Seth glanced at Alex, then back at Theo, the weight of their conversation hanging in the air.
"So the results are negative..." he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Both he and Theo shared a look of concern, perplexed by Alex's tears. They wondered what could be causing him to cry if the news was good; perhaps he had secretly wished for something else entirely.
While Seth felt the urge to hold back his questions, Theo was different. He was never one to let silence linger, especially when it came to the feelings of his friends.
"So why are you crying now?" Theo asked, his tone gentle yet probing.
Alex remained silent. It wasn't that he had ignored Theo's question—rather, he was caught in confusion, unable to articulate the turmoil within him. His emotions swirled like a tempest: sadness mixed with relief transformed into anger and longing.
Deep down, regardless of who might be the child's father, he felt a deep yearning. Yet, beneath that desire was an unsettling feeling that perhaps it was all mere wishful thinking, a delusion.
[Six years had passed since he began to keep everything bottled up. Alex was different before he started keeping everything bottled up. He used to be rather joyful and cheerful. Now it's only a facade]
Seth reached out, helping Alex to his feet. "...I don't know," Alex muttered, a whisper that barely carried. Seth and Theo's eyes met for a brief moment as they tried to decipher Alex's words.
Confused, Seth finally broke the silence by asking, "What did you say?"
"I said... I... don't know why I'm crying either," Alex repeated, the admission heavy on his lips.
The three of them stood in an uncomfortable silence, each grappling with their own thoughts. After several long seconds, it was Theo who cleared the air. He gestured for Alex to take a seat and then picked up the phone on his desk.
"Hello, Lara, are you there?" he asked once the line connected.
"Yes, Sir," came Lara's voice from the other end.
"Could you bring us three cups of coffee? Two cappuccinos and one café latte with two pumps of syrup," Theo requested.
"Okay, Sir," Lara replied. After he hung up the phone, he turned his attention back to Alex and Seth, hoping that a warm cup of coffee would help lift the weight of the moment. It was becoming increasingly difficult for him to remain calm.
The silence remained heavy as they waited for Lara to arrive, each lost in their own thoughts. Alex felt the weight of his unexpressed feelings pressing down on him, and he glanced out the window, watching the leaves dance outside in the soft breeze.
A part of him envied their carefree existence, longing for a moment of peace like the serenity of the scene before him.
Seth shifted in his seat, breaking the silence."Now, stop even thinking about what happened in the past. That guy was never worth your concern" His tone was steady, the kind of advice Alex needed even if he couldn't quite articulate it at that moment.
"Yeah, we're here for you, so screw Lucas" Theo chimed in, leaning forward, his expression earnest. "Whatever you're feeling, don't hide it. You don't have to carry it alone."
"I don't want to burden you guys with my issues. I should be happy—this is good news, right? But... it just feels complicated," he confessed, his voice trembling slightly.
Just then, there was a soft knock at the door, and Lara entered, balancing three steaming cups of coffee expertly on a tray.
"Here you go, sir, enjoy. Please let me know if you need anything else," she said with a warm smile as she set the cups down in front of them.
"Thanks, Lara," Theo said, his expression softening. The coffee aroma filled the room, creating a small comfort amidst the tense atmosphere.
As they each took a cup, Alex wrapped his hands around the warm ceramic, savoring the heat radiating through the cup.
"I don't know, maybe I'm just scared," he finally said, his voice quieter now.
Seth said gently, leaning forward. "Don't worry, we're with you, Let's hope Lucas doesn't find out".
"Yh, let's see what happens," Theo replied firmly, his gaze steady. "We care about you. We're in this together, remember what we promised each other six years ago."
Alex took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of the coffee seep into him, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there was light to be found—especially in the company of friends.
Looking between Seth and Theo, Alex didn't say a word. Theo thought that he should lighten the mood. Theo looked at Seth. He knew what Theo was hinting at.
So as they sipped their coffee, Seth slowly shifted the conversation from the weight of emotions to lighter topics, laughter gradually replacing the earlier tension.
For a moment, Alex felt a release, the whirlwind within him calming as camaraderie filled the space between them.
Meanwhile, Alex's chaos, his mind was taking over. Lucas was determined to find the Omega that had slept with his intentions were unclear now from his previous intentions.
