"My goodness, why is she so heavy," Anna breathed as she practically stuffed Fiona into the passenger seat like oversized luggage.
Her shoulder screamed in protest, a sharp ache shooting down her arm, while the woman she was rescuing slept like a log, completely unaware that her world was being flipped around and manhandled.
"Shh… don't shout. Let me sleep," Fiona grumbled in her drunken daze, adjusting herself slightly before sinking right back into oblivion.
Anna stared at her in disbelief, lips twitching. The audacity. She swallowed every sharp comment she wanted to throw back because Fiona was clearly not in any state to handle reality.
But then a thought crossed her mind.
Anna's eyes narrowed into mischievous half moons.
"Almost done," Anna murmured with a satisfied sigh as she leaned back to admire her work.
