Some readers said the tournament arc feels a bit shallow, but that's not really the case. The tournament is just a transitional stage, meant for the team to obtain the final reward—the three soul bones. The less important academies will just be skimmed over.
The real reason I wrote the tournament was because, up to now, the story hasn't had many battles. This arc is a chance to showcase the current strength of Ma Hongjun, Tang San, and the others.
Also, those who read tonight's update should already realize—the original storyline is almost fully caught up here. From this point on, most of the content will be my own creation.
New characters and side plots will gradually appear, like Luo Ying from the Spirit Hall Escort Bureau earlier. Many more new faces will show up later.
At the same time, some of the plot holes and missed opportunities in the original will be addressed here. I'll try to fill in certain regrets and deliver moments of satisfaction that the original never covered.
