Chapter 581 - Ch: 21-25

Chapter 21

We had been in Mystic Falls for just under a week now, and in that time, I had achieved a fair bit. I had settled into the town quite nicely and gone to the local library in search of all records that may shed light on the tomb of vampires located nearby. I knew, of course, that they were sealed in by a Bennett witch over a century ago to protect both them and the townsfolk. I also knew that all of them were presumed dead by the townsfolk back then, as they had been locked in a church that was burnt to the ground. Fortunately for the vampires, they managed to escape with the aid of an unknown member of one of the founding families.

From what I could tell, the events that transpired in the show also happened here, leading to the creation of an organisation in town to hunt vampires. This, of course, included all the founding families. From what I could tell, their members were Sheriff Forbes and her ex-husband, the Lockwood family, the last surviving Salvatore, and most surprisingly, the parents of Elena Gilbert. I had also found out that they met once a month to talk about anything strange that occurred. Not that any of the living members had even seen a vampire, but they still kept a vigilant watch over the town and with a large supply of vervain locked away they were definitely prepared for the worst case scenario.

I had been purposefully keeping my head down to avoid any chance of them discovering what I truly was, even going out of my way to avoid them. Although that was not entirely successful, as I had run into Zack Salvatore on one of my late-night walks through town. It turns out this town must be very boring when vampires are not tearing people apart, as myself, Rose and Alexandria had become the talk of the small town. I suppose it was only natural, really, the town was small and very close-knit, so a new family moving in, especially to such an old and expensive house, would begin rumours. Although I would have still preferred to remain as unknown as possible I could not do much to change that.

I was currently on one of said walks, strolling through the sleeping town several kilometres away in the woods, and I could hear the obvious sounds of a party. But I doubted any non-vampire would be able to, apart from that the entire town was quiet, which I was thankful for as it meant I would probably not run into anyone. I continued outwards towards the edge of town, unconsciously heading towards the party I could hear. After another five minutes of walking, I saw the unmissable light of a car's headlights in the distance heading over the small wooden bridge into town. I watched for a minute, until suddenly it veered off crashing through the side of the bridge and into the icy water below.

I was across the road in a split second, looking down into the fast-flowing river. The car had almost sunk to the bottom, and without a second thought, I dived in. Freezing was the first thought I had as I broke the surface; my entire body felt like it would turn to ice at any moment. Luckily, even though I felt the cold, it would have no ill effects on my vampiric physiology, so I just pushed myself deeper into the icy depths. I was quite lucky, I did not need to breathe as the car had already sunk deep into the river, forcing me to spend more time than I would have liked swimming down to it. As I reached the car, I thought about what I would do. I knew that I could just drag the entire vehicle out with ease, even though it was quite large and with the weight of the water, I should have no issue. But if the car found itself out of the water, it would raise too many questions, so instead I swam around to its door.

Looking inside, I could see a man and a woman sitting in the front, both unconscious, though as my eyes turned towards the rear of the car, I saw the familiar face of a doppelganger. Elena Gilbert lay just as unconscious as her parents across the back seat, looking almost peaceful. Acting quickly my hands reached the door, locked, shit thats was annoying, so I grabbed the sides sinking my fingers deep into the metal before pulling hard. It tore like paper in my hands, allowing me to dive into the car and grab the young doppelganger. Slashing the annoyance that was the seat belt I dragged her out before cannoning myself out of the water.

I shot out of the river, the unconscious doppelganger draped across my shoulder, and with one last push, we both landed onto the riverbank. I listened for a second, quickly realising that her heart was not beating. Without wasting more time I started trying to resuscitate the doppelganger, while quietly thanking my previous life's decision to go into the medical field. It took me close to a minute before a spluttering cough kicked water from her lungs, and a faint but steady heartbeat started. I looked back at the water, realising that two more needed to be saved, and with a kick off the ground I shot back into the water.

I had both of the Gilbert parents on shore with me, trying to resuscitate them to little success. I had called an ambulance, knowing that even if all three seemed fine, they would need it. It arrived in a hail of blue lights, tailed by a sheriff's car. Continuing chest compressions on the two until paramedics arrived next to me and got me to step back. Looking down, I could already tell that the two parents were a lost cause, they had been under water too long, their hearts inactive for over five minutes, there was no chance they would recover. But Elena was alive and hopefully she would make a full recovery.

I was brought out of my thoughts by a soft voice, "Can you tell me what happened, Mr" Looking around, I saw the face of Liz Forbes, the sheriff of the town. As I looked at him, my enhanced vision picked up something strange at the edge of the woods, a figure who, if I was not mistaken, seemed to be Stefan Salvatore. "Mr, can you tell me your name"? She asked with a sad smile on her face. "Ye,s of course, Asmund, Asmund Mikaelson". I answered as I looked over her shoulder to see that the man I though to be Stefan had vanished. "And can you tell me what happened?" Liz continued while jotting down my words. "Yes, I was out for my nightly walk. I had been going for a while when I saw headlights and all of a sudden, they veered off the road. I ran as quickly as I could to the edge of the bridge before diving into the river after it. It was then that I pulled the first passenger out before starting to try and resuscitate her as I noticed her heart had stopped. After her heart started, I dived back in, managing to pull both of the other occupants of the car out and doing the same. As I finished my statement, Liz thanked me and asked me to stay for a minute as I might still be needed, before heading off towards the ambulances.

