Chapter 124: Righteous Thunder — The Fury of the Raikage
The Konoha shinobi clung to Uchiha Yashiro's words like a lifeline. Only when Hokage-sama appeared to save them would their gratitude reach its peak—securing their loyalty and obedience.
Several who had already surrendered to despair now found themselves trembling with excitement. Hokage-sama was coming.
But then—
A deafening crack split the air. Blue lightning tore the night sky apart.
A massive figure descended before them, his body wrapped in roaring arcs of electricity. The forest floor hissed and charred beneath his presence, as sparks leapt from his frame to the earth itself.
Tall, dark-skinned, spiky blonde hair catching the moonlight—he stood bare-chested, muscles like iron, lightning coursing across every fiber of his being. His confidence was absolute, the weight of his aura suffocating.
Though he stood alone, he radiated the might of an entire army.
His gaze was sharp, voice booming like thunder.
"Konoha scum—are you ready to face my wrath?"
The Fourth Raikage, A.
Yashiro's eyes widened. It was his first time seeing the Raikage in person, and it was as if a beast in human form stood before him.
The Lightning Release Chakra Mode cloaking the Raikage made Yashiro's heart sink. He cursed himself for forgetting—genjutsu would be near-useless against an opponent like this. The Sharingan's power would be dulled.
"Don't panic!" Yashiro barked, forcing calm into his voice. "He's only one man!"
The Raikage's gaze swept the field. When his eyes caught the scarlet glow of multiple three-tomoe Sharingan, he quickly looked away.
"The Uchiha, is it…" he muttered, narrowing his eyes. He knew better than to look into them directly.
Yashiro clicked his tongue in frustration. As expected of the Fourth Raikage—his reaction speed is monstrous.
Then the Raikage moved.
Zzzt!
A scream ripped through the night. Then another. And another.
Even with his Sharingan spinning at full speed, Yashiro couldn't follow the Raikage's figure. He saw only the jagged streak of lightning flashing through the trees, cutting men down in its wake. Each time the light halted, a Konoha shinobi collapsed.
"Everyone, gather around me!" Yashiro roared.
The few Uchiha and Hyūga already beside him stayed firm, while the rest scrambled in desperation toward his position. But panic consumed them—they couldn't even see the enemy clearly, only hear their comrades' dying screams.
It was terrifyingly similar to another man's fighting style. The Fourth Hokage.
In less than half a minute, the battlefield was transformed. The Konoha ranks had been butchered. Among the fallen were not just chūnin, but full jōnin.
Yashiro's jaw tightened. So this is the Fourth Raikage… he truly deserves his title. His speed, his power—he carries the shadow of Namikaze Minato himself.
As silence fell, the survivors—barely more than a dozen—huddled together, eyes darting wildly. Even the Uchiha's Sharingan couldn't locate him in the oppressive dark.
"Where… where did he go?"
Several crimson eyes swept the treeline, but the forest swallowed all signs of movement. Unlike the Byakugan, the Sharingan could not pierce obstacles. They were blind.
Suddenly—
"Scatter!!" Hyūga Daichi and another Hyūga shouted in unison, terror in their voices.
But it was too late.
From above, the Raikage descended like judgment itself. His right leg, wreathed in violently concentrated lightning, swung down like an executioner's blade. The air itself screamed as the chakra tore through it.
"Liger Bomb!"
The chakra condensed around his kick sent a sting racing across every survivor's skin.
Yashiro's heart clenched. If that lands, even I'll be crushed!
Hands flew through seals—
"Substitution!"
With a burst of smoke, Yashiro swapped places with a wooden log.
BOOM!
The Raikage's strike shattered the earth. The ground buckled as if struck by a meteor, a crater exploding outward in spiderweb fractures. Towering trees toppled, torn apart like twigs.
Yashiro staggered but forced chakra into his legs, anchoring himself against the tremor. Cold sweat slid down his temple. The sheer destructive power of that one blow… it was monstrous.
Through the dust, his Sharingan locked onto the chakra-laced form still standing amidst the crater—the Raikage himself, surrounded by a storm of lightning.
The unlucky chūnin caught in the blast had been annihilated.
And Yashiro? He didn't flinch. This was part of the plan.
The weaker shinobi were always meant to fall. Their deaths only magnified the terror of the Raikage's strength—and when Hokage-sama arrived to defeat him, their awe would become worship.
Yashiro's lips even curled into a faint smile.
Because through the clearing haze of dust and lightning—he saw him.
Hokage-sama was here.
