Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 · The Server-wide Hunt

The world announcement bounty dropped like a boulder into a lake.

Countless players' eyes converged instantly on a single name—Residual Blood Maniac.

Outside the novice village, the forums and world channel spiraled into chaos.

[Bounty 5000 gold!]

[Overlord Spear's insane—this is real money!]

[Who dares? More than ten men already died to him.]

[Heh, Residual Blood is just a loophole. Meet a real pro and he's dead.]

[Shut up, it's 5000 gold! Worth the risk!]

In just fifteen minutes, countless solo players and small guilds began gathering. They might not all intend to truly kill the Residual Blood Maniac, but under such temptation, even a gamble was worth it.

At the south gate of the novice village.

Xu Zhu slung his stick over his back, stepping calmly past the wooden palisade.

Fatty Third's face went pale. "Big bro! You're crazy! The whole server's after you! Can't we just hide in the village for a few days?!"

Ling Xue shook her head, sword in hand, eyes resolute. "He can't hide. If Xu Zhu feared death, he would've died in the dungeon already."

Xu Zhu lifted his gaze toward the black night.

"The ones who want me dead will only grow."

"Then I'll make them understand—Residual Blood is no joke."

Sure enough, the first hunters appeared not far ahead.

Five players, from the small guild [Blue Flame]. Their eyes gleamed greedy, weapons shining with low-level light. The leader, a twin-blade man, sneered: "Residual Blood Maniac? 5000 gold, straight off your head!"

"Go!"

They lunged together, blades and axes whistling.

Fatty Third nearly wept. "Big bro! Let's run!"

But Xu Zhu didn't retreat—his step pivoted.

The Residual Edge snapped open!

Time stretched again. The five attack trajectories painted red death lines across his vision.

—A new dimension of the Residual Edge.

His body spun almost instinctively. Stick flicking, he deflected the first blade; foot shifting, the second axe grazed past his shoulder; the staff's shaft swept back, shattering the third man's leg!

Sparks burst. In a heartbeat, three were down. The other two froze in shock.

"He… he saw every one of our moves?!"

"Impossible!"

Xu Zhu gasped, his skull tearing in pain. Multi-line prediction with Residual Edge drained far more than one-on-one. Blood seeped at the corner of his eye, yet his stick still raised coldly.

"Still want to try?"

The five glanced at each other—then faded into gray light.

The spectator channels detonated.

[Residual Edge multi-line prediction!]

[He dodged five attacks at once!]

[Impossible!]

[Cheat cheat cheat!]

[No—this is Residual Blood Maniac!]

Ling Xue rushed forward to steady him.

"You're at the limit. Don't push."

Xu Zhu's vision blurred, breath ragged. He knew well: the Residual Edge was not infinite. Each overuse shredded both body and mind.

Yet his reply was cold: "The limit… is how I live."

Fatty Third, wiping cold sweat, raised a trembling hand: "Big bro… I've decided, I'm sticking with you. Even if I die, I'll die in the Residual Blood Maniac's party!"

Xu Zhu paused, eyes flicking to him, but said nothing.

Meanwhile, in a tavern in some distant town, a mysterious player watched the live feed in silence, gaze complicated.

He murmured: "Residual Edge… has surfaced again. Hah, so someone can endure after all."

Behind him flickered a faded insignia—an ancient guild's emblem, long vanished from history.

—Residual Blood's secret was far deeper than it seemed.

The storm had risen across the server.

The Residual Blood Maniac was no longer just a player—he was prey in everyone's eyes.

And at the same time—he was a legend in the making.