When Liz Forbes returned, I was told she was going to the hospital and asked to come with her to be checked out. Even after assuring her I was fine, she insisted, seeing I had no choice in the matter I followed her to the car, before stepping inside. "So Mr Mikaelson, you're new in town, right?" she asked, "Yes, we just moved last week"? I answered her. "And you're going to be teaching at the high school, right"? She continued, nodding I let her continue. "My daughter, Caroline, goes there, so does the young woman you saved tonight, Elena. What is it you are teaching"? She asked truthfully, I expected an interrogation from the women, but this seemed far more friendly than I expected. "History, I am taking over from someone called Mr Tanner" I answer. "Yes, Tanner, I am sure all your students will be glad to be rid of him", she said with a slight laugh.

The rest of the drive was filled with gentle conversation, Liz Forbes was obliviously trying to get as much information as she could about he newest resident of the town, but I did not mind, I was, after all, too careful to reveal anything of much worth. I followed her into the hospital, the all too familiar hum of the old school lights filling my ears, as the smell of bleach assaulted my nose. It was quite nice to be back in a hospital after so many centuries, it felt weirdly like home. I followed Liz for about a minute before we reached a small room tucked at the end of a hallway. "Can you give me a minute?" nodding at her question, I walked over to the coffee machine on the far side of the hall. She was gone for a minute before leaving the room, walking over to her, I offered one of the coffees to her, which she gladly accepted. "I did not know how you drank it, so I just went for back goel, that's alright", I said quietly. "Yes, it is, thanks. Listen, I have got to wait for Elena's aunt to come here, she is staying in town, so it should not be too long. I would like you to stay, she should know who saved her niece. Nodding at her words I agreed before sitting down into one of the chairs littering the hall.

True to sheriff Forbes words it was not long before, the face of the familiar Jenna cam edahsing through the hall, hair a mess and eyes red from crying. She greeted Liz before they both went in to see Elena.

I sat waiting in the hall for about twenty minutes before the door swung open again and the familiar redhead crashed into me. "Thank you, thank you for saving her life" she managed to get out between the tears streaming down her face. I wrapped my hands around her shoulder while trying to comfort her, not with much success, she had just lost two relatives after all. When she stopped crying and let me go, I was told that Elena had woken up and was relatively unharmed, well, minus the couple of broken ribs and the cuts littering her body. It was then that I was all but dragged in by Jenna to meet the doppelganger, my eyes met with the familiar face of the young woman, a small smile on her face. "Thank you, Mr Mikaelson, I am Elena". I smiled already knowing this, fully aware of the doppelganger and the trouble that would be coming her way and as such mine.

Chapter 22

As I walked through the door to my home, I was met by Rose, a slight look of worry on her face. "Where have you been, Asmund, and what happened to your clothes. Of course my clothes are still soaked, hours after jumping into the river. "Saving a doppelganger's life," I answered before beginning to recall the events of the past few hours.

"So you had an eventful night then, you could have at least called, I was worried about you", she said with a shy look. I closed the distance and held her face in my hands "I am sorry, Rose, I had not thought about that, to be honest, but in the future, I will call if I am to be late", I responded. She looked happy at my words and leaned further into me, resting her body on my own.

Feeling the heat from her onto my body, I looked down at her face, that face that had stood by me for centuries, and I decided to do something I should have done hundreds of years ago. I pressed my lips to hers softly, she did not pull away instead leaning further into it and putting a hand behind my hair. I kissed deeply, realising that I was foolish to not have done this sooner, Rebekah had encouraged me to, but I had never found the time, now I had.

I pulled back slightly to look into her eyes, they were truly mesmerising, perfectly complementing her beauty. "Finally, Asmund, I have waited for this for five hundred years, to be yours", she spoke through panting breaths. Pressing my lips back to hers, I started leading her backwards towards the couch, before I could lower her down she turned us both and pushed me down.

"Let me take care of you, Lord Asmund", she said while emphasising my title. Slowly she lowered to her knees in front of me before starting to undo my belt. As she lowered my trousers, she looked up at me with a shy grin still plastered to her face before she started to pull down my underwear. She released my cock, and a gasp left her mouth as she saw the size of it.

"It's larger than I thought it would be, Rebekah told the truth, she said, muttering the last bit to herself. She sat up on her knees before pressing a kiss to my head, then starting to kiss down my length. As she reached the base, she looked back up before engulfing my head in her soft lips. I let out a groan of pleasure, which seemed to spur her on, as she coated my cock in saliva.

I brought my hand up to her head, softly running my hands through her hair, not applying any pressure as of yet. Making eye contact, I watched as she slowly started pushing her head lower on my shaft with each descent. Her speed started to increase slowly, as did the depth to which she took me into her throat.

