Chapter 583 - Ch: 31-35

Chapter 31

The Mystic Grill, the main restaurant in the town I had only visited it twice before. I was here now as I wanted to check to make sure the city had no vervain left. I remembered a line in the show about Liz adding vervain to the drinks inside the restaurant and the town's water supply. I had worked out quite quickly that there was no vervain in the drinks, after sampling every drink that had any alcohol in them.

Fortunately, due to my regeneration, alcohol did not affect me, well, not in the small quantities the restaurant had. So now I was enjoying glasses of wine, from the winery I partly owned. Honestly, I was glad that my wine had no vervain tainting it, as if it did, I would have felt personally insulted. That was where I found myself when a familiar voice called out to me, "Mr Mikaelson".

I turned and saw the face of Jenna, Elena's aunt, walking towards me, letting a smile cross my face. I responded, "Jenna, please call me Asmund. How are you"? "Well, Asmund, I am good all things considered, you?" she asked, a slightly sad look appearing on her face for a moment before returning to her previous happy expression. "I am good thanks Jenna, would you like to join me?" I asked. "Sure I will do". She responded.

I bought us both another drink, wine again. "I did not take you for a wine person, Asmund" Jenna said with a slight smile. "Oh really what did you think was my drink of choice"? I asked returning her smile. She thought for a second before answering, "Scotch, a single malt scotch, you have that vibe" I let out a laugh at her answer "Well, to be truthful, I do quite enjoy a good scotch; wine just so happens to be my more preferred drink" I answered her.

A chime interrupted our conversation, Jennas phone. She checked it and let out a huff drawing interest from me. "Is everything all right?" I asked her. "Yes, well, no, not, it's Elena, her mother, who showed up a few days ago, her biological mother, after eighteen years of getting nothing from her, she shows up and wants a relationship with her. I don't know what to do, she did not have an actual reason for abandoning her, and I'm convinced she will leave again and will hurt her". She answered with a tear in her eye.

I thought for a moment before speaking, "If you want my opinion, whatever you say will probably not convince her. If you try to stop her from seeing her mother, all you will do is make her resent you. All you can do is just be there to pick up the pieces if it goes wrong," I said, offering my opinion on the matter. Jenna seemed to appreciate my opinion, "That is very good advice, thank you, Asmund," she said while putting a hand on mine.

So, Isobel was here in Mystic Falls, in the show, she only appeared after Alaric had taken a job at Mystic Falls High School. Yet here she had arrived early, had my presence affected the timeline this badly?

We continued talking and drinking for a few more hours, talking mainly about Jenn's life. Although I knew most of the information from the show she did fill me in on parts that were left out. Before either of us knew it, the Mystic Grill had reached its closing time, so we left, offering to walk Jenna home, which she eagerly agreed to.

We walked for about fifteen minutes, the night had a distinctive chill and I also spied something in the trees appearing to follow us. My guess was a vampire, though I was not sure which one of the many that inhabited this town would dare to follow me.

We arrived in front of the Gilbert residence, and it seemed to have been a surprisingly quick walk. "Would you like to come in for a coffee?" she asked with a lustful look on her face. "I would" I responded before following her inside.

As soon as we entered, she dropped all pretence, walking up to me and kissing me. I kissed back dropping a hand to her waist and pulling her in with my other hand. Her hands raked through my hair pulling me deeper into the kiss. Her lips were amazingly soft, with a slight taste of wine on them from our previous drinks.

She pulled away briefly looking into my eyes before dropping to her knees. I watched as the hot redhead sank to her knees while dragging her hands all over my muscular body. Looking up at me, she unbuckled my belt, pulling my trousers and underwear down in a single action. She took out my cock, letting out a slight gasp at the size before kissing the tip, then dragging her tongue down its side before trying to take it in her mouth.

I looked down at her, tracing my hands through her hair as she started to swallow my cock. Her soft, pillowy lips wrapped around my shaft as my tip touched the back of her throat. Her hands wrapped around me pushing me deeper, allowing me to lose myself in the tightness of her throat.

I started thrusting forward, slowly revelling in the warmth of her throat, in her tongue as it encircled my shaft. I thrust harder now, as chokes escaped the redhead, yet I looked down and saw determination in her eyes even as she pulled me in. With one final groan of pleasure, I wrapped my hands into her hair with all the more force as I released a blast of cum directly into her stomach.

I pulled her up to her feet, locking my mouth to her neck and dragging her over to the kitchen counter. I turned her around, pushing her over the counter, she looked over her shoulder, locking eyes with me "Fuck me, Asmund". I reached my hands to her skirt pulling it down, admiring her sexy, smooth legs. With one hand, I reached down, pulling her panties to the side before thrusting deep inside her.

Jenna let out a loud moan, as she came instantly to my deep thrust. I started to thrust, taking her deep and fast, as her moans filled my ears. Reaching around, I unbuttoned her shirt, pulling her bra down, allowing me to fondle those perfect, perky breasts.

