Chapter 55 - Underground black market

In fact, the music skills in the game are different from ordinary sounds. They don't really pass through the ears. The essence of the music actually reaches the listener's heart directly. Moreover, since this earth dragon is a high-level boss, the game console won't allow it to have such a hearing defect that would make it vulnerable.

Although I don't know all this, we have reached this point now and I have nowhere to hide. I can't just wait to die like this.

I used my last move: "Fairy Tale Melody!" At the same time, I stepped on the ground forcefully to follow the rhythm, using the ground as a drum. I don't know if the earth dragon's belly can feel it.

The earth dragon's frenzy suddenly lessened a bit, but I felt a bit out of breath. The music was intermittent, and with my playing skills, it was a bit too early to play "Fairy Tale Melody".

I had to try my best. I used "Heart Union Technique" at the same time, and also added "Domestication Technique" in the auxiliary bar.

Finally, the vibrations in the cave stopped. The earth dragon narrowed its eyes slightly, shook its head, and seemed to be "listening" to my flute sound.

The crisis was finally overcome, but now I was facing a greater test: "Should I run away or steal the jewels?"

Greed, is it really impossible to overcome?

My heart was struggling inside, and suddenly, the earth dragon let out a sharp breath, seemingly displeased. Could it have heard my impure thoughts from my flute sound?

Yesterday, the musician said that playing this fairy tale melody could purify one's soul. I didn't believe it then, but now I have verified it. To prevent the earth dragon from getting angry, I quickly put aside my greed and sincerely played the fairy tale melody. This isn't just purifying the soul, is it...

Carefully, I retreated step by step towards the entrance of the cave.

Finally, I came out of the cave. My companions were waiting anxiously at the entrance, and seeing me come out, they all let out a sigh of relief.

Baxter patted my shoulder: "Friend, you really are amazing. Next time, be prepared and practice an Ave Mundi. Let the earth dragon fall asleep, and we can freely steal the jewels!"

While saying this, a crazy light flashed in Baxter's eyes.

Having survived the disaster, everyone was in a good mood, even better than having leveled up.

We continued to level up on the third floor. In no time, I leveled up to level 31.

This level had a lot of points because of the experience of killing the evil eagle, so my strength was 4, constitution was 2, spirit was 3, and agility was 4.

The Tiger King suddenly said: "Sky, haven't you changed your profession yet?"

Oh, I really wanted to change my profession, but I couldn't find the guild for my profession.

Baxter suddenly said: "I know a player who has a hidden profession. They couldn't find their main profession guild either, but they were able to change their profession in万象城. When do you go and check it out?"

The Special Liaison Officer hurriedly said: "万象城? That's a cultural city. It's said that the local city lord has ordered that people with low cultural levels are not allowed to enter the city. There are people at the teleportation array who will inspect the players' skills. Those who don't pass will have to return the original way."

I wrote down this information and tried it as soon as possible. If I could successfully change my profession, there should be many benefits.

Unconsciously, I practiced until morning. Everyone logged off one after another. We agreed to log in at 1 p.m. This time, the special liaison might be criticized by my family again.

During this time, I decided to go to Sunset City to do my recruitment work.

Back to the Village of Jade Extraction, fortunately, I didn't encounter the Fire Lord King. I took the teleportation array and came to Sunset City.

The underground black market in Sunset City was inside a casino. First, you had to pay 1 gold coin to enter the private room, and then the attendant would ask you: "Do you want to gamble? Go to the underground black market? Or do you want special services?"

If the player's reputation was low and they didn't have much money, they couldn't enter the private room. If you didn't have the status of a lord or shop owner, the attendant wouldn't mention the underground black market. Probably, I was the first player in the game to enter the black market.

I chose the underground black market, and was blindfolded and taken to a basement. Then I walked down the stairs, and there was the legendary underground black market right in front of me. The black market was indeed very dark. The fences, walls, and floors were all made of black materials, and even the lights were fueled by black stones. Could it be coal?

The black market was divided into three areas. The left side was the intelligence market, the middle was the goods market, and the right side was the talent market.

I first entered the talent market. It was completely different from the crowded scene I had imagined.

On the left was the recruitment area. There were only twenty or so tables with notices and a small bell, but no one was there. After investigating, I found out that the small bell was used by the applicants to summon the employers for interviews.

The notices advertised various talents, including top chefs, top blacksmiths, expert hunters, master physicians, and 100-level magicians, etc. The pay was quite ordinary. For top professions, the daily pay was 5 gold coins, and for 100-level magicians, the price was negotiated.

As far as I know, nowadays, players who have reached the top level of their professions can earn at least 10 gold coins a day by "working" for 10 hours. I believe NPCs can earn more than players. With such a low price, it's no wonder they can't find enough people.

After walking around for a while, I quickly reached the job-seeking area, which was exactly what I was looking for.

The job-seeking area had no tables, only chairs. There were over 200 chairs, most of which had notes and small bells on them. There were also dozens of NPCs sitting on the chairs waiting.

When they saw me coming, all of them had bright eyes and jumped up, shouting to me: "Hey, boss, we're looking for someone. What do you want? I'm the best hitman in the city, um, butcher!" "Boss, do you need a part-time worker? I'm helping my wife find a job. How about 1 gold coin a day? I guarantee it'll be cleaned up perfectly!" ...

