Zeke didn't look convinced, but he didn't push either.
Astrid suddenly rose from her seat, her movements sharp and feline as she prowled toward the front of the class. Without hesitation, she hopped onto a desk, crossing her legs like she owned the room.
"So, guys," she began, her voice sweet, "the third-year Ascendant, Quinn Kastel, is hosting a party tonight. Only Ascendants and chosen Enforcers are invited which means the disgusting creatures known as Regulars and Dregs should not be anywhere near that event."
Her eyes swept over the lower-ranked students. A few Regulars and Dregs who had been gathering their things froze mid-motion, fear and anger written on their faces. Astrid smiled cruelly as she swung her legs idly off the desk.
Evren didn't stay to listen. He stood up quietly, ignoring the whispering and lingering gazes that followed him as he descended the steps. The chatter of the classroom faded the moment he stepped into the corridor.
That was when he saw her.
