As soon as Norma raised that question, Daniel slowly arched his brow.
"So you do realize this has something to do with the case," he said.
His tone was calm, but the sharpness behind his words was impossible to miss.
He leaned back slightly against the couch, his injured arm resting carefully on the armrest as his gaze remained fixed on her.
"But tell me something, Aunt Norma," he continued quietly. "Shouldn't you have realized that before what happened to me?"
Norma's fingers tightened subtly on the edge of the couch.
Daniel did not stop there.
"After all," he added, his voice turning colder, "the man indirectly linked to my parents' death is the same man you chose to protect."
The words landed heavily in the room.
For the first time since he entered the living room, Norma shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
She knew exactly who he was referring to.
Collin.