As I pushed deep inside, her pussy clenched my shaft, her wet, warm, tight walls trying to draw another load from me. I took one hand down to her pussy to toy with her clit, increasing her moans, while I brought my other hand up to her neck, turning it so I could capture her lips. I started thrusting harder as I felt her body starting to spasm as she got closer to the edge. I pushed deeper, faster, harder while increasing my actions on her clit, pushing her over the edge and drawing a scream of pleasure from her.

"Take me upstairs" she managed to get out between breathy moans. I picked her up bridal style and did just that following her directions to her room. I pushed her onto her bed and entered her again, locking lips with her, allowing our tongues to wrestle.

I thrust deep but slow, drawing as much pleasure from her as possible while tracing my hands all over her body. I moved my mouth to her neck, decorating her pale flesh with a hickey while her legs wrapped around my back, pulling me deeper. Her mouth met my shoulder her teeth barely leaving a mark on my enhanced flesh, as her nails raked across my back.

We came together her hips smashing upwards into mine, while I filled her womb to the brim with my seed. I flipped us over, able to tell that Jenna was too tired to continue, so I just lay her on my chest. Her head rested on me, while her eyes looked up lovingly into mine. We let sleep take us, the heat of Jennas' body pressed against me, allowing me to slip easily into a deep sleep.

I woke up, realising mine and Jennas' clothes were still dotted around the house, so I went to retrieve them. Slipping out from the sleeping redhead and sneaking downstairs. I found them littered over the bottom of the house, gathering them, I was disturbed by a slight creak of a floorboard. Looking around my eyes met those of Elena.

"Mr Mikaelson, what are you doing?" she asked rhetorically. "Elena, hello, how are you, I thought you would be sleeping, my aunt and I were just talking", I said, with a slight lie. "Talking, that's not what it sounded like", she responded, a slight smile appearing on her lips.

"Well I don't know what to tell you then" I responded slightly caught off guard by her straight forwardness. "it sounded like you were fucking my aunt, is that not a bit inappropriate, screwing the aunt of one of your students, Mr Mikaelson" she said, the smile on her face widening. "you must be hungry after all that activity, would you like to have something to eat" she continued while pulling her hair to the side, bearing her neck to me.

"Elena", I started, but was interrupted by her speaking again "I want you to bite me, you can feed from me whenever you want", she said with a husky tone. When I die, I am going to hell, I thought before approaching her. "Are you sure, once we do this, there is no going back?" I asked, with a nod, and she confirmed her intentions.

I opened my mouth and brought it to her neck, driving my fangs into her and starting to draw blood from the young doppelganger. Blood flowed into my mouth, like liquid silk flowing into my mouth, the young brunette before me letting out a quiet moan. Her hands grasped deeply into my hair pulling me closer, as I continued to drink.

Soft moans continued leaving her lips as I continued drinking, drinking down as much of her rich blood as I could.

I pulled back after a few minutes, taking all I could without negatively affecting her, before licking the small amount of blood that had trailed down her neck. I stepped back looking into her eyes, biting into my wrist and offering it to her. She drank taking my blood into her, healing the wound on her neck. "Thank you, Mr Mikaelson, we should do this again, whenever you're hungry", she spoke with a teasing tone. Then she turned and walked away, hips swaying as she left.

I watched her perky ass leave my vision, she tasted amazing, her blood was euphoria I wanted, no needed to taste it again. Though I knew it was probably best not to drink from one of my students, I knew that now I had done it once, I would not be able to resist in the future.

Well, that was unexpected, enjoyable, but unexpected. Hopefully, it will not lead to any issues shortly. I decided to leave, thinking about what just happened, for another time, so I went back to join Jenna in bed, her body instinctively wrapping around me as I joined her.

Chapter 32

I was meeting with the tomb vampires. Over the past few days, they adapted quickly to the modern world. Though they still had a far way to go, a few had even started finding properties in the area to live in though most still remained in the large house that Anna acquired. I was there to deliver the first batch of daylight rings, only five of them at the moment. I could have made more, but I wanted to see what those who got them would do.

"So Pearl, now you have the first daylight rings, I would recommend you slowly start moving your vampires in. Though you still should be careful, the towns' vervain may have been destroyed, but we both know that is not the only way to hunt us," I said. Pearl and the other ancient vampires had met with me to discuss my future plans and I was quite glad she thought to include the other older vampires.

"We will do, a few of our number have adapted to the modern world exceptionally and we plan to send them in first. I have also instructed to try to fit in, getting jobs and trying to blend in for now" she responded in her regal accent.

"Good, then onto the next few things that need doing. First, I would recommend that you have your vampires train their combat skills, their speed and their strength. As unknown to a lot of our species, we do get stronger the more we use our abilities, and it would be a good idea for your group to get as strong as possible," I said, explaining what I had discovered.

"I admit that I did not know that we could get stronger through training, but now I do, I will definitely have my subordinates start training", she responded. "Well now onto the second thing, the Lockwood family can not be compelled, as they are werewolves. You and those with you are old enough to know that they are quite the threat. So I would recommend staying away from them" I said, not mentioning that most of the Lockwoods have not triggered the curse as of yet. "I will make sure that we stay away from them, werewolf bites could be a problem, one we don't need to deal with," Pearl agreed.

