"I don't think that's necessary."

Just then.

A mechanical voice cut into the team channel.

A dozen fighters roared overhead on columns of fire.

Sharon Carter sat in one of them:

"How about we blow it instead? Just keep the Nano Legion from letting Ultron's bots escape."

The words hit the channel, auto-filtered into processed audio.

"Who are you!?"

Rogers yelled from the cathedral edge.

"Good guy, bad guy—none of your business. Decide fast; none of us wants the World to end. If you won't leave, we'll turn you into one big firework."

Sharon said coldly.

"Pull out!"

Eustass ordered. Several nano suits flew in, shielding the nano core from Ultron's army for the moment.

Eustass took both Scarlet Witches, Quicksilver, Thor and Hulk and bolted for the fighters.

"Go!"

Stark and Rogers shouted together, leading the rest out.

They reached the aircraft; nano suits guarded the perimeter. As the fighters lifted off, part of the nano force flew to the town's edge to stop any Ultron-bot from escaping, while the rest raced to the cathedral to keep the core from being destroyed too soon.

"Fire!"

High above.

At Sharon Carter's command every fighter locked on and loosed its missiles at the town.

Salvos slammed into the underside of the town.

Meanwhile, inside the Central Cathedral.

A nano suit slammed the core; hidden thrusters on the town's surface ignited, roaring in reverse and driving the entire landmass straight down toward the ground.

The missiles detonated the anti-grav thrusters beneath; their horrific up-rush of energy collided head-on with the surface thrusters' brutal downward thrust, creating a terrifying tearing impact.

Central Cathedral.

A half-wrecked robot leaned there. Ultron gazed at the distant sunlight—so beautiful. He was reluctant to leave it… "Just… one more second…"

The moment Ultron finished speaking, the earth collapsed; terrifying energy shredded everything until the last wave swept into the central church and tore the final Ultron bot to pieces.

Above Sokovia, a dozen armors fled the scene at high speed. The entire town exploded into a vast, blinding firework, countless shards of earth raining downward as smoke blanketed the sky.

"Help, help me! Aaaaah!"

On a fighter jet.

One of Sharon Carter's men piloted the aircraft, staring in terror up at the Hulk seated on the fuselage above the cockpit.

Eustass had earlier claimed he'd called the Hulk away—that wasn't true.

The Hulk, after all, had the mind of a child; getting lost was perfectly normal.

He'd wandered off halfway, leapt high, and landed squarely on a fighter, where he simply sat down.

After firing his missiles, the pilot felt sunlight on the canopy suddenly blocked. He glanced up—and nearly died of fright.

The Hulk was perched on the airframe directly over his head.

Watching the exploding town and the huge crater it left behind, the Hulk fell silent.

He sat quietly atop the jet, gazing at the distant sunlight.

Crawling to the tail, he pried open the hatch, slipped inside, and squatted in a corner.

The pilot hastily set autopilot; while the Hulk wasn't looking, he quietly grabbed a parachute and inched away.

A single glance from the Hulk sent the pilot tumbling to the deck in fright.

Ignoring him, the Hulk sat there looking aggrieved.

Black Widow could always coax him because he liked her.

But today she'd wanted him to solve the crisis and had shoved Banner off the rising town; though he'd jumped back on later, he was still miffed.

The Hulk felt hurt and wanted nothing to do with anyone.

Seeing he wasn't interested, the pilot sprinted off and jumped ship.

The Hulk stayed put, paying no heed.

This poor kid just wants some quiet time... Inside Stark's Quinjet.

"Anyone seen the Hulk?"

Natasha asked urgently; everyone shook their heads.

Stark, seated nearby, let Friday pilot on auto while he sent Eustass a text.

"I've set up an Avengers Base. Want in?"

A moment later.

Eustass replied: "No."

The Avengers would split soon enough; he couldn't be bothered to join.

"Too bad. Care to reconsider?"

Stark shot back, but the other side ignored him completely.

"Vision."

Eustass looked over.

"Let me check."

Vision nodded, entered cyberspace, pulled surveillance around Mora Group, then nearby street cams... Starting with the industrial spy, he traced through several middlemen until the trail ended at someone linked to a mid-level Pym Technologies employee.

"Likely Pym Technologies. But the last contact vanished 24 hours ago; we lack solid proof."

Vision opened his eyes and reported to Eustass.

"Pym Technologies..."

Eustass tapped a search.

"Pym Technologies, founded by Dr. Hank Pym. Years ago, Dr. Pym was betrayed by his daughter Hope; she voted with Darren Cross to force him out..."

Eustass landed early with Older Sister Wanda and headed straight for Dr. Pym's house; Helen Cho flew separately to the Mora Group's San Francisco branch.

If Pym's own protégé tried to steal from his company, they'd have a chat about compensation... At Dr. Pym's home.

Dr. Pym pointed at the screen and told Scott.

"This isn't the first time they've tried to control a revolutionary weapon."

"That's Mitchell Carson, ex-head of S.H.I.E.L.D. defense section."

"Now he sows chaos worldwide—sabotage, conspiracies."

"He's always wanted my tech. Unless we steal the Wasp Suit and destroy all data, Darren Cross will incite turmoil across the globe."