After about ten minutes I felt myself getting close, warning her she ignored me before becoming more vigorous in her movements. With a grunt of pleasure I came into her mouth, watching as she slowly gulped down my load before cleaning off my cock.

Pulling her up I pressed another kiss to her lips, before picking her up in a bridal carry and speeding to my room. As we entered I dropped her gently onto the bed before climbing back on top of her. With another kiss to her lips, I started the slow descent down her neck before starting to undress her. As I removed her bra, I continued kissing down, reaching her breasts before latching onto her nipples, earning moans from the sexy brunette as her hands pulled me closer to her chest.

I swirled my tongue around each nipple slowly, teasing her for some time before deciding to continue my journey south. Licking down her stomach, leaving a trail of hickeys and saliva in my wake. As I reached the waistband of her jeans, I sat up, pulling them down her long legs, before pulling down her panties in a similar fashion. She was now exposed completely in front of me, looking at her face, I could see pure desire plastered onto it. Deciding to not tease her any longer I started to kiss her thighs, earning more moans as I closed in on her pussy.

Laying a kiss on her lips, I looked up briefly, meeting her eyes before silently guiding my tongue back to her lips. Dragging my tongue through her lips in one last teasing action before delving into her. As my mouth locked onto her pussy I felt her legs wrap around my head before and her back arch in pleasure. I dived my tongue into her, eating her out like a possessed man, reveling in each spasm of pleasure I drew from her body. I could tell she was close so I brought one hand up to finger her as I focused my tongues attention on her clit earning louder moans out of her. With one last series of spasms, her legs tightened even more around my neck, and juices flooded my mouth as she came.

Kneeling over the panting brunette I watched as she slowly recovered from her orgasm, before she pulled me on top of her. "Take me, Asmund", she managed to pant out before locking lips with me. As I kissed her I reached in between us, lining up my cock with her pussy and with a single thrust I psuehd into her. She moaned louder than she had previously wrapping her hands around my back, her nails digging into my back.

Looking into her eyes, our foreheads touched and I slowly started to thrust into her as moans filled the air. One of her legs wrapped around my back pulling me further in, as my hands reached beind her, one falling to her perfect arse as the other reached upto her head pulling her into another kiss. My hand on her arse groped and teased both of her holes with reckless abandon, earing more moans from her and causing her to wrap thmighter around me.

Feeling her hole start to clench around my shaft, I latched my mouth back onto her chest, my tongue languishing on her nipples. The increased attention worked as intended pushing her over the edge as she let out a small scream of pleasure and her nails bit deeper into my back. I did not stop for a second, continuing my thrusts while she came, increasing in both speed and depth. As I continued the familiar feeling of her orgasm around my cock hit again clenching my shaft even harder, this time I did not hold back filling her womb with my cum.

I locked lips with Rose again kissing her softly, while still buried inside of her. She still ground her hips into me drawing small amounts of pleasure from both of us. I flipped her around, lying on top of her back, and started thrusting again, spilling our joint juices out of her onto the bed. She bucked back into my hips with increasing speed. Looking over her shoulder, she locked eyes with me before speaking, "I am yours, Asmund, I am entirely yours, you should take every part of me".

Looking into her eyes I understood what she meant. Pulling out of her pussy I dragged her up into doggystyle before teasing her arsehole with my cock. She moaned as I teased, before starting to push back onto me. With a gentle push, I started entering her, she was so tight, almost painfully so, moans of pain and pleasure both left her lips. I hesitated for a minute before she turned back to me, "Do it, I can take it" With those words leaving her mouth, I pushed deeper. Slowly but steadily until I bottomed out inside her arse and after a moment to let her get used to the sensation I started thrusting.

I started slow, earning soft moans of pleasure from Rose, but soon enough, the brunette vampire was pushing herself back on me. Taking that as a sign she was ready I sped up my thrusts, while reaching up and wrapping my hand into her hair. Pulling her back by her hair and hips every time I thrust fully into her, from her reactions, she loved it. Letting out increasingly louder moans while gripping the bed sheets with enough force to tear them.

I reached one hand around to her clit toying with it as it thrust, pulling back her head I started laying kisses onto her neck. Sucking at her exposed flesh and teasing her with my fangs. With the hand that was wrapped in her hair, I moved it around to her front to fondle her nipples, increasing her pleasure all the more until I felt her start to quiver on my shaft. With my fangs teasing her neck and her on the edge I took the final step and bit down onto her exposed flesh, drinking her blood as she came, pushing her pleasure to new heights, as I also released my hot load into her arse.

She slumped down face first onto the bed, her holes dripping our combined juices and a small trail of blood running down her neck. Looking upon her, I felt a too-familiar feeling to protect and love her. Falling beside her I waited for a few seconds before she flipped herself and lay her head on my chest. "Asmund, that was amazing, I waited so long for you. I can not believe it finally happened" she panted out while looking into my eyes. "I love you", she continued, pulling herself tighter against me. I froze for a moment, I was not expecting her declaration of love so quickly, but I responded all the same, "I love you too, Rose", I answered, watching as her face lit up in happiness.