"Good, the last thing is to do with Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes and Bonnie Bennet, they and there families are under my protection. Any vampire that even looks at them the wrong way will die by my hand, make sure yours know this above all else," I said, making sure that Pearl knew just how serious I was. "I had assumed you were protecting them, and I have already told my vampires not too go near them. Elena though she is a doppelganger, right?" she asked. "Yes, she is", I answered without going further into it. "Now that all that is done, I must leave. I have other things to attend to. Have a good day", I said before leaving.

I walked through town heading back home, a slight chill was in the air as darkness had started to fall upon the town. It seemed as though most of the tomb vampires would be loyal which I was glad about. The last thing I needed was to have to fight a war for Mystic Falls, I would win, of course, but the damage that they could inflict could be catastrophic.

The next thing to do now is to remove the mayor, having any werewolves around is not something I wanted, even inactive ones. But for now, I would leave the rest of the Lockwoods alone, but the mayor was a threat mainly because he was in the founding family's vampire-hunting group.

The town was busy, more than usual, as the town was throwing a party for the founders' day. Apparently, they throw every year on the anniversary of the town's founding. So the town was completely alive, the main square completely packed with families enjoying the party.

At the centre of the square lay a large stage, where mayor Lockwood would make a speech about the town and it's history. This was where I would make my strike, with just a small amount of magic, I would kill the mayor with a single painless action. The only problem and the only reason I had to do this in public was that I needed to be able to see my target.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the familiar face of Rose walking towards me. "This is quite nice, small compared to some of the parties we have been to, but it's nice," she said while coming to lean on my side. "It is, they do this every year, to show pride in the towns history. They even have a museum at the town hall, it shows artefacts from the towns past", I responded, wrapping my arm around her.

"We should go see what they have there, perhaps we could learn something" she said while looking over at the gathering crowds. "Definitely, I want to at the least see of any of those artefacts are of the magical variety, the town has had alot of witches inhabit it over the years. If they do have any, then they may find them lost," I whispered into her ear, gaining a small laugh from her.

"We should go now, then, we still have a few hours until the mayor gives his speech, so we have plenty of time", she said, starting to lead us away. We walked to the town hall, the giant building looming in the main street, standing as a monument to the town's history.

I walked through with Rose at my side, examining the many historical displays, art depicting the first of the town's buildings, the first settlers and many other things. They were not truly of interest to me, though; no, it was the physical artefacts that interested me. There were many of them, several rings, necklaces and other such jewellery filled many tables, making the quiet voice in my head that I gained when I killed the dragon call out to me to take them and hoard them. On other tools used in the building of the town's first homes, one of which had a tinge of magic staining it, a large mallet-like hammer, what the magic on it did, I had no idea, though I would soon enough.

I moved onto the second-to-last display, an entire display of weapons, all of which caught my interest. Many flintlock rifles sat in a row, most in poor condition, except one that was near perfect, probably never used. Out of all the weapons that were there, the ones that drew my interest were a set of five ornate flintlock pistols and a set of daggers. Each of those weapons had inscribed in Latin 'death to all beasts', with the daggers being made of silver and a leather pouch of silver bullets. I assumed they were made for hunting werewolves. As my attention focused on the silver bullets I could smell the strong scent of wolfsbane on them, even centuries after they were no doubt made.

Although I doubted that any of them had spilt the blood of werewolves since Silber does not harm them. In fact, it does the opposite, triggering the wolf's healing factor, the myth that they would cause harm being spread by the wolves themselves. Quite smart really spreading a rumour that one of the things that helps you would harm you.

Perhaps, though, they were made for other 'weres' as I had heard rumour of their existence over the years. Though I had searched, I could never confirm any of those rumours, so they were probably made up by werewolves.

I was interrupted from my thoughts by the familiar voice of Elena, "Mr Mikaelson, I did not think you would be here" she said, drawing my attention. Turning, I saw Elena, Caroline and Jenna walking over to me and Rose. "Yes, we wanted to get out of the house. How are you all?" I responded, matching Elena's cheery tone.

"We are good, thanks", they answered as one. "Jenna, I would like you to meet Rose, my girlfriend" I introduced both of them, both knew of each other and my relationship with each of them. Though I still noticed the slight dirty looks they gave each other. "Nice to meet you," Rose answered, shaking her hand.

"Well, how are you enjoying the party? I helped plan some of it," Caroline asked, breaking the awkward air that had started to build. Thank god for Caroline and her need to have assurance that everything she did was done well. "It's great, Caroline, I had no doubt something this good had your input in it", I said, making sure to compliment the young blonde's work.

"Elena, don't you have a friend called Stefan with a brother called Damon?" Jenna asked while looking at a list of founding family members. "Yes, I do", she said with a slightly panicked tone. "They are the original Salvatore brothers, probably the modern-day ones got their names from", I said, answering any unasked questions.

"We should probably head back outside now, the fireworks display will start soon", Caroline once again spoke up. We all agreed, then started to leave, quickly finding a not-too-crowded place to watch the display.

The fireworks started not too long after and it was actually extremely good. But not long after it started, a pain erupted inside my head. Looking to the side, I noticed Rose was in far more pain than I was. I put my hand on her shoulder to steady her before talking to Elena, Caroline and Jenna "Rose is not feeling too great. We are going to go. I hope you enjoy the rest of the show" I managed to get out through the pain.

