Chapter 122:
For some time after their words faded, Kentaro and Tenka lay in silence on the futon. Neither spoke. The air was thick with something neither of them dared to touch, half the weight of Tenka's confession, half the heat of their proximity.
Tenka, however, was far from calm. Her back was turned to Kentaro, but her hands were restless, her lips brushing against her fingers. The memory hit her in sudden, violent clarity.
I-I kissed him!? She let out a cute squeak in her own head.
Her eyes widened, a burning blush spreading across her cheeks. She pressed her palm against her face like a schoolgirl who'd just realised she'd embarrassed herself in front of her crush.
Why did I do that? Her mind screamed the words in echo. Why, of all times, did I do that now?!
Her body shifted, squirming slightly beneath the futon. The movement didn't escape Kentaro's notice.
"Tenka," he said softly, his voice low, uncertain.