There were all kinds of people here. I was so dizzy that I turned off my hearing and shouted loudly, "Those who can fight, raise your hands!"

Almost immediately, a dozen people raised their hands and came up to me. Chattering away, I couldn't hear them anyway. I then used the investigation technique to address them. Those with lower levels were sent back. In no time, there were only three people left in front of me.

These three people were all of levels I couldn't detect. One was a burly man, one was a slender and agile young fellow, and the other was a young man who kept his head lowered and didn't say a word since he came to my side.

Generally speaking, those I couldn't detect levels for should be at least 10 levels higher than me.

I turned on my hearing and said, "You three, please report your level, profession and worth."

The big man said proudly, "80-level battle axe warrior! Aiman! Hiring fee: daily salary 100 gold coins. If you defeat monsters with 50 or more hit points or bosses with 30 or more hit points, each time you strike 1000 gold coins!"

I was stunned. The level was high, and it was a change of profession. I guess now all the players in front of him would only be at the mercy of being instantly killed. Taking him to kill the fantasy law god to get the reward would be good too, it was profitable. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford it...

The small guy chuckled, "55-level thief, known as 'Calandra', hiring fee: 30 gold coins per day, each strike 500 gold coins!"

Even more stunned. Thief! This was a hidden profession. I hadn't seen one like this for such a long time. But, what was the use? Was he really sent to steal things? I wasn't that kind of person!

However, as a thief, there was no need to look for the master. To earn money, you could just steal yourself!

I carefully examined him for a long time, then smiled and said, "I remember, there's your wanted poster in the city. You want to leave the city with me, right? Go ahead!"

Calandra coughed and walked away unhappily. I quickly checked my belongings. Fortunately, this guy didn't steal from me. Sweat trickled down my face.

Finally, it was the young man Louison. He didn't raise his head and slowly said, "Louison, 65-level knight, pay me 300 gold coins and you'll be my lifelong master."

I exclaimed, "Lifelong employment? Only 300 gold coins? Absolutely not expensive!"

Suddenly, Aiman shouted loudly, "I, only charge you 80 gold coins per day, and each time you defeat a big monster, 800 gold coins! How about it? You won't find anything cheaper than this!"

The thunderous shout almost deafened my ears. I smiled wryly, "The money is not enough..."

Aiman's face turned red: "My lord, don't joke. There's no lord who can't afford this amount of money."

I was now wearing the village lord's emblem, with a +3 charm. Any NPC didn't know my identity without knowing it.

I shook my head and said to the two of them, "Sorry, I'll go and check the others."

I walked up to the chairs, looked at the pieces of paper, most of them were job applications for life careers, only about forty for combat careers. But, either the level was not high enough or the price was higher than Aiman's.

Aiman couldn't wait and rushed over to me, shouting, "Look, did I say it clearly? My asking price is absolutely fair. So, I only need 70 gold coins per day!"

My heart skipped a beat. This price was already very good. Just by taking Aiman with me to kill the fantasy law god, the gold coins alone could be recovered by 1000! And the ten pieces of gear of the legendary level and the reputation, achievements, justice value, and mercenary experience!

I desperately reminded myself: "Stay calm, stay calm. The fantasy law god is not so easy to encounter. And there are flying pets and space transfer. An 80-level warrior may not be able to kill him either."

While thinking, I walked towards the young man Louison. Later, Aiman almost shouted: "I'll only charge you 60 gold per day now!!!!"

My heart started pounding again. This Aiman must be in desperate need of money. There must be room for bargaining. Oh my god, I had an idea. We can't kill the God of Magic, so let's send him to kill the Dragon instead! Those jewels... I'm dizzy...

I can't lose my composure. I have to force him to lower the price.

There will be a price reduction when there is competition. I secretly smiled triumphantly to Louison and said: "Did you hear that? The 80-level character only costs 60 gold per day. How much do you plan to reduce it?"

Louison moved her body and shook her head: "I still want 300 gold."

I really felt a bit embarrassed. 300 gold to buy a 65-level character for a lifetime is really too little, especially since my gold is relatively easy to obtain. However, looking at Louison, I saw that he was wearing a set of worn-out wood-level equipment!

I turned around and looked at Aiman for a while. "Oh, I forgot to check. It turns out that the equipment on you is only platinum level. So your combat power has been greatly reduced, right?"

Aiman's face turned red: "But my price is still absolutely reasonable. Come on, 50 gold per day!"

My heart was pounding wildly: "Almost there. I still have 460 gold. If I lower the price again, I can get this 80-level powerhouse!"

But on the surface, I still pretended not to care: "You know, 50 gold can buy me such good equipment? As for killing the boss, I haven't never killed one above level 30. Just find two people and it's done. Why do you want 500?"

Aiman clenched his fists and held them tight: "I, I'm different from them! I can single-handedly take on a 70-level boss! Just kill one and you can earn back tens of thousands of gold!"

I was surprised: "Then why don't you kill it yourself? That would be easy money."

Aiman looked at me strangely: "Is that so? Can I do it myself? Kill the boss by myself?"

I was stunned. How could I remind him? I quickly interrupted his thinking: "Forget it. Fixed price, 30 gold per day. Kill one boss and get 300 gold! Don't do it if you don't want to!"

Aiman trembled all over, his eyes turned red, and after a while, he finally shouted loudly: "OK, for the sake of my wife and children being able to live a good life, I'll do it!"