I was already moving before they had responded, moving both myself and the near-unconscious Rose to a quieter area. I did not get far before the pain hit even worse causing me to fall to the ground. Within a couple of moments, a couple of deputies were in front of us, guns drawn, pointed at our hearts. Realising they were not planning to shoot yet, I closed my eyes, pretending to be unconscious, while carefully wrapping my magic around the gun pointed at Rose's heart. If they tried to shoot, their guns would jam, and it would only take a single action to obliterate them both with magic.

They pulled us up, chucking us into a cop car and driving us towards a building. When we arrived they dragged us out and to the basement of a shop, inside lay many other vampires in a similar condition. No doubt incapacitated in the same way as we had been.

The Gilbert device had to be; in the show, it was used to launch an attack against all the supernaturals in Mystic Falls. Though I doubted that it would be used here as it requires a witch to activate it, Bonnie is the one to activate it in the show. But I doubted she activated it here due to my training her and the loyalty I gained from her for saving her grandmother. That meant another witch had been used by the founding families, one that would not get the chance to cast another spell if I had anything to say about it. That also meant one of the most hated characters in the show had returned and was probably plotting to take over the founding family's vampire-hunting group.

Chapter 33

While still awake I looked around the room, the agony from the Gilbert device still screaming in my head. There were probably twelve vampires in the room, excluding Rose and me. I could make out the faces of many of the tomb vampires, only two not being among them. Those being Damon and Stefan Salvatore, another difference from the show as Stefan was not captured in it.

Just as I was about to get up and start my escape the scream from the Gilbert device got all the louder as the basement door opened. John Gilbert came down the stairs followed by five deputies, dragging the subdued Anna and holding the device that caused all this. The deputies unceremoniously threw Anna to the ground, John stood over her before starting to speak.

"I am going to let all these vermin burn, but you, Anna, I want to do it personally. You should have stayed away from Jeremy. Once I kill your mother, it's next. Then all the other vampires with her, then the rest of the cancer upon the earth that is vampires" he let out, hate filling his voice. He raised the stake and drove it down with full force.

The stake stopped an inch away from Anna's heart as I controlled the blood in his hand pulling it up slightly. I dragged myself to my feet, fighting the scream of the Gilbert device, and John fell back. With another, the Gilbert device stopped mid-air, and with my magic, I pulled it onto its components. Pulling the stopwatch that was part of it into my hand, drawing it out of magic and slipping it into my pocket, while crushing the rest of it into dust.

The deputies who had been frozen up until now drew their weapons and started firing at me. I let them not do anything to resist for a moment, out of the corner of my eye, I saw John stand and approach the stake still on hand. His face filled with confidence as he drove the stake into my chest, it barely passed through my body and into my heart. The confidence on his face rapidly disappeared as a smile crossed mine, then I took him by his throat and threw him across the room.

I raised one hand at the deputies and directed their blood into their hearts, forcing their blood to expand their hearts until they ruptured, causing all of them to die painfully. The vampires on the floor had started to rise, "drink, drink deep from these vermin, regain your strength and leave. Kill no innocents, but if any try to stop you, show no mercy". As I spoke they started to do as I said, tearing the deputies apart before leaving, only Anna and Rose staying by my side.

John was the only human still alive, as I had hidden him with magic to allow me to deal with him myself. I pulled him back in front of me, forcing him to look directly at me. "What, how. Fuck it, kill me, you freak," he screamed at me in pure rage. "I will, let me just take something first" I said before grabbing his hand and tearing it off at the wrist. His screams filled my ears as I pulled his ring off his hand. "I just wanted to make sure you no longer had a way to come back from death. Yes I know that this little ring allows you to come back from death as long as it is a supernatural that kills you".

He opened his mouth to try and speak as fear filled his face, though no words had a chance to leave his mouth. Flames started to flow out of my hand covering his entire body, giving him the same agonising death that he intended for me and the other vampires.

"We should leave" I said to Rose and Anna, leaving the building with both at my side. Once we left I turned back on the building and shot another gout of flame at the building. The fire should cover up the events that had happened and make it look like all vampires had been killed. "I should get back to my mother, make sure she is okay", Anna said, with a nod of confirmation. I watched as she left. "You should go and check on Lexi and Alexandria, they weren't planning on leaving the house tonight, but it would still be good to check", I said to Rose. With one thought, I pulled her in for a kiss, "I am glad you're okay," I continued before she sped away.

The attack ruined my chance of killing the mayor, although he may still have been killed under the assumption that he was a vampire. Being a supernatural, the Gilbert device would have affected him; in fact, he was incapacitated in the show. Though with all the changes my presence had made to the story so far I would still prepare for the chance that the mayor was still alive.

I walked back through the crowds heading straight back to Elena, Caroline and Jenna. I found them after a few minutes of searching, well I found Elena and Caroline. "Where is your aunt"? I asked Elena, who turned at the sound of my voice. "She went home. Why are you back? Is Rose okay"? She said, speaking all those back to back. "Okay, to find you and yes, it was a weapon designed to harm us, we are okay, though it's been destroyed. Oh, yes, and you should have this," I said while giving the Gilbert watch back to her. She nodded guessing the watch had something to do with the attack.

