Z City, Hero Association branch. A large group of men with various clothing and hair colors were lined up properly, handing in their resumes.
If Bai Ye were here right now, he would find that the people queuing here were the Reincarnators who were previously in the same room as him.
These Reincarnators, who were kings and overlords in the Reincarnation Space, now stood respectfully, just like office workers, politely smiling and handing in their resumes to the staff.
"Are you applying to be a hero?" The customer service representative smiled at the two-meter-tall man in front of her.
"Yes, I believe that my strength, which I have cultivated for over a decade, is enough to fulfill this position, and I have always aspired to be a hero who helps the weak and punishes the strong," the tall man said solemnly.
The front desk customer service representative nodded with a professional smile, "You seem very confident. Then I wish you all the best. May I ask your name so I can register you?"
"My name is Ivanov. Can I choose my own title?" The tall man introduced himself.
The customer service representative shook her head, "No, the Hero Association chooses the titles."
"Yes, yes, I completely understand how you feel. May I ask when the next hero test is scheduled?" Ivanov nodded awkwardly.
"You'll be notified of the specific time. Please leave your contact information; it should be within the next seven days," the customer service representative said.
"Contact information? I've been in the mountains with my teacher, and I don't even have an ID. Is there any way around this?" Ivanov asked, looking troubled.
"No ID? Then you need to register your identity with the police before you can take the hero test. Next please," the Hero Association customer service representative politely told Ivanov to step aside.
After these Reincarnators retreated with grim faces, they huddled together in small groups, talking amongst themselves. "Damn it, those snobs! They don't know we're Reincarnators. I could punch a whole street into oblivion!"
"Don't complain. We're new to this world; let's lie low for a while," another Reincarnator sighed. Then, they noticed the Hero Association branch had sounded the alarm.
Along with the somewhat jarring alarm, a voice immediately came over the intercom.
"An enemy is about to attack this branch of the Association. Disaster level: [Tiger]. A-Class heroes and above, please deal with the enemy. Enemy characteristics: handsome, very handsome!"
"Here's our chance."
Hearing the broadcast, everyone present had their eyes light up. They finally had a chance to act.
The next moment, Ivanov, surrounded by the crowd, stood up immediately. Although he didn't know the strength level of this world's powers.
But according to the ranking of Wolf, Tiger, Ghost, Dragon, and God, it was impossible for a Sixth Order early-stage expert like himself to be unable to deal with a Tiger-level monster.
"Wait here for a moment. After I defeat the monster and become a hero, I'll use my connections to get all of you officially recognized."
Ivanov stood up confidently. Amidst the cheers of his subordinates, he felt a familiar energy field spreading towards them, and his expression couldn't help but change slightly.
"Boss, why did you sit down?"
The Reincarnators looked at Ivanov with confusion. Just moments ago, he had been brimming with confidence, but now he was crouching back down, blending in with them. They couldn't help but be curious.
But a moment later, a familiar shout came from afar: "This is the Hero Association branch, right? Don't waste our time! Quickly certify my hero rank, and then directly certify me as S-Class!"
Boom!
With a figure with long hair descending from the sky, Bai Ye's feet landed in the branch.
"It's him! Why is it him! How dare he!"
This was the question on the minds of all the Reincarnators present. This wasn't how you went about courting death.
"He's already asking for it. Let the others deal with him," Ivanov said with certainty.
"Oh." Bai Ye also noticed the group of Reincarnators inside. They clearly had strength, but they were acting like this. How pathetic.
Before he could continue observing, a wiry man with yellow hair and wearing a black bodysuit intercepted him at the speed of sound.
The yellow-haired, wiry man smirked, "I am Lightning Max, A-Class rank 20. How dare you cause trouble at the Hero Association, you'll..."
Before Lightning Max could finish, a shoe slammed onto his face with lightning speed, stomping down hard.
The clean sole pressed his face into the ground.
"Crack, crack, crack!"
Amidst the sound of shattering bricks, his entire body was embedded in the smooth, hard marble floor.
"Hey, is this the only kind of trash in this branch of the Association?"
Bai Ye's right foot was on Max's head, pressing his body deeper and deeper until it was completely flush with the floor.
"An A-Class hero, rank 20, defeated in an instant..." The people on the scene stared, stunned, at the figure standing there.
"I'll take you on!" A loud shout came from the side. A tall man in a tank top, covered in muscles, walked out from the corner and roared at Bai Ye, "I am A-Class number..."
Before he could finish, Bai Ye's figure seemed to skip a frame. When he reappeared, his right elbow was thrust forward, deeply into the muscle man's abdomen.
"Pft!"
The muscle man's eyes bulged out of their sockets like eggs. Bai Ye's right elbow felt heavy, as if it wanted to drive into the muscle man's lungs. His back arched high from the impact.
A mouthful of blood gushed out of his mouth. After a moment of stiffness, his body slowly fell, unable to rise again.
A-Class ninth was instantly killed!
The staff at the scene were completely panicked. This was definitely not a Tiger-level disaster; it had reached the Ghost level.
In other words, this guy had definitely reached the threshold of an S-Class hero.
"I don't think there's any need for A-Class to come anymore." Bai Ye said as he kicked the defenseless A-Class 9th away like trash, then pulled a chair from the side and sat down.
"I heard there's a dojo in Z City run by Silver Fang, who's ranked third in S-Class. Can we find him?"
Bai Ye looked towards the customer service, but they didn't even need to relay the information. The situation here was already being uploaded to the headquarters in A City via the cameras.
"A Ghost-level monster?" The Hero Association's high-ranking officials asked their subordinates after receiving the news, but the response they got left them stunned.
"No, it's a human of unknown identity who has already instantly killed A-Class heroes ranked 9th and 20th, and wants to obtain an S-Class hero certification."
"He's waiting inside the building now, saying any S-Class hero can come, and that if he doesn't get the certification today, he'll fight his way to headquarters."
After the subordinate reported, he asked, "Do we need to contact Mr. Silver Fang immediately?"
The high-ranking official next to him didn't expect the reason to be so simple: "He wants an S-Class hero ranking? Then… just give it to him."
