Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Rogers' Last Resort

In Asgard, on the Bifrost, Steve Rogers appeared in battered condition, clad in a suit of steel battle armor.

At the center of the rainbow bridge stood a tall, imposing Black man, armored and wearing a horned helmet. His eyes seemed to contain the starry universe itself—Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard, who could see across the Nine Realms and hear the voices of anyone within them.

Clang!

Heimdall drew the great sword of the Bifrost control center with both hands. Divine power surged through him, his presence majestic and solemn.

"Captain Steve Rogers," Heimdall intoned. "It has been a long time."

His gaze lingered on Rogers' aged face. Decades ago, after World War II, Captain America had once visited Asgard and even earned the respect of Odin, King of the Gods.

"Heimdall, long time no see," Rogers said, standing tall despite his age. His muscles tightened as his battered armor shattered from his body. He bent down, retrieved his Vibranium shield and the consciousness register of Dr. Arnim Zola, and allowed a small smile to cross his face.

"Something has happened that could affect the future, hasn't it?" Heimdall asked, brows furrowed. Every encounter with this Rogers from the future reminded him of the tragic final battle Rogers had once spoken of.

"A boy named Allens somehow learned about events yet to come. He stole my quantum suit and became a super-criminal, disrupting the timeline," Rogers explained grimly.

From his pocket, Rogers produced a strange device—shaped like a button, futuristic and glowing faintly with radiant light.

"Save the girl with the vibration powers. Save the world. Allens has grown beyond my ability to stop. Doctor Strange must have foreseen this as well, which is why he passed me this ultimate failsafe… from the future."

Rogers' eyes hardened as he looked at the button, then turned toward Heimdall.

"Heimdall, watch the Earth. Allens should have achieved his goal by now."

"As you wish, my friend."

Heimdall placed a hand on Rogers' shoulder and opened his all-seeing sight. In an instant, images of Earth filled Rogers' vision—his perspective soaring until he was staring down at New Jersey, where chaos unfolded.

"That damned Allens… he succeeded," Rogers muttered bitterly, watching Daisy Johnson—Skye—collapse, her powers raging uncontrollably around Allens.

But Rogers also knew this was the moment foretold by Strange. After killing Daisy, Allens would relax his guard. That was when he could be killed.

The message from 2023 contained two instructions: Save the girl with vibration powers. Save the world.

And another: The light of the soul will purify the world.

In that future, Dr. Bruce Banner—using the research left behind by Tony Stark—had built this button, the Light of the Mind. Its sole purpose: to activate the Mind Scepter.

"Success or failure… it all comes down to this."

Rogers pressed the button.

Far away, in a hidden underground base in Siberia, a high-tech laboratory suddenly trembled. At its center, a scepter glowing with yellow light erupted in a burst of psychic energy.

This was Loki's Mind Scepter, captured after the Battle of New York. At its core rested the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones, containing immeasurable psychic power.

A beam of yellow psychic energy surged upward, ignoring the steel and concrete of the HYDRA base as it shot into the sky.

Watching on monitors, Baron Strucker's eyes widened. "Why has the scepter activated?"

He turned to his scientists, his ambition shining even through his shock. For years, he had experimented with the scepter, but never had it unleashed energy of this magnitude.

"Baron, please be patient—we're still trying to determine the cause."

A bald, gray-bearded scientist frantically worked the console, data scrolling across massive screens. Suddenly his eyes widened.

"Impossible! According to this data, the scepter wasn't triggered on its own—it was activated by some kind of remote device!"

"What?!" Strucker's face darkened. "Which bastard did this?"

He immediately ordered maximum security protocols throughout the base.

Meanwhile, in Stark's private lab in Siberia, alarms blared as sensors detected the high-energy reaction.

"Sir, detecting unusual energy activity," J.A.R.V.I.S. reported.

Tony Stark glanced at his wrist display. With a tap, a holographic map flickered to life, showing a glowing red dot marking the location.

"Finally," Tony smirked. "We found Baron Strucker's little rat's nest."

There was no mistaking it—this was the Mind Scepter's power. And if it was active, the Avengers would need to move.

But the scepter's light was already racing across the world… reaching New Jersey.

There, Allens—oblivious to what had been set in motion—was testing his newly acquired vibration powers. He slammed his fist into the air, and the space itself cracked in rings around him, like shattered glass.

The sight was eerily reminiscent of Whitebeard wielding the Quake-Quake Fruit.