"Why do you have this watch? It belongs to Jeremy, we lent it to Mayor Lockwood for the display in the town hall," Elena said. "It was a part of a device to subdue all supernaturals, well, all those with enhanced senses. I destroyed the rest of the device and syphoned all the magic out of the watch, so it's of no threat anymore," I explained to her. "Thanks for not destroying it", she said, a smile crossing her face.

"Are you okay? Is that how your shirt got those holes?" Caroline spoke up while checking me over. Looking down I remembered that I had actually been shot and staked, destroying my shirt. "Yes, I am fine, Caroline, though your concern is nice. I have something for you as well, I said, taking the Gilbert ring out of my pocket. This will protect you from any supernatural, as long as you're wearing it, it will bring you back from death. Sorry Elena, since you're a doppelganger and as such supernatural, it would not help you", I said while slipping the ring onto Caroline's finger, noticing the blush that filled her cheeks.

A buzz ran through my pocket from my phone. Pulling it out of my pocket, I saw a message from Rose letting me know that Alexandria and Lexi were both okay. My house was outside of the area the Gilbert device affected, meaning that neither Lexi nor Alexandria was affected by it.

"Right then, I am off home. I shall see you both later", Elena said before leaving. One, she left, Caroline spoke again, "I heard you drank from Elena", she said suddenly. "If I did", I asked. "I am not judging, but perhaps I feel a bit left out", she said while running a hand across my chest. "I want you to drink from me, to,o," she said while walking towards an alleyway.

I followed the young blonde after a second of hesitation. When I arrived in the alleyway, she had already pulled her hair to the side, neck bare for me, and a lusty look on her face. "Go on, do it, bite me", she said while wrapping her hands around my neck. Listening, I brought my mouth to her neck and repeated my previous actions with Elena. I bit into the neck of another of my students.

Caroline let out a moan as my fangs buried into her neck and her blood filled my mouth. Hot, warm blood filled my mouth as Caroline's hands wrapped around my hair, dragging me further in. Pulling back for a moment I looked into her eyes before switching to the other side of her neck and bit into her again.

As moans left her neck, I stopped drinking, having had my fill. I descended back to her neck, licking the blood of each side of her neck, gaining more moans from her. I pulled back and repeated my previous actions with Elena, slicing my finger and feeding the young blonde my blood, healing the wounds at her neck.

I thought for a minute as Caroline leaned against me before speaking. "Care to commit a bit of larceny with me"? I asked gaining a slightly confused look from Caroline before she eagerly agreed. I held her hand and pulled her into my side before casting an invisibility spell on us both, before walking back to the town hall.

"What are we doing" Caroline whispered into my ear. "A few of the artefacts at the town hall are magic in nature, I think they would be better in my custody" I whispered back. Caroline responded with a slight laugh before we continued forward.

We were in front of the table holding the magically enhanced hammer. I put my hand onto it, pulling it off the table. The hammer seemed far heavier than its size would suggest. I looked it over, noticing the many runes all over its handle. From what I could tell the runes made the hammer heavier, more durable and a few other runes that mattered less. I slipped it into one of the pockets in my ruined jacket before moving to the table with weapons.

I looked them over, seeing only one that piqued my interest, a small steel dagger that had escaped my notice before. It was awfully familiar and far older than any of the others, on it lay the name Asmund carved into the hilt in runic script. I picked it up feeling the familiar weight of my old dagger, the one I trained with before I found my skill in magic. How they had it confused me, I thought it lost a millennium ago. I knew one thing, though: I would not lose it again, so I slipped it into my belt next to the still-hidden sword that sat there.

"Have you got what you wanted? If so, we should leave before someone notices they are missing", Caroline spoke. At my nod, we left. Caroline still pressed against my side, and we walked through the town, my invisibility still keeping us both hidden. "I should go", Caroline said again, "You can feed on me again in the future, if you want to," she continued shyly, adding the last bit. "Of course, you do t think I would just be satisfied with one taste, do you"? I responded, noticing the blush that rose on her cheeks and the smile that appeared on her face.

Caroline then left to go home, and I did the same. Glad that the day was over I started the walk home, thinking about how I had once again fed on a student and how I told myself I wouldn't. Though there was not much I could do to resist either the young blonde or the brunette doppelganger so I would not dwell on it any longer.

Chapter 34

It had been a week since the use of the Gilbert device; in total, only four vampires had actually died, staked by the deputies. All the other vampires in town had managed to slip out of the grasp of the deputies when I destroyed the device. From what I could tell, the founding family vampire-hunting group still believed that all the vampires had been destroyed, at the loss of many of their own. The one thing I was glad about was that the attack confirmed the town had no vervain at all, since none was used to incapacitate the vampires after the Gilbert device was destroyed.

Each of the four of them we had managed to recover their bodies, having a funeral for them. All of the remaining tomb vampires were attending along with me, Rose, and Alexandria. Talks of revenge could be heard from many of the vampires, though luckily it seemed as though Pearl had managed to talk them out of doing anything rash.