"Asmund, Aroura feels the same as I do towards you" Rose spoke after a moment of silence. "Is that so"? I asked, not needing the confirmation as I was aware both Rose and Aroura had been harbouring feelings toward me for a while. "You could have her too, imagine it, Rebekah, Katherine, me and Aroura all yours", she whispered into my ear. I brought my hand onto her head and told her to get some sleep while considering her words.

I would certainly be stupid to deny any feelings Aroura felt towards me, she had stood by my side longer than most. I decided in that moment that the next time I saw the slightly crazy red-headed vampire, I would make my move. But before then I needed sleep, so I lay down and let it take me.

Chapter 23

As the sword came at me, I slightly leaned to the side, bringing up my own to bat it aside before delivering several of my own attacks. Forcing my opponent back onto the defensive, just as I wanted, with her being a more aggressive fighter, she would be less comfortable on defence. Seeing an opening I brought my sword down onto her shoulder with a resounding crack. "Did you have to use so much force? They may only be wooden, but they still hurt", Alexandria said jokingly, a smile on her face. "If you have such an issue with a wooden sword, you will really dislike proper steel," I responded.

Truthfully, she was very skilled with a sword, having the potential to be only slightly less skilled than I or Mikael. Still, that put her as one of the best sword fighters I had ever met, but there was still a way to go, hence why I had been training her for an hour a day every day since we met.

"Are you ready for today"? I asked her, knowing that she was nervous about starting at Mystic Falls High, as she did not want to let me down. "Of course I am, are you? You have not even been a teacher before, have you?" she asked back. "I have, I taught the heretics magic, and I am currently teaching you swordsman Ship," I continued. With a nod, she started speaking again, "You can not really use me as an example in that I am, after all, the best student anyone could ask for". I answered her statement with a laugh, which seemed to spur her on.

Raising her training sword, I could tell she wanted to prove herself the best student. She was, of course, extremely talented with a blade, but a few things were holding her back; her pure focus on offence meant that if someone could push her onto the defensive, she was at a major disadvantage. I would try to get her past that little fault, but no, I needed to continue the current spar.

Finishing up our training I went to shower and change, while thinking about the day ahead. My first day teaching at Mystic Falls High, once I did this, there would be no going back. I would have put myself directly into all the chaos to come. So I finished up and went down to get in my car and start the journey to Mystic Falls High.

My car is a beautiful sixty-seven Chevy Impala. I may have gotten the idea of buying it from a TV show in my previous life, but it's definitely a good idea. Buying it straight out of the factory it had not failed me since, I had replaced so much on it due to its age. But I still would prefer a good horse, unfortunately, in this day and age, travelling on a war horse would be seen as odd, and I did wish to avoid attention. I was knocked out of my thoughts by Alexandria opening the door and sitting in the passenger seat, "Are we going then?" I answered with a nod and started to drive.

I pulled into the car park of the school. It was still about an hour before classes started, but I wanted to get to know the place before I began teaching here. Stepping out of the car, I started walking towards the main entrance with Alexandria by my side. I walked up to the reception desk and was greeted by a member of staff, who showed us round the school before leading me to my classroom and wishing me luck on my first day.

Alexandria left not long after leaving me alone to start planning my day, I had five classes each day and had to teach them a variety of subjects. Luckily, with my impressive memory, having lived through a thousand years of history and studied far more, I would have no trouble teaching it.

That is how my day went, covering many different periods and the main events in them, World War One, the rise and fall of Rome, ancient Sparta, ancient Greece and now with my last class, the history of Mystic Falls. Although the fact that a Viking settlement was once in Mystic Falls seemed unknown, I would have to start at the founding of the town.

Waiting for the class, I watched as a trickle of students made their way through the doors. Until familiar faces started ducking through them, Alexandria, Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett, Tyler Lockwood, Elena Gilbert, Matt Donovan and finally Stefan Salvatore. That last one in particular confirmed my suspicions, not only did the Salvatore brothers exist in this world, but Stefan was definitely at the bridge a week ago. That also meant that his brother would soon start causing trouble in town.

It was not only Stefan who would make an effort here, though every one of them would. Tyler would be the first of Klaus's hybrids and make an attempt on my future niece's life. Caroline would bring into the world two syphons of great power, and Bonnie would directly help with the resurrection of Silas. Elena would help kill Kol and help bring the cure into the world, and Matt would directly kill Finn. That was not all, of course, each of them would affect the world in far more ways than that. Well, they were supposed to do all that, I would prevent the deaths of my two brothers by any means necessary and would probably stand against them in other aspects.

"Good afternoon to all of you, I am Mr Mikaelson your new history teacher" I introduced myself for the fifth and final time today. I saw some confused looks cross their faces before one of the students raised a hand to ask, "What happened to Mr Tanner? Was he fired?". "He was not, he has taken on teaching sports full time, leaving me to fill in as the history teacher" I answered. As they heard my answer, most of the students seemed relieved, probably because Mr Tanner had a bad reputation among the students.

