In the dark and boundless depths of the universe, a stream of golden light streaked across the void, illuminating the darkness as it shot forward like a meteor.
In the deep cosmic expanse, a massive interstellar battleship—large enough to compare to a small planet—jumped into realspace from an extremely distant point.
Behind this battleship, ring-shaped escort ships formed a protective formation, and behind them, countless spacecraft of various sizes packed together like a steel torrent.
This was the most terrifying military force in the universe, conquering star systems without defeat. Some called it the Dark Legion, some a religious cult, others the Legion of Destruction. But internally, this force had only one name from beginning to end: the Black Order.
Yes—this was the Black Order under Thanos, the most feared army in the cosmos. They had waged campaigns of killing and conquest for years without a single loss. Even the mighty Kree Empire trembled under their shadow.
Inside the flagship Sanctuary II—the core of the fleet—countless soldiers in interstellar combat armor patrolled the halls.
Sanctuary II was truly enormous.
Even with millions of soldiers inside, it still felt empty. Advanced weapons lined every corridor, cold and oppressive. Darkness and suffocation were the dominant themes of this warship.
At the very center of the ship, upon a massive floating throne, sat a figure nearly three meters tall, with purple skin, a massive ridged chin, and clad in blue-gold high-tech armor. Simply by sitting there, he radiated a terrifying aura like the abyss.
Just looking at that towering figure on the throne felt like seeing death itself.
This was the overlord of the universe—the leader of the Black Order feared by every race, and the last surviving Eternal Titan.
Thanos.
"Great and supreme Lord Thanos, your gaze shines across the starry skies."
Below the throne, Ebony Maw—one of the Black Order's five generals—prostrated himself, his tone filled with reverence, his expression devout like a pilgrim.
"Ebony Maw. What is it?"
Thanos looked down with a dull, emotionless gaze.
Ebony Maw knew Thanos rarely tolerated interruptions—especially right after he had culled half the life on a planet.
As one of the most intelligent beings in the universe, Ebony Maw was the commander of the Black Order's intellectual legion. He would never disturb Thanos unless something exceptional had occurred.
"Great and sovereign Lord Thanos, we have discovered the Eternal Spear—the sacred artifact of Odin, Father of Asgard—and the presence of Thor Odinson, son of Odin."
Ebony Maw rose, his expression serious and strange, and quickly reported the information.
"Heavenly Father Odin… the God-King of the Nine Realms. The Eternal Spear is a powerful artifact. It would never leave Odin unless…"
Thanos's eyes gleamed with insight. In a single moment, he understood: Odin, the Heavenly Father of the Nine Realms, was likely dead.
"Bring Thor Odinson here."
A cold smile tugged at Thanos's lips. He needed to confirm Odin's death. He had long coveted Earth, but with Odin and the Ancient One present, Earth had always been reserved for Thanos's final stage.
Whoosh.
In the darkness of space, a gravitational field surged outward from beneath Sanctuary II. The rapidly flying Eternal Spear was instantly captured.
"Agh… where is this?"
A weak Thor opened his eyes. His consciousness was blurred, and he looked around in confusion at the drastic change in environment.
(Thor was still in the moment when Asgard was facing crisis from the Sentry.)
He had personally witnessed Allens the Intelligent Brain controlling a Sentry and conquering Asgard. His father—forced awake from the Odinsleep—fought Allens, and in the end, the Eternal Spear escaped with Thor.
"Thor Odinson, prince of the Aesir, future king of Asgard."
A cold voice echoed. Thor's eyesight gradually focused, and he finally saw Thanos on the floating throne.
"Who are you?"
Thor's face tightened. He immediately stood up, warily staring at Thanos. But his divine power still hadn't recovered.
"Presumptuous! Before you stands the great and supreme overlord of the universe—Lord Thanos."
Ebony Maw's face chilled. He raised his hand, and telekinesis lifted Thor instantly.
"Ebony Maw. He is my guest."
Thanos glanced at him indifferently. Ebony Maw immediately broke out in a cold sweat. Thanos despised interruptions most of all.
"I deeply apologize, Lord Thanos."
Ebony Maw released Thor and knelt, bowing low. Thanos ignored him and turned his attention back to Thor.
"I can see the hatred in your eyes… amusing. Odin has sealed away your power."
Thanos sneered. The floating throne carried him closer. His massive hand clamped around Thor's head.
"Xingyun—open his memories."
Thanos casually tossed Thor toward Nebula, and she perked up excitedly, dragging Thor to the memory-scanning device.
The machine projected Thor's recent experiences before Thanos. When the image of Allens—the Intelligent Brain—appeared, Thanos's pupils narrowed sharply.
"Shut down his memories."
Nebula complied instantly. Thanos rested his chin on his fingers.
"Interesting… Brain Allens. A mind cursed with knowledge, just like me."
"Hm? He can see me?"
A spark of interest lit Thanos's eyes. Somewhere out there, he sensed someone observing him. With his power at Sub–Skyfather level, Thanos was certain:
It was Allens—the very being in Thor's memories—watching him.
"Interesting. Earth is becoming truly fascinating… someone powerful is rising."
A cold, excited smile appeared on Thanos's face. He had recognized Allens's strength—making Earth even more enticing.
"Listen, Thor Odinson. I can break Odin's seal for you, restore your power, give you the strength of vengeance. But… you must do one thing for me."
Thanos's deep voice echoed. Thor raised his head with difficulty, still unsure of what Thanos intended.