We had also moved forward with our plans to gain a foothold in the town as some of Pearl's vampires had taken the fallen deputies' jobs. This allowed us a higher chance to cover up any vampire attacks and gave us important information. The mayor had also been killed during the attack, staked by his own wife, who was under the impression that he was a vampire. The Gilbert device had affected him after all, though the fact that his own wife killed him was very surprising.

Many properties had been bought by me, put in the names of Pearl, Anna, Rose, Alexandria and myself, spreading them out so none of us looked to have too much of a monopoly in the town. We had been going relatively slowly, mainly sticking to properties on the outskirts of town, mainly sticking with industrial buildings or abandoned properties. As it turns out, there were quite a few abandoned houses within the outskirts of town, which allowed the vampires under Pearl to start moving out of her property. This would help gain control and minimise the risk of an attack by hunters taking out large numbers of vampires at once.

I had also continued teaching Bonnie, Elena and Caroline. Bonnie's control over her magic was increasing slightly every day, and she confirmed that she did not use the Gilbert device. I, of course, was only sure that she told the truth by being able to hear her heartbeat, unfortunately, that meant the witch that had activated the device was still at large. Bonnie had become quite apt at spellcraft and mixed with her massive amount of natural power would no doubt make her a very powerful ally in the future.

Caroline and Elena had also improved with their training, becoming more skilled at fighting, though not anywhere close to being able to fight a vampire in a fair fight. Though they could hold their own, and if lucky, may even survive against one. Though it was fair to say that when they eventually became vampires, their training would prove to be extremely useful and give them the edge against any vampires they would fight against.

My relationship had also steadily moved forward with both Caroline and Elena, having fed on both multiple times. I had also noticed something weird, it seemed as though their constant consumption of my blood had been slightly increasing their strength and speed. Though the improvements were only small, it was noticeable; they would still have no chance against even a weakened newly turned vampire. I had tried to resist their offer of feeding on them, but it turned out I could only deny them for so long, so I gave up and stopped resisting, feeding on them whenever I could.

Something did cause me some small amount of concern though, Mason Lockwood Tyler's uncle had returned to Mystic Falls. While he would not be a threat at all to me, he would start pushing Tyler towards his werewolf lineage and could draw more werewolves to Mystic Falls. I also knew in the show that Mason coming to Mystic Falls would be the first steps in the return of Katherine, though it would not be the same here.

The air around Mystic Falls was even more tense with the multiple deaths during the Founders Day parade. The town had several weeks of a serial killer running around, then during a celebration the one time that they could forget about all that had been transpiring. During that one moment that should have been for celebration, they lost their mayor and most of the deputies. Though it seems their story is of an errant firework setting a building alight, causing the death of the 'heroic' deputies who rushed to put it out. The mayor's death was put down to an undiagnosed heart condition that just so happened to choose the founders day parade to appear.

One thing that had seemed to slip under the town's radar was the fact that two of the town's artefacts were missing. The dagger that belonged to me when i was human, I had spent a fair punt of time making sure that it was in perfect condition. Before replacing the handle, it was a very well-made blade; it had survived a thousand years after all.

Though the dagger was nice to have in my possession it was not as interesting as the hammer I had also acquired. The hammer's runes were interesting and of a very decent quality. I assumed it was made by the same witch who had enchanted the Gilbert Device, though I was not entirely sure. It would sit with my other magical items and dark objects waiting for the opportunity to be used, though I did not know when that would happen.

I was currently on my way to meet Sheriff Forbes as she had something to talk to me about, though I was not entirely sure what. She had asked me to meet at the sheriff's office, her home territory. Perhaps she was leading me into a trap; hopefully not, though it would be unfortunate to have to kill or compel Caroline's mother.

I walked through the doors to the sheriff's office, noticing three new deputies who happened to be Pearl's vampires. Hopefully, the other open positions would also be taken up by vampires. As I entered, one of them came up to me, "Sir, what are you doing here? Do you have orders for us"? He asked, "I am here to see the sheriff" I responded, he nodded before speaking again ", She is in her office, just say the word and we will be at your side", he said. I nodded, appreciating the show of loyalty from the vampire, before continuing to the sheriff's office.

I knocked, waiting for permission to enter. When it came, I walked into the office, where Liz Forbes sat behind a desk, papers spread atop it haphazardly. Looking at Liz, I could see that she had not slept in days, heavy bags lay under her eyes, coffee cups littered her desk, and papers were around her. "Sheriff Forbes", I said with a slight smile on my face. "Asmund, thank you for coming. How are you?" she asked, returning the smile. "I am good, thanks, though I am wondering why you asked me here", I responded.

"Yes, why are you here? As I am sure you're aware, there will be a party at the high school next week. A Halloween party, right now with the curfew we should either cancel or send deputies to keep an eye on things" She answered. Yes the Halloween party, I don't know what it was with this town but they seed to have a new party every week. "we are planning to send two deputies to keep an eye on everything, with the animal attacks it is needed, but with everything happening recently I just wanted to ask if you would also keep an eye on things. The deputies we are sending are new, so it would be good if I had someone there that I knew I could trust," she continued explaining things.