"Well then, for the next few weeks I will he teaching you about this very town's history, although I am sure some of you are already quite knowledgeable about it". For the next hour, I dive deep into the founding of Mystic Falls, explaining everything with as much clarity as possible. I found myself enjoying sharing my knowledge more than I assumed I would, perhaps teaching was for me after all.

As the bell rang, signalling the end of the day, I stood talking to some of the students as they filed out of the class. Once Msit had left, I noticed three in particular had stayed behind, Miss Gilbert, Miss Forbes and Miss Bennet..You are aware the class had ended," I asked jokingly. "We are, we just wanted to thank you for saving Elena last week" answered Bonnie. Noddin, I assured them it was nothing, before Caroline and Bonnie started to leave. "I will catch you both up in a bit, I just need to talk to Mr Mikaelso," Elena said to them both.

"Miss Gilbert, I must say I was surprised to see you in class this week. I thought you might have taken some time off",, I said to the doppelganger. "I did not want to fall behind on my studies", she answered with a solemn look on her face. "I am sorry for your loss, Miss Gilbert. I also thought the broken ribs may have made you unable to attend for a few weeks at least" I spoke again. She just nodded at that, before turning to leave "Thanks, Mr Mikaelson", she said as I watched her disappear through the door.

As I walked down the halls, I looked back on the day. It had been quite successful; I had met the main people who would cause me problems. I had even made decent progress with the other teachers, even Tanner, who had a bad reputation among students and staff, was perhaps not as bad as his reputation alluded to. He was an ass don't get me wrong, but he genuinely seemed to want his students to succeed.

Chapter 24

It had been a couple of weeks since I began teaching, and I had discovered I was extremely good at it; most of my students were on track to pass with flying colours. I had also started becoming more familiar with members of the town, the sheriff in particular had become a good friend ever since I saved Elena's life We both spent a fair amount of time chatting whenever we ran into one another.

All was not good, though, over the last week, bodies had started to be found, torn apart, with their blood drained. I had managed to get a look at one of the victims, and it was not what I expected. No doubt it was a vampire, but this vampire was savage, tearing its victims apart. I had my suspicions of who could be doing it, but I was not sure my thoughts were that Damon Salvatore was responsible, like in the show. But the level of mutilation the bodies suffered was not how I remembered him acting.

I had also started to take precautions around Caroline and Elena to avoid compulsion by a vampire. Slipping vervain into their food when the opportunity presented itself, in the hope it would be enough to protect them from the vampire. I had also warned both Rose and Alexandria about said vampire, if it was Damon, like I thought then they had nothing to worry about, as they both had centuries on him and were both trained to fight by me.

"Mr Mikaelson, are you listening" I heard Caroline's voice as she knocked on the wooden desk in front of me, effectively knocking me from my thoughts. "Sorry, Miss Forbes, I lost myself in my thoughts for a moment there. What can I do for you?" I responded, knowing full well what she wanted. Caroline was in one word dedicated, everything she did had to be perfect, I could admire it, I really did, but I also saw the dangers in it, wasting time away just to get a fraction of a per cent better was risky. That was probably why she was here, to ask me to read over a piece of work from one of her many classes. It was my fault, really, I had told my students that my door was always open. Caroline was the only one who had taken up the offer, coming and asking my opinion on whatever she was working on that day. In fact, it had become a daily ritual, every day on the first break, she would come and ask my opinion on a new piece of work. I truly did not mind, as it gave me something to do but it did surprise me that no other teacher would do the same.

"Well, Mr Mikaelson, I have an essay I had to write for physics, I was hoping that you would not mind looking it over," she said, a shy smile on her face. Smiling at her I held out my hand to take the papers. As she handled it, I saw her bring up a chair sitting opposite me, watching with great interest as I read her work.

"You have outdone yourself again, Miss Forbes", I told her without one word of a lie. She always did, in fact, her intelligence seemed to rival some of the smarter people that I had met in my thousand years of life. "Thank you, are you sure though?" she asked, with slight nervousness in her voice. "I would not lie to you, as always you seem to get your work as perfect as possible". I responded, watching as her eyes lit up from the compliment. She stood as I handed her the paper back, "Thank you, Mr Mikaelson, you have been a big help. I hope you enjoy your weekend, " she said, a smile back on her face. "No problem, Miss Forbes, you enjoy your weekend too," I responded.

She started leaving before stopping at the door and turning around before starting to speak, "Mr Mikaelson, there's a party this weekend in the woods, are you going?". "Miss Forbes, you realise that telling me about a party where there will be no doubt people drinking while underage is probably not the best idea. Not too mention that it is inappropriate to be asking one of your teachers to attend said party" I spoke. Causing her too pause for a second, then start speaking again "I thought you would already know, Alexandria is coming and I thought she might have told you, plus your cool right so you won't shut it down" she answered a slightly desperate look filling her face. "She did not tell me, and no I won't shut it down, I suppose I could go with the animal attacks at the moment it maybe safer to have someone that is not drinking attending" I said relief filling her face as she realised that I would not shut down the party.

