Daniel was midway through a meeting when he noticed Henry step into the room. His brows arched slightly at the sight of his aide's expression.
Henry leaned in, keeping his voice low. "Boss, Mr. Bennett wants to talk to you."
Daniel's gaze flicked toward the projector. The presenter halted mid sentence the instant their eyes met.
"Let's continue later," Daniel announced calmly.
The room emptied within seconds.
Once they were alone, Daniel reached out and took the phone from Henry.
"Hello—"
"How dare you betray me, Daniel!" Hugo's roar thundered through the speaker, loud enough that Daniel instinctively pulled the phone away from his ear.
Henry pressed his lips together, watching his boss closely. He had seen Daniel angry before, but this was different. When Daniel slowly brought the phone back to his ear, Henry held his breath.
The calm on Daniel's face was unsettling.
"Betray you?" Daniel repeated softly.
Henry's stomach tightened.