"I can do that for you, we wouldn't want to have to cancel the party, I will call you if there is anything suspicious", I said, which seemed to relax her a bit. "Thank you, Asmund, the last week has been very stressful, and you have taken one weight off my shoulders", she responded. I nodded at her before saying goodbye to her and leaving. So I would be playing babysitter to a bunch of teenagers again, luckily there was very little chance of anything going wrong.

My phone went off, pulling it out, I noticed a text message from Caroline 'want a snack' it said, and a photo attached showed the young blonde baring her neck. I responded agreeing before she sent me her location, to which I sped to the location she sent me as quickly as I could.

As I reached there location I saw both Caroline and Elena speaking with another unknown women. "so your the one that my boys seem to be so taken with" she said while looking at Elena "don't worry we don't care about your boys, we only care about one man and he is far better than either of your boys" Caroline said mockingly. At that, the woman shot out her hand, knocking Caroline to the side.

Instantly, I was between them, preparing to rip the woman I now knew to be a vampire apart. Seeing me, she disappeared. I could have given chase, but I chose not to. Instead, I went to Caroline, giving her my blood to heal any injuries the vampire caused. I pulled her up into my arms "Are you okay?" I asked both of them "Yes, we are now", Caroline responded, a smile on her face, as Elena closed the distance between us.

"Who was that? Who was she on about?" I asked, hoping the woman had given some clue about her away. "She said that she turned Damon and Stefan, though she did not say her name," Elena spoke up. Just as I feared, she would come after both of them again, "Caroline should stay with you for a while, and I will keep an eye on you both", I said to agree to an agreement from both of them.

"Do you still want to feed from us?" Caroline said with a lusty smile on her face. "No, you need your strength, I will take you both home", I responded, noting the look of disappointment from both young women. With that, I pulled them close and began walking them home. My mind was working overtime with all the new events that had been happening.

The women who sired the Salvatore brothers seemed to have a similar relationship with them that Katherine did in the show. She would, without a doubt, need to be removed before she tried to go after Elena or Caroline again. For now, though, I would ask Pearl to have a couple of her strongest and most loyal vampires keep an eye on both the young women. Until I could find that woman and deal with her, whether that meant I would recruit her or the more likely outcome killing her. Though I would still give her a fair chance to swear allegiance to me.

We arrived at Elena's house quite quickly, and I left Elena and Caroline after a quick goodbye, noting the longing looks from both. Before heading to speak with Pearl, after that was dealt with, I would head home and inform Rose, Alexandria and Lexi of the new threat.

Chapter 35

It had been almost two days since I encountered the sire of the Salvatore brothers, Lexi had told me a bit about her. She, of course, knew something about her since she was a friend of Stefan, her name was Catalina—a Spanish woman, unlike the show where there sire was Bulgarian. Lexi did not know when she was sired, but knew she was over four hundred years old. She had also been assumed dead, but just as Damon realised she escaped that fate, instead it was thought that she was locked inside the tomb. As it would turn out she escaped her fate again, dodging the risk of being put in the tomb and disappearing until she had reappeared here in Mystic Falls.

So far, even with all the vampires I had looked for Catalina, nothing had come of it; it seemed as though she had once again disappeared. I still had several vampires keeping an eye on Caroline and Elena just in case, but so far it seemed she was smart enough not to try again.

That just left me to continue my plans and prepare for the Halloween party. I remembered that in the show Damon and Vicki would appear and cause trouble. Mainly, Vicki attempted to go after Jeremy while the party was going on, which resulted in her death at the hands of Stefan Salvatore. Perhaps I could save her life and maybe gain her loyalty, though I would have to be sure that she would not try to go against me to even consider recruiting her.

As I walked through the town Alexandria by my side we discussed the progress we had made so far. "we have done quite well in only a few weeks, although was the arson necessary" Alexandria said a tone of suspicion I her voice. "perhaps it was not, but they attacked me, I wanted to get my own back and it just so happens to be the perfect cover for the destroyed vervain" I responded before continuing to walk. "I knew it, you just wanted some revenge. I must ask, though, what are your plans with this Catalina?" she asked me. "She has made it quite clear that she is a threat to Caroline and Elena, therefore, I will kill her", I stated, gaining a nod of agreement from Alexandria.

"Good, it's better not to let a threat fester, you taught me that", she said. I looked at her, feeling a bit of pride that someone in my family agreed that dealing with threats was a smart thing. "So when are you planning on siring them" she continued. "Caroline and Elena, not too long now, you know why I am hesitating to sire Elena. She will be turned, but for my revenge on Klaus to go perfectly, I need her to be human for now," I explained to her. "They both want to be turned, you have made quite the impression on them" she spoke again. "Yes, I know", I responded simply.

"Yes, and after your revenge is over, you need to deal with Mikael, then after that, you will be, without a doubt, the most powerful vampire alive. A king of not just heretics but vampires as a whole," she said, a slight glint of pride in her eyes. "You just want to be a princess," I said with a laugh, gaining one from her too. "Maybe", she responded.

