Chapter 94 - Nick Fury: S.H.I.E.L.D. Has Definitely Been Infiltrated

Inside the White House in Washington, news of the mutant attack on the military base in Canada immediately arrived.

Before anyone could react, within just two or three minutes, Stryker reported that the base's resistance had been completely crushed. He then forcefully used his authority to launch a Nuclear Missile at his own base.

The whole thing happened so fast that Eric felt like he was the President of France, not the United States.

Of course, what shocked Ellis the most was that the Nuclear Missile was launched without his authorization.

Not only Ellis, but leaders of other countries were also astounded. They all aimed their satellites at the area, wanting to know what was going on. Why would someone suddenly launch a Nuclear Missile?

"Who authorized the launch of the Nuclear Missile?" Inside S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury was going crazy. The events of the past few minutes almost overloaded his bald head.

He had just been investigating the mysterious being who had moved from New York to Canada at supersonic speed. Then, a message was released from Stryker's military base in Canada, saying the base had been attacked, and that Bai Ye, previously identified as a pure human, was actually a Mutant.

And then came the Nuclear Missile incident.

He initially thought the U.S. had gone mad, but his preliminary investigation revealed that the operation allowing the Nuclear Missile launch was carried out by a hacker within his own organization. He immediately explained the situation to the representatives of various countries at the United Nations.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. has definitely been infiltrated!" Nick Fury stated firmly.

At the same time, Bai Ye emerged from the military base. Standing on the wall, he used his incredible eyesight to spot a three-meter-long warhead hurtling towards him several kilometers away.

"They actually dared to launch a Nuclear Missile? Who authorized this?" Bai Ye wondered. Even if the United States was reckless, they wouldn't nuke their own base. This seemed more like a desperate attempt to cover up evidence.

Watching the Nuclear Missile speeding towards him, Bai Ye knew that if he were at the center of the explosion, the ultra-high temperature of 50 million degrees Celsius would vaporize his body in an instant.

'But at this distance, it should be fine.' Bai Ye calculated the distance, then crouched down and reached for the wall.

"Crack, crack, crack!"

With a series of sounds of concrete breaking, Bai Ye's fingers had already dug out a fist-sized chunk of stone from the wall.

He enveloped the stone with his Internal Energy. Watching the missile that had already advanced several kilometers, Bai Ye clenched the stone in his hand, twisted his waist, and then, with a bang, hurled the stone out.

After being thrown, the stone, protected by Internal Energy, pierced through the air's resistance at several Mach speeds, striking the Nuclear Missile warhead with pinpoint accuracy a few seconds later.

The moment of contact caused the Nuclear Missile, already in an active state and ready to detonate, to explode instantly.

Infinite light and heat erupted from the Nuclear Missile, and a massive fireball rapidly expanded. The terrifying heat vaporized everything within its range, followed by a powerful shockwave that destroyed everything in its path.

Satellites from various countries in the sky immediately pinpointed the explosion's location, and a mushroom cloud over 5,000 meters high, almost the same height as Mount Everest, rose into the sky.

Meanwhile, the unsuspecting citizens of Canada suddenly heard a roar, as if an ancient giant dragon had awakened. On this day, a significant portion of the Canadian population looked up and saw a giant mushroom cloud rising over their homeland in the distance.

Canadians: Huh???

"What a spectacular sight," Bai Ye exclaimed from within the fireball. He hadn't retreated into the void, but instead exposed his body to the Nuclear Missile's blast.

He was now at the edge of the fireball. The thousands-of-degrees heat licked at his skin, making him feel only a slight dryness. He didn't even feel any pain. After all, he had endured tens of thousands of volts of electric shock before; this was nothing.

The shockwave that spread over several kilometers exerted a pressure of no more than a thousand tons on Bai Ye's body, which was less than the intensity he put his body through during training five days ago.

As for the radiation, it couldn't compare to his recovery ability, having no effect on him the instant he came into contact with it.

The only downside was that, even with his Internal Energy protecting him, his clothes were still destroyed by the high temperatures of the flames.

Time to clean up some loose ends. Bai Ye thought, wondering what to do next. Should he resolve the problem with the American President first, or deal with S.H.I.E.L.D.?

With a move, he vanished into the sea of fire. After looting the entire base and putting the remaining Adamantium into his space, Bai Ye brought the person in charge out to the outskirts.

"Now you can tell me about the Sentinel Robot," Bai Ye said quietly, waiting for the person in charge to answer.

The person in charge, clutching his shattered shoulder, said, pale-faced, "The Sentinel Robot was initially conceived by Dr. Bolivar, who planned to create a war machine specifically designed to destroy Mutants."

"Initially, no one took it seriously. But then a scandal broke out: it was discovered through an autopsy that the American President, Kennedy, who was assassinated by Magneto, was a Mutant."

"Because it involved politics, it immediately attracted the attention of all parties. The military began to seriously consider the Sentinel program, and then, after mediation by various forces, Howard Stark and Dr. Pym both participated in the research for the Sentinel program."

Bai Ye's lips twitched. No wonder those Sentinels were so terrifying. It turned out the founder of the Pym Particles and Iron Man's dad were also involved in the research.

The person in charge continued, "With everyone's participation, the experiment progressed rapidly. In just two or three years, using the genes of a Mutant named Mystique, along with a gene fragment from a Mutant named Darwin, the Sentinel Robot research was pushed to the final stage that Dr. Stryker envisioned."

"But that wasn't the end. In their plan, the Sentinel Robots should be able to use multiple abilities simultaneously and also use Pym Particles to enlarge their bodies during combat."

"However, this project didn't continue. Dr. Pym left the experiment due to conflicts with Howard. Then, Howard died in an accident, causing the entire project to halt and be sealed away."

"I only learned about this plan a few months ago from Colonel Stryker. According to him, the plan was given to him by the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., asking him to continue development. Then, you attacked the base."

After listening to the person in charge's account, Bai Ye was completely stunned. So, the Sentinels he had just fought for so long were only a half-finished product? They still needed a Pym Particle version?
