"What the fuck is wrong with your mind, Pein?!"
Fa's voice is striking all over the room like thunder. He is still in bed, recovering from the injuries when Peinaire pays a visit. Ezra, who is diligently cutting some fruits next to Fa drops his knife in shock.
"How can you be so heartless? Caspi needs you the most now, and you told me, you want to hand him back to his family?"
"They don't like me anyway, so this will make things easier..."
"Shut up, Pein!"
Peinaire sneers, leaning herself next to the window. Her sight falls onto the damp view. The rain hasn't stopped since this morning, so the whole town looks gloomy.
Just like her heart.
A few days ago, after a good calculation—according to her—she decided it's best if Caspian goes back to his hometown. She can't bear to see the Omega's face after all that happened between them.
"I feel like a failure. I failed to give Caspi the love that he deserves. Ever since I dropped the news to him, he refused to talk to me. So, I guess, he is blaming everything on me," Peinaire calmly explained her reason.
"You two should sit down and talk. There's no need to separate! You two always work a wonder in the unit," Fa tries to persuade Peinaire.
"I don't know, Fa. Sometimes, we need to step back when there's a dead knot up front. I'm giving Caspi some space to think. If he feels unhappy with me, he can back off anytime..."
"Pein, don't you feel pity for him, at all? Caspi has no one but you. His family abandoned him. He has no friends, too!"
"What's the use of having a wife that failed you? I should've listened to him more, instead, I am too busy keeping him alive, never to really care about his feelings!" Peinaire sighs. She releases a knick-knack sound from her fingers; a sign of distress in her.
"Pein, I don't think Caspi wants separation. He was just in shock; that's a normal reaction when an Omega loses their cub. Give him some time," Ezra butts into the conversation, earnestly trying to save the couple's future.
Peinaire ponders for a while. She's being calculative again. After some time, she looks at Fa and Ezra, feeling somehow overwhelmed.
A knock on the door cuts their conversation. Ezra slowly rises from the chair and opens it. He blinks in disbelief when he sees Caspian, standing in front of Fa's room in his hospital gown.
"Is Pein here, Ez?" The Omega softly asks. Ezra nods faintly. Words stuck on his throat to reply to the poor Omega.
Ezra scoots over, revealing Peinaire to Caspian. The Omega politely enters the room and faces his Alpha.
"I'm going back to my family."
A short but compact message causes a stir in the room. Peinaire stares at her Omega with hooded eyes as her face goes stern.
"Fine. Do whatever you want."
"Peinaire! Are you mad?" Fa tries to stop his cousin, but the next words that come from Caspian halt him midway.
"Let's give us some room, Alpha Pein. I won't ask for more than alimony that stated in the prenup. If one day you meet another Omega and plans to marry them, asks Cirrus to unmarked me. Send the divorce letter, and I'll take a note on that."
"Caspi! How could you say that?"
Peinaire stops Fa from interrupting their conversation. She nods; as a sign of understanding, and shows the door to Caspian. He walks away, never to look at her again.
"Are they divorcing right in front of us?" Ezra is in shock. He turns his head to Fa. The Golden Alpha looks upset while glaring at Peinaire.
"How could you, Pein!"
"Caspian doesn't love me anymore. If he still does, why he chose to leave? If that's what he wants, it's what he gets. I'm glad that he takes the initiative before me," Peinaire replies before she leaves the room in fury.
"What's should we do now, Fa? They're getting divorce for real!"
"These two! Aish!" Fa grunts in frustration.
"Should I talk to Caspi? Maybe, I can ask Tul for help as well..."
Fa nods, brushing Ezra's hand lightly. His Omega nods, before he leaves the room to look for Tul.

"Nothing can make me change my mind, Omega Tul. Pein hates me, and I have to accept that..."
"Says who? Does she tells you that?" Tul grabs Caspian's hand softly.
"Then, why she allowed me to go home? If she loves me, she won't do that," Caspian replies, in tears. "I did what she hates the most; lying to her. I know she won't forgive me for that."
"How did you know? Maybe, she wants you to rest and clear up your mind—"
"She knows I need her the most, yet she chose to send me back to a place where I never belong," Caspian sneers, his voice sounds frustrated. "I have made my mind, Omega Tul. It's all my fault and I need to face it. Maybe this is my punishment."
Caspian pulls the zipper of his bag, patting the fabric and ready to go. At the door, Ezra is looking at the Omega; broken in silence before he leaves the ward while wiping his perhaps, the last tears.
"Caspian, think again, cub! Pein won't be the same after you. She loves you, I know..." Mei tries to persuade Caspian, but it's too late by now. He softly grabs Mei's hand, kiss it for the last time and smiles bitterly.
"It's fine. Must be hard for her to forgive me after what happened. Besides, I can't do much as her Omega, now that I can't bear a cub for her. I think, she deserves someone better than me," Caspian replies.
"Don't go, please! She will be lost without you..."
"Mom, she will be fine. She's an Alpha, she has all the rights in the world for the best Omega."
"What about you? What about your happiness?" Mei asks. The Omega is full in tears.
"Only time will tell..." Caspian pats Mei's hand softly before he let it go. Mei caresses his hand, reluctantly let Caspian leaves. From his spot, he sees Peinaire; leaning against the wall of the long corridor. Caspian musters all of his courage to face her for the last time.
"Alpha Peinaire, thanks for all your kindness. I will always owe you my life," the Omega bows for the last time before Peinaire. She holds her sadness deep inside her, looking at her Omega with the corner of her eyes. Perhaps, this is the last time they meet. So, she grabs Caspi by his underarm, prohibit him for bowing so low.
"You owe nothing from me. It's okay," says Peinaire with her deep voice.
They stare each other with a lot of emotions that aren't portrayed well on surface. Everything has been bottled up, misunderstandings that will never get to fixed unless if they agree to sit down and talk.
But, both are so in love with each other, they can't bear to say it.
Caspian holds his bag tight, leaving the Sarin for good. Only time will tell if he ever recover from the wound in his heart. No matter what it is, Peinaire will be the one and only Alpha for him.
He will never fall in love again.