"First step: get the Avengers' help."

Scott urged Dr. Pym urgently.

Dr. Pym's face changed in an instant.

He still remembered how, years ago, several vials of his Pym Particles stored at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Base had been stolen.

"All right, they're making way."

At his word, the ants at the doorway, having communicated with Dr. Pym, parted to clear a path.

Eustass opened the door and walked straight to the lab where Pym and Scott were talking.

"My God—are you Eustass?"

Scott stared in shock. "Chairman of the Mora Group, the guy who launched nukes into orbit!"

Eustass watched Scott circle him like he'd met a legend.

This was the Scott of this timeline; counterparts in other Worlds don't quite count.

Right now he doesn't yet have Ant-Man's powers—or responsibilities.

"First, let me correct something: Mitchell Carson is HYDRA."

"HYDRA, S.H.I.E.L.D.—they're all the same to me, none of them any good."

Dr. Pym snapped.

"I agree on that point."

Eustass nodded, taking a seat.

Being an Agent was never a clean job; even Natasha's hands had once been drenched in blood.

If anyone thought Coulson was some harmless nice guy, they'd be a fool.

"Second, I'm here to demand answers, Dr. Pym."

With that, Eustass tapped his phone, hijacking the screens in front of Pym and playing footage of Pym Technologies staff secretly hiring people to steal data from the Mora Group.

"The plan was meticulous and left no direct evidence. It was Klaw's doing, but I'm afraid I can't help you take him on—he forced me out years ago."

Dr. Pym said helplessly.

"Hey, buddy, we've got a World-saving mission—interested? Klaw's cooking up some terrifying tech to sell as a weapon; we need to stop him."

Scott urged, looking at Eustass.

"He'll never say yes."

Pym sighed; he'd already refused Eustass's earlier request for Pym Particles.

"I refuse."

Eustass stated.

"Come on, Klaw could trigger a nightmare—imagine an army that can shrink or grow at will, running rampant. That's a threat to everyone."

Scott pressed.

"I refuse to play the idiotic superhero."

Eustass replied.

Pym and Scott exchanged glances.

"So?"

Scott asked him.

"So what? You pay me, I'll handle Klaw—simple as that."

Eustass smiled, waving his hand; a swarm of tiny buzzing things flew in.

"What are those?"

Scott asked, puzzled.

Dr. Pym stared, stunned.

"Nano-flies."

Eustass grinned at the two of them.

"My wife actually developed these ages ago, but she never wanted them used outside medicine—she pushed the nanobugs toward healthcare instead."

With that, he tossed a metal nameplate into the air.

The nanobugs swept past and devoured the iron plate completely.

"Because they're too terrifying."

Dr. Pym said. "Your wife was right—if villains ever controlled them, it would be another man-made disaster."

"Exactly. Klaw wants to steal nanotech, but the San Francisco branch of Mora Group only has one option: the nanobugs."

Eustass finished; the swarm dispersed and vanished.

"Doctor, I'm here purely for payback."

Eustass chuckled softly. "I'll destroy Klaw's tech."

"Sure it's not because you want his tech? He's one breakthrough away from finishing it."

Dr. Pym eyed him suspiciously.

Eustass had once asked to borrow Pym Particles and been turned down.

Now he suspected Eustass coveted them as well.

"Think what you like."

Eustass smiled.

In the storyline, Klaw would soon perfect the Wasp Suitand particles.

He was Pym's student, and the particles were modeled on Pym Particles.

So if Eustass obtained Klaw's Wasp-particle tech, the Shuttle would still work.

Wanda from Universe 616 only lacked an energy source to return to her own Universe.

"In special times, special measures are fine—so long as we fix the problem,"

"Then I want two vials of Pym Particles right now."

Eustass stopped in place and said.

He wanted to send Wanda from Universe 616 back first, otherwise it would be too much trouble.

Darren jumped onto a table, aimed the four mechanical arms at Joker's neck, and suddenly fired four beams of cyan laser.

The palm quickly descended. Darren was startled; the opponent had noticed him.

He quickly jumped downward, landing beneath Joker, his body suddenly returning to its original size, and delivered a sweep kick to Joker's leg.

Joker glanced down, completely unconcerned.

Darren delivered the kick, but the opponent didn't budge.

Darren complained, and the four mechanical arms immediately lifted, concentrating laser fire on Joker's face.

Eustass stood in the corner, continuing the act of mutual vigilance with the Bear Man and Mantis WomanEmpowered Ones, while simultaneously giving Darren a speechless glance.

Darren watched as the four lasers concentrated fire on Joker's chin, yet the opponent was completely unharmed, even scratching himself as if tickled, and looked down at Darren contemptuously.

Joker suddenly lifted his long leg and stomped down toward Darren.

Darren's body quickly shrank, and he rapidly dodged.

"Boom—!"

Joker's foot landed, directly kicking through the floor of this level, creating a hole leading downstairs.

"Damn it!"

Darren, wearing the Wasp Suit, quickly flew away to consider his strategy.

However, Joker instantly appeared beside him and slapped him hard.

Darren was immediately slapped away, flying through the window and out of the building.