After that was settled, she said her goodbyes and then turned and left. The party, the one that I saw Damon attend and attack Vicki Donavon. This could be the opportunity I needed to confirm whether or not it was Damon who was responsible for the far more vicious attacks that had been happening. I would attend mainly for that reason, but it would also be a good opportunity to keep an eye on Stefan as well. I had no idea if the Stefan here was like his show counterpart and only fed on animal blood or if he was as bad as his brother.

I started leaving the school heading towards my car, seeing Alexandria talking to Elena over at one side of the. School,, with a wave, she acknowledged that she had seen me, so I sat in the car and began waiting for her to finish the conversation she was having. It was at that moment I saw her wave me over, walking over to the pair, I greeted them both. "Would you mind dropping Elena off, her bus got cancelled?" asked Alexandria, with a smile. I agreed before noticing that she was looking over her shoulder, focusing on something in the distance. I looked at the way she was staring and noticed somebody standing across the road, staring right at her. As soon as I managed to see him he disappeared, a vampire, had to be with that speed. "We should get going" I said, both of them quickly agreeing we set off.

After dropping Elena off I was left alone with Alexandria. "There was a vampire at the school, not Stefan, another one", I said. She looked at me before answering, "I saw him briefly too, should we find him?". Shaking my head, I started to speak again, "No, I imagine we will see him again at the party later, though do not engage with him unless absolutely necessary". "You're going then", she responded, picking up on my words. "Yes, Caroline, let it slip earlier, and I have a feeling that trouble may arise there" She nodded, thinking on my words, before agreeing that my presence was probably for the best.

That was how I found myself in the woods surrounded by dozens of my students. Most had seemed slightly wary of my presence here, but they soon realised I was not here to stop their fun and had accepted my being here. At the moment, I was standing leaning against a tree, observing the clearing where the party was taking place. Inside the clearing stood groups of students huddled into groups, a few kegs were dotted around on pop-up tables, and chairs littered the clearing.

"Mr Mikaelson, you came" I looked over to see an obviously tipsy Caroline walking in my direction, followed by Elena, Bonnie and Alexandria. "Yes, well, someone needed to make sure things did not get out of hand", I said, looking over the small group. "That's a good idea, I thought you were here just to shut us down when I first saw you here" Bonnie spoke up. "Everyone seems to have thought that, I suppose I can not blame them, though I am smart enough to know if I shut this one down, another would just take its place elsewhere," I responded after a moment of thought.

Alexandria came closer too, watching as the tipsy Caroline half leaned on me and half leaned on the tree next to me. "I think the blonde likes you" she spoke in my native tongue. I taught her that about a century ago; it had proven quite useful in making sure our conversation went unknown to others, and the other members of Mystic Falls High had gotten used to the oddity by now. "Perhaps, though I have no interest in that particular avenue" I responded in the same tongue. Nodding she switched back to English before talking to the others around me.

"Are you not drinking Mr Mikaelson"? Caroline slurred out almost falling over as she leaned forward to talk to me. I put my hand out to steady her while responding, "No, I am driving, plus I can not really keep an eye on you all if I am drunk", I responded to her. It was true although my enhanced physiology made it almost impossible for alcohol to affect me, taking both a high quality and high quantity to even get me slightly tipsy.

I was knocked out of my thoughts by a shrill scream filling the air and a voice shouting for help. I was moving in the direction it came from before the call for help had even finished, moving just slow enough not to appear inhuman. I was tossed the clearing by the time the students around me had started reacting. I could see what was happening from here: a young man, Jeremy Gilbert, from the looks of it, was dragging an injured woman into the clearing. The scent of blood filled my nostrils, and I could make out the two fang marks in her neck. How did I miss it? The vampire had shown up, and I was distracted by talking.

I reached them before telling Jeremy to put her down, looking at her, I could tell it was definitely Vicki Donovan, reaching down to her neck, I applied pressure while instructing Jeremy to ring an ambulance. While he did that, Vicki tried to speak her words no more than a whisper, "vampire", she gasped out. Fortunately, she was so quiet that only I, Jeremy and her brother Matt, who had appeared at our side, heard her. Putting pressure on the wound, I looked through the forest, seeing the same figure I saw outside the school standing, observing. I could give chase but that would mean leaving Vicki to most likely bleed out from the deep wound in her neck, as I could hear her heartbeat already fading.

It was a couple of minutes later that an ambulance arrived once again, followed by Sheriff Forbes. As I let them tend to the young girl, I stood, locking eyes with the sheriff before she started speaking. "Asmund, we meet again, and somehow you're saving a life again", she said, a tone of suspicion in her voice. "Yes, I would prefer that we stop meeting under these circumstances," I responded. With that simple greeting, her interrogation of me began. I answered with as much detail as I thought possible, hoping that it might lessen her suspicion. "Why were you here in the first place? Surely you should have shut this party down as soon as you heard of it", she asked finally. "We both know that if I had done that, they would have just moved it elsewhere, and this way, at least I could keep an eye on things, make sure it did not get out of hand". She seemed to think on my words for a moment before nodding and saying her goodbyes, turning around to head to her squad car.

