"Eve," he said casually, still holding her hand, as if he had no intention of letting go anytime soon. "Call me once you're done dealing with him."
Evelyn turned to him and smiled calmly.
"Hmm, I will." She tilted her head slightly and added with playful confidence, "Hubby, no need to worry about me. I seriously have a plan to handle him."
"I know," he said simply.
Then, before she could say anything else, he leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips.
The kiss was brief but warm.
When he finally let go, Axel opened the car door for her.
"Alright, my wife can go now..." he said. "But, don't tire yourself."
"Hm, I will not..." She gave him a warm smile before stepping out of the car.
The morning air felt cooler than she expected.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, her posture straightened automatically. The gentle smile she wore for Axel slowly disappeared, replaced by a calm but distant expression.
