After Alicia's car disappeared down the driveway, Evelyn stretched her shoulders and let out a long breath.
Just as she was about to return to her office, her phone rang.
It was Axel.
She answered immediately. "Yes, Axel?"
"Eve, I am at the Knight residence. Grandpa asked me to come urgently. Something big happened in the family."
A chill ran through her. "What happened?"
"I do not know yet." His voice was steady but tense. "I will tell you as soon as I get the details."
"Alright. Be careful."
"I will. And Eve...?"
"Yes?"
"I miss you already."
Her heart warmed. "I miss you too, Axel..."
"Alright, I'm going to end the call now..."
"Bye—"
They hung up, but Evelyn could not shake the uneasy feeling settling in her heart.
Something serious had happened.
She could sense it.