At that point, everyone had already cleared out, heading home as quickly as they could, hoping to avoid the sheriff as they did. Yet even before I reached my car I could see the four gathered figures around it. "Mr Mikaelson, is Vicki going to be alright?" came the familiar voice of Bonnie. "She will, but we should still get out of here. The sheriff says that whatever animal attacked her could still be around. It seemed as though I was driving them home, the four of them, Caroline, Elena, Bonnie and Alexandri, squeezing into the car." Mr Mikaels, could you draw us off at the Mystic Grill? We should try to get Caroline to sober up a bit before she heads home," Elena said. I could not argue with her logic. Caroline had definitely had too much to drink, and I imagine her mother would flip out seeing her in this state. "Sure, I am starved anyway, and I am yet to try the food from the Mystic Grill" As I said that, they tried to assure me that they could handle it, but when it became obvious that I would be going with them, I could see a bit of relief on their faces.

The Mystic Grill was a small restaurant in town, one of the only ones in fact, as we walked through the doors I saw many familiar faces, those of the students that attended the party. Obviously, they had a similar idea of sobering up before they went home. We sat and ordered burgers for us all, following the recommendation of Elena and Bonnie, and I sat to enjoy my food, listening to the conversation at our table with casual interest. After eating and after many coffees Caroline sobered up enough for me to drop her off so we left. Dropping off each of them until only me and Alexandria were left."The vampire was there, though I did not get a good look at him" I said to her before allowing silence to fall over us.

Chapter 25

I had not re-encountered the vampire since the party, though his attacks continued, each as brutal as the last. The local authorities blamed the attacks on animals, a terrible cover story as none of the bodies had been eaten, just ripped to shreds. A curfew had even been put in place to try and lessen the attacks, unfortunately, it was all for nought. It was obvious the toll it was taking on the small town, a tension ran through the air at all times everybody worried that they may be next. If people did venture out of their homes, they travelled in groups in the hope that an animal would avoid large numbers of people.

It was honestly odd even for me, vampire rampages were few and far between in Europe as I had laid down strict laws to prevent humans from discovering our existence. Unlike Europe, such laws did not exist in America, and no old vampires had taken it upon themselves to keep the younger vampires in check. Perhaps if I stayed here long enough, I would do a similar thing here, keeping vampires from going too far and keeping a level of civility among our species. The carnage in the wake of the vampire attacks had also caused the founding families to take precautions, mainly putting vervain into the town's water supply. Alexandria had found that out for us the hard way during a shower, luckily I could separate the vervain from water with a bit of magic.

The vervain I assumed came from Zack Salvatore, having been the town's main source of vervain in the show, I assumed it was probably the same here, but I had not confirmed it. There was also an increase in patrols throughout town by the sheriff and her subordinates, each carrying what looked to be stakes. I knew that the chance of any of them having fought a vampire before was slim, but I knew fear could lead to people making stupid decisions. Even some townspeople had started to suspect the stories about animal attacks to be false, with a rumour spreading about a savage serial killer being loose in the town.

Even with all that carnage, the school stayed on, leading me to continue to teach my students history. During the past week had also discovered that Bonnie may be starting to uncover her powers, after I passed her a pen and our hands briefly touched, causing her to recoil slightly. I did remember that in the show, a similar thing happened when she and Stefan touched hands, leading her to see glimpses of the vampire's past. I did wonder what she saw in me, though I was far older than Stefan and lived a far more bloody and brutal life. Whatever she saw was shocking to her as our interactions had been mainly one-sided, with her being wary around me.

Though I also knew she felt my magic when our hands touched, I hoped that she might come to me in the future to learn more about the gift we shared. That would probably be a fair bit away, though, as my enhanced hearing could pick up an increase in her heartbeat when around me, possibly due to fear or just general worry.

Vicki Donavon had also survived the attack from the vampire and was still in the local hospital, though she suspiciously had no recollection of it. Without a doubt being compelled since the attack, though both Matt and Jeremy had heard her confess that a vampire was responsible just after the attack. Both seemed to think she was just rambling in the aftermath but I could tell that both had a slight inkling that something was not right.

I also knew that if it was Damon he had not made a move on Caroline as he did in the show, perhaps due to the vervain that she was consuming. Caroline had also continued coming to speak to me on every break, under the guise of having a second opinion on her work. Although I suspected it was actually like Alexandria had said and the young blonde may have an interest in me. Something that I would prefer to avoid, but could not just outright push her away, as that would isolate her, making her a prime target for Damon if it were him slaughtering his way through Mystic Falls.

