"Mr. Hawthorne, did you want to see me for something?"
Laura Quincy's tone was polite yet distant, intentionally keeping him at arm's length.
Jason Hawthorne cleared his throat, "It's like this, Twinkle's kindergarten has a parent-child event this Friday. Since you've attended a few parent-teacher meetings as his mommy before, this time..."
Laura couldn't listen any longer, quickly interrupting him, "What? I attended parent-teacher meetings as his mommy? Are you sure?"
Jason seemed to have anticipated her reaction, "Of course, why would I lie to you about this?"
A rush of a thousand alpacas charged through Laura's mind. Had she gone mad? Doing something like this? It seemed she had been deeply involved before!
The more she thought about it, the more she believed losing six years of memory was Heaven's way of warning her not to muddle through life as someone else's stepmother!
