"You're in a good mood," Elias commented as he stepped into the office.

I looked up from the report on my desk, arching a brow at him. I ignored his statement. "What about the prisoners?"

Some of the attackers from earlier had survived and were now in custody, receiving treatment in the prison's infirmary.

"They're alive. Unfortunately," Elias said. A shadow crossed his face, and his hands balled into fists. "Though I don't see why we're keeping them breathing. They killed people, Atlas. Families are mourning because of them. And we're here playing nurse?"

"Not for my sake, Elias," I reminded him. My voice was calm but firm.

I understood his rage. I shared it, especially after what they did to his sister. But I couldn't make decisions clouded by emotion.

"I need answers," I continued. "And right now, they're the only ones who can give them to me."