I was currently on my way out of the school. It had been a long day for me, and I was glad to get home and rest. Unfortunately, that was interrupted by Alexandria coming up to me, "Matt's sister Vicki is missing, and Elena asked us to help look for her", she said. Well, there goes my evening of relaxing. "We should head to town, keep a stake on you, the vampire may be back" At my word, she nodded before going towards town.

I walked through the streets of Mystic Falls, I remembered in the show Vicki was found on a rooftop but I had no idea which one. Leading me to use my enhanced senses to try and detect her, easier said than done as the town was far more busy than usual.

After several hours of searching, I ran into Matt and Tyler, both having had about as much luck as I had in the search. It was only a moment or two later that we were joined by Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie, Elena and Jo, who were also searching. While discussing what to do, I heard a heartbeat from the roof above us. Looking up, I saw Vicki on the ledge. The others, having noticed my distraction, looked up and saw her.

We all made our way up to the roof as quickly as possible, getting to a locked door that gave way under my strength. Luckily, none of them seemed to notice that display of power. What we all noticed, though, was the young brunette on the edge of the roof. Matt immediately tried to talk her down, without much success. Jeremy and Tyler both joining him in the attempt, but I knew that they had no chance, she was most certainly compelled.

I saw her begin to take another step, and in an instant, I was behind her, clutching her arm in my hand. She fought, trying with all her might to leap off the building, but she could not, no matter how much she struggled; my strength was too much for her to move an inch. I pulled her further onto the roof, as she kicked and screamed. I looked into her eyes, "stop fighting" As I said those simple words, I felt a resistance as my compulsion briefly fought the other vampire's orders. She gave up almost straight away, as soon as she stopped Matt pulled her into himself as tears started to flow from her eyes.

We left after that and I was only with Caroline and Elena at the moment, walking through the darkened streets. Night seemed to fall quickly, a voice called from behind us, "Elena, I see you found your friend", as I heard the cocky voice recognition fill me. I turned seeing the all too familiar face of Damon Salvatore, who I now recognised as the vampire from both the school and the party. "Damon, Stefan is not here, and I told you to stay away from me", Elena said, backing up slightly. He stepped forward, eyes locking with Elenas's. "You don't want that", she argued, his compulsion finding itself blocked by the vervain inside her. At that, he turned his compulsion on Caroline again, finding it effective, then on me, finding the same bit for a different reason.

"Well seems you have protection against my charms, lucky you. But I grow bored of these games," he said, lunging towards Elena, his claws outstretched. Shit, I thought, I kind of hoped to keep up my ruse for a bit longer, in a single moment, my hand met his, pushing him back. He snarled at my interference and came straight at me. With a single motion, I pulled him in, snapping his wrists before reaching into the hidden sheath at my belt and pulling out my sword. Perfectly hidden with illusion magic, having not left my side since it was reforged. A single cut would end the vampire before me, igniting his body in white hot flames and leaving behind a pile of ash. Aiming at his heart, I prepared to thrust the blade into him, but was interrupted.

"Wa, it doesn't," Elena shouted at me, looking back . I could see Caroline frozen in place and Elena looking shocked at my sudden display of power. "He's Stefan's brother, don't kill him", she continued. "Why not? he is the one responsible for all the deaths around here, he almost killed Vicki, he would have killed you", I responded. "Please don't", she said, looking back, I could see the desperation on her face. I put the sword back in its sheath, then pulled him to my eye level, "Forget the truth about me", I ordered him before snapping his neck.

"You're a vampire as well", Elena spoke with slight hesitation in her voice. "No, they don't exist, they can't exist", Caroline interrupted. "Unfortunately, she's right, Caroline, I am a vampire, one far older and stronger than this pathetic leech", I said to them. I could see their faces painted with worry and fear at my confession. "Why, why are you here? Are you going to kill us now"? Caroline asked slowly backing away from me. "No, of course not, I mean you no harm, for why I am here, this was once my home, I wanted to return", I said, answering both questions at once. They both seemed slightly relaxed by my answer but still stayed a few metres away. "How long have you known that we exist"? I asked Elena with a slight amusement in my voice. "About a week, Stefan told me" she replied. "He would have, wouldn't he?" I said with slight annoyance.

We were interrupted by a voice calling to me, "Father, did you find her"? Alexandria asked. Before I could answer she seemed to pick up on the tension in the air. "They know, don't they?" I nodded as Caroline and Elena stared at us both in realisation that one of their friends was a vampire drawing on their faces. "Why did you not tell me" Caroline asked us both, I had no reply luckily Alexandria did "it's frowned upon to tell a human that you do not intend to turn about our species. In Europe it is strictly forbidden" that was true, one of the many rules I had implemented to protect our species.

They both nodded before Caroline spoke again, "We won't tell anyone, just give us a few days to think about everything, please", she said, desperation and fear filling her voice. "Of course we will, you don't need to fear us, we would not hurt you" I said before we left, disappearing into the night.

Damon would not have any recollection of the events, but Elena and Caroline would. I just hoped that neither of them would reveal my nature to anyone else, especially Stefan.
