Chapter 2 - Heavenly Eye

The river still flowed, its gentle murmurs crisp and clear. Bright sunlight bathed the earth, bringing warmth and light. On the grass, a dozen birds with brown feathers pecked at a dead fish, its cloudy eyes seeming to hold a trace of resentment.

Some of the smaller birds glanced at the distant 'two-legged creature.' After swallowing the delicious fish meat, curiosity piqued. They chirped amongst themselves, then decided to team up for an adventure. With a flap of their wings, they prepared to land on the 'two-legged creature's' face.

The larger birds paid them no mind, continuing to feast. They tore chunks of fish flesh and devoured them. This was much tastier than insects. One wondered if, after filling their bellies, they would "write" a "Peach Garden Travelogue" to spread the word in the bird world.

Just as the small birds were about to "land," a faint golden light suddenly erupted from the 'landing strip.' A pure, radiant light and scorching heat burst from the space between the 'two-legged creature's' eyebrows. It swept through the birds, instantly making their bodies transparent. A strange "flame" seemed to burn within them. But the golden light vanished in a flash, and the birds' bodies returned to normal.

The sudden change frightened them, and they abandoned their exploration. They frantically flapped their wings and took flight.

I don't know how long it was.

The wind picked up, and the temperature dropped. The grass seemed to shrink in fear of the cold.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch." A pained cry echoed from the slightly noisy stream. On the damp grass, Huo Yuhao, who had been unconscious, suddenly opened his eyes. He propped himself up with his hands, slowly getting to his feet. After sitting for a while to recover, he continuously rubbed his right eyebrow, as if it were being roasted, which was very uncomfortable.

However, before he could find much relief, Huo Yuhao's expression quickly changed when he saw the dim sky around him. He frowned and muttered to himself, "What exactly happened? I've been out for so long."

Suddenly, he remembered some things that had happened before. He subconsciously put his hand on his eyes. He knew the consequences of staring at the sun. But after gently touching them a few times, he didn't feel any discomfort, which made Huo Yuhao puzzled.

He endured the hunger in his stomach, went to the river, cupped some water with his hands, and drank it, alleviating his hunger.

But just as the cold river water stimulated his awareness, Huo Yuhao, who had been about to move away, froze. He stared at the water's surface in astonishment.

Although the sky had darkened, the reflection on the water's surface was still relatively clear. The reason for his freezing was that at the location of his eyebrow, there was a crack, and there was a faint golden light flickering.

Huo Yuhao quickly closed his eyes, then reopened them to look again. However, this time, the golden light crack was gone, as if everything had been an illusion.

But Huo Yuhao didn't think so. He closed his eyes and began to sense it with his heart. Suddenly, a strange sensation of heat came from his eyes, as if some warm current was nourishing his eyes, making him incredibly comfortable.

After about five seconds, the warm current vanished. When Huo Yuhao opened his eyes again, his originally deep blue eyes had completely turned gold, with a faint sun appearing within them. He turned his head to look around and strangely saw a peculiar type of flame dancing within the plants.

Surrounding the plants, there was also a dense array of flames of varying sizes.

This strange scene stunned Huo Yuhao. He focused his gaze on a large tree, wanting to investigate. Suddenly, a series of strange runes formed in his mind. Even though he didn't understand the meaning of the runes, Huo Yuhao instinctively recited them.

As Huo Yuhao finished reciting the runes, they all dissipated, completely merging into his soul.

At this moment, a fissure appeared on his brow again, and a giant golden light erupted from his brow, which looked like a third eye, shooting directly at the five-meter-tall, barrel-thick tree. The golden light instantly enveloped the tree. At a visible speed, the flames dancing within the tree began to grow intensely, as if dry wood had met a raging fire, igniting instantly.

As for Huo Yuhao, before he could observe, after the golden light erupted, he felt as if he had been drained of all energy. His entire body was covered in sweat, and a splitting headache struck him as he collapsed onto the grass. He gasped for air, as if every ounce of his strength had been exhausted.

This continued for half an hour, with only a sliver of light remaining in the sky. Only then did he recover. The gold in his eyes had returned to deep blue, but Huo Yuhao didn't pay attention to this. He sat on the grass with a strange expression, muttering, "Heavenly Eye?"

No one answered Huo Yuhao. Only the whistling cold wind struck his frail body, but an indescribable meaning appeared on his face. He touched his brow, and muttered to himself sarcastically, "Is this the perk of being a transmigrator?"

"Hoo."

The cold wind blew harder, causing ripples to spread across the river's surface. Huo Yuhao, already thin, shivered violently. The biting cold instantly jolted him awake, and everything returned to reality.

Collecting his thoughts, Huo Yuhao went to find the fish he had caught. When he picked it up, he sighed helplessly. He could clearly see the marks where birds had pecked at the fish's belly, indicating that the birds had eaten it while he was unconscious.

Suddenly, Huo Yuhao was stunned. His eyesight…

It was already dark, not completely pitch-black, but dim. However, when he looked at the fish, the brightness seemed to increase, and he could see it very clearly.

The white, slightly pinkish flesh on the fish's belly was clearly visible in his eyes.

He knew that even after activating his martial soul with his soul power, his vision would improve, but never to this extent.

Could it be the Heavenly Eye?

Huo Yuhao suddenly thought of this. He couldn't think of any other reason.

"Boom…"

The sky was overcast, with dark clouds gathering and lightning flashing. Huo Yuhao didn't waste any more time. He quickly picked up the branches he'd tied together and the fish that had been pecked at by forest birds and hurried towards the White Tiger Duke's Manor.

However, he didn't notice that the giant tree struck by the golden light was rapidly gaining life. Soon, it was covered with an astonishing aura of life, and faintly, there seemed to be a hint of soul power emerging from the tree.

When Huo Yuhao emerged from the dense forest along the stream and returned to the wide official road, the drizzle had already begun, and the ground had become muddy. His clothes were soaked through by the all-encompassing rain.

Huo Yuhao panted heavily as he jogged back. After about fifteen minutes, a complex of buildings with an unusually large area finally appeared before his eyes. It was probably over three thousand acres, and the whole thing looked like an imperial palace.

The inside was brightly lit, and in the hazy rain, it looked somewhat beautiful, like an oil painting.

Arriving at the north gate of the manor, Huo Yuhao walked to the small door reserved for servants and opened it gently before entering.

The gate walls of the White Tiger Duke's Manor were tall, over five meters high, and entirely vermilion. Under the brick walls, there was a soul-guided lamp every five meters. The soft light dispelled the darkness and brought a warm atmosphere.

The living quarters for ordinary servants were located in the northern part of the White Tiger Duke's Manor. Huo Yuhao walked through the passage, navigating several corners, and hurried towards his dwelling.

Due to the Duchess of the White Tiger's suppression, Huo Yun'er and Huo Yuhao's living conditions had always been poor. They lived in a storage room that was originally used to store old wood. The room was simple and located in a remote area, with no other servants nearby.

However, when Huo Yuhao returned to their dwelling, his expression turned grim. The only quilt his mother had left him, used for warmth, had been thrown on the ground by someone. Rain had soaked it through, and there were even clear footprints on it.

"Oh, you're back early."

Suddenly, a rascal-like voice came from inside the storage room, and a young man peeked out.

Huo Yuhao took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with a faint light, and a look of disgust instantly appeared on his face.