"I can't wait until we have dealt with all that. I like Mystic Falls, but I miss Greece",, she spoke again. "Me too, we will return eventually, you just need to have some patience" I said, leaving out the fact that we would have to return to New Orleans before then. "What of Rebekah, Katherine and Aroura, when will you call for them to come here?" she asked. I could tell she missed them. To be fair, I did after so many years of being by someone's side, you got used to their presence. I smiled before speaking, "Two weeks and I will send word to them, just two weeks," I said, watching as her face lit up at my words.

I had hoped to have them come to Mystic Falls earlier, but Katherine having the same face as Elena could certainly be a problem. Though with the townservant destroyed, any humans could be compelled to ignore that small detail, and vampires, well, most in the town were loyal to me, so that would cause no problem.

"That's good, I will be glad to see them again. Are we planning on going to the Halloween party" she asked me. "Yes, Sheriff Forbes asked me to go to keep an eye on things, something tells me trouble may appear there",, I said, getting another nod from her. "It seems as though there is always trouble in this town. I know what we should do, as I agreed with her, this town is always full of trouble.

I nodded to him, motioning that she should continue "Vampires," she said, a massive grin on her face. I remembered in the show Vicki went as a vampire, which was slightly amusing with her being a vampire at the time. I wanted to argue with Alexandria, but I knew that when she had her mind set on something, no one could change her mind. She learnt that from Rebekah, though I was not complaining too much, being headstrong was not the worst trait she could have as a vampire, at least she wasn't running around butchering entire towns. "Fine, we will go as vampires, though nothing good can come from this", I said, gaining a small smirk from Alexandria.

"You're being too paranoid, nothing bad will come out of us dressing as vampires, and I am sure Elena, Caroline and Bonnie will find it hilarious", she spoke with a slight laugh. "Being paranoid has kept me alive for a thousand years", I responded, matching her smile. "Despite all the chaos, it is quite nice here, though the number of parties they have is a bit extreme", she said, speaking my previous thoughts out loud.

We continued going around talking about the last few weeks and our plans for the future. It was perhaps the first moment of quiet we had had in weeks and we both took the opportunity to enjoy it. Though we eventually started to head home as darkness started to fall over the town.

It was a week later, and the Halloween party had just started. The costumes that Alexandria had gotten us looked like what you would imagine for a vampire. A dark black cape with gothic clothes underneath and fake fangs, honestly, it looked better than I thought it would, completely wrong of course, but not bad. I could just imagine what any of my siblings would say if they saw me now, I doubt I would live it down.

I saw Elena and Caroline heading towards us, Elena being dressed in the same sexy nurse outfit that she wore in the show, which looked amazing on her. Caroline, on the other hand, came as a witch, dressed in a dark purple and black outfit, which showed an enticing amount of skin. As my eyes met, I saw a knowing smirk appear on both of their faces.

"Mr Mikaelson, you look great, here" Caroline spoke, shoving a drink into my hand. Looking down, I noticed a bluish liquid in it. Taking the chance, I drank. Although I did not know exactly what it was, it had vodka in it. "Thank you, Caroline, you look amazing too, so does Elena," I said, gaining a slight blush from the former and a wide smile from the latter. "A vampire that is unexpected," Elena said while looking at me and Alexandria, "you suit the look," she said while laughing. "Yes, yes it is very amusing", I said, which did not help matters, instead causing all three women to laugh harder.

The party went on smoothly for the next few hours until Elena saw Jeremy and Vicki heading out of the party. Elena started to follow them, obviously not very happy that her brother was with an unstable vampire. I followed, yet stayed at a distance, just in case it escalated. Once I left the building, I saw Vicki feeding on Jeremy, much to Elena's horror. Elena tried to interrupt them, successfully though I could tell Vicki was pissed.

They argued, then suddenly Vicki lunged for Elena, and in an instant, I was between them. Vicki hesitated for a moment before attempting to attack me, I stood there letting her unleash her fury on me. Claws tore through my costume before biting into my flesh, yet I did not show any sign of injury. As injuries appeared on my body I healed almost instantly, much to Vicki's chagrin. Growing bored, she seized her wrist, stopping her attacks, looking into her eyes, I started to speak, "Stop this now", I commanded, feeling my compulsion set into her mind.

She stopped fighting almost instantly, and my compulsion to take the route was. Alexandria had appeared at my side with Caroline in tow, which was good for me. Alexandria, please take Vicki here to our home, she has not had a decent teacher when it comes to vampire powers. Truthfully, I felt sorry for the young woman. Damon had turned her and failed in teaching her how to live with vampirism; hopefully, I could instil some sense into her.

"Caroline, you should take Elena and Jeremy home", I said, leaving no room for arguments. As they left, I went back into the party. It had already started winding down with only a few dozen people still attending, so I would not be here long.. Just as I was about to leave, Caroline came running towards me, fear filling her face. "Elena, she, they, vampires, they got her", she got out while crying. "Caroline, calm down, tell me what happened", I said, trying to make sense of what the young blonde was saying. "We were walking back to Elena's house when some vampires appeared. They grabbed her. They compelled Jeremy to forget what happened and tried the same with me, but the ring you gave me made me immune to compulsion, so I just pretended to be affected. Then I came straight to you," she got out. I pulled the still crying young woman into a hug "Don't worry, Carolin, I will find her, you have my word," I said while thinking about what to do next.
