Anna had no idea when she had fallen asleep.
One moment she had been sitting against the headboard, waiting for Daniel to return while scrolling absentmindedly through her phone, and the next thing she knew her eyes were opening again.
The room was still dim.
The bedside lamp cast a faint glow across the walls, and the curtains fluttered slightly with the night breeze.
Anna blinked slowly, trying to gather her senses.
Something felt… off.
Her eyes instinctively moved toward the other side of the bed.
Empty.
Daniel wasn't there.
Anna frowned slightly as she pushed herself up and looked toward the clock on the bedside table.
It was still late at night.
"Did he not come yet?" she murmured under her breath.
Daniel had said the meeting would be quick.
Even if it had taken longer than expected, he should have been back by now.
A faint uneasiness settled in her chest.
She quickly grabbed her phone and dialed his number.
