Chapter 3: Killing A Baby Wolf Is Enough

In no time, Shi Feng reached the central plaza ahead of every other player.

A few town guards stood watch around the Mayor, blocking casual approach.

And there he was—the Town Mayor himself—standing proudly before his manor.

[Cross] (Elite, Friendly) Level 15

HP: 2400/2400

MP: 1500/1500

Having invested all his free attribute points into Agility, Shi Feng had arrived first to receive the quest.

He glanced at the rotund, smiling man and chuckled inwardly.

In this life, this Mayor was suppose to be nothing more than a quest target. A part of Sherlock's secret mission to assassinate him for a quest reward.

But now, things were different.

The arrival of the Hundredfold Reward Talent changed everything.

From his memory, Shi Feng chased Sherlock's request quest because it was a Unique Quest, offering better rewards.

But with this talent, even the most Normal Quest could rival or exceed unique ones.

And the Mayor before him?

He was a never-ending golden goose, giving out quest after quest.

Why kill the goose when it kept laying golden eggs?

"Greetings, Mayor. I heard from passersby that Red Leaf Town is thriving lately. But surely there are troubles as well? If there's anything I can help with, just let me know," Shi Feng said politely.

Mayor Cross gave him a thoughtful look.

'This youth doesn't seem like a rookie at all. His equipment looks far beyond the normal Novice ones, more like a seasoned adventurer.'

He declared that the young man before him possessed rare potential indeed.

Smiling, Cross replied warmly, "Brave Adventurer, you thought well. There have been troublesome wild wolves gathering outside the town recently. They've been attacking merchant caravans heading here. Could you help us clear them out?"

[Ding! Do you wish to accept the quest?]

The system prompt rang in Shi Feng's ears.

Without hesitation, he responded, "Of course. Protecting the town is the duty of every adventurer."

[Ding! Quest Accepted!]

A new window popped up in front of him.

[Normal Quest: Clear Wild Wolves.]

Requirements: Kill 10 wolves and retrieve their fangs.

Rewards: 100 EXP, 10 Copper Coins, increased Favor with Town Mayor Cross.

Seeing the quest, Shi Feng couldn't help but laugh inside.

He had expected on getting a difficult quest due to the equipment he was wearing but getting a quest with unique quest difficulties and normal quest rewards?

Shi Feng had clearly underestimated the Mayor.

Killing 10 wolves who were Level 5, was that even possible for a Level 0 player?

The obvious answer was no.

At this point in the game, even facing a single baby wolf without a proper team was suicide. And yet, the quest Shi Feng received required him to kill ten full-grown wolves.

And even if he did succeed, the quest rewards weren't very appealing. Killing a single wolf granted 50 EXP. So, just ten kills would already earn him more than what the quest offered.

This quest was doomed from the start.

Why did Mayor give such an absurd quest? One that was never meant to be completed?

Shi Feng knew the reason.

The mayor hadn't given him this quest with success in mind in the first place.

But Shi Feng didn't say anything. He had already thought of what he should do next.

He looked up to Mayor and just nodded.

"I wish you luck on your quest, Brave Adventurer."

Mayor Cross smiled in return, unaware of the plans running through Shi Feng's mind.

Not long after, a swarm of new players descended into the plaza. Green rhombus symbols floated above their heads, filling the area and making the NPCs harder to spot.

Di! Di! Di!

As he was walking away from the plaza, Shi Feng's voice communicator rang.

[Black Cloud]—Blackie was calling.

"Brother Feng! I picked Cursemancer! But I got sent to Falling Moon Town. Where are you?" Blackie's excited voice came through.

"I'm in Red Leaf Town. It's not far from Falling Moon. Come here, I'll help you level fast," Shi Feng said calmly.

However when Blackie heard this, he was anything but calm. "Are you serious? Falling Moon Town is at least seven hours from Red Leaf! If I come now, I'll fall way behind. It's better if we both level separately and meet at White River City at Level 10. Don't forget, we still need Credits to buy our own God's Domain helmets. We can't afford to waste time."

Shi Feng chuckled at his friend's worry.

"Relax. Trust me," he said softly. "You'll catch up faster than you think."

Blackie suddenly paused. His voice lowered with suspicion. "Wait... Brother Feng, you've got Beta Tester info, don't you?"

Otherwise, how could Shi Feng sound so calm while everyone else was scrambling?

Shi Feng laughed lightly. "Maybe. Come here and see for yourself."

Blackie grinned, he knew Shi Feng had reliable information. "Tch, fine! I'm on my way right now!"

Ending Blackie's call, Shi Feng stepped out of the town and glanced at the path leading into the forest.

As expected, a few wild Baby Wolves wandered nearby while some players were busy farming Level 0 Slimes. However, only a handful dared to touch the Level 1 Baby Wolves.

In God's Domain, killing a Level 0 monster gave only 3 EXP. An average player would need to grind for nearly ten hours to level up once by killing these weak Slimes.

The Baby Wolves gave more experience but were still difficult for new players compared to the easy Slimes.

Walking past them, Shi Feng moved silently through the dense underbrush of Red Leaf Forest. He kept his hand on the hilt of his sword, eyes sharply looking at anything abnormal.

There were no other players around. No one else dared to come here.

This was a Level 5 monster area. At Level 2, most wouldn't even dream of stepping foot this deep. But Shi Feng didn't hesitate.

It was then.

A low growl came from one of the bushes 10 steps away.

Shi Feng stopped and took out his sword.

From behind a thicket, a lone Wolf stepped out. Its body was lean but packed with muscle, sharp fangs glinting in the dim light.

Forest Wolf [level: 5 (common)]

HP: 400

The moment it saw Shi Feng, it immediately pounced on with its front claws.

Shi Feng reacted instantly, sidestepping the lunge with a pivot of his heel. As the wolf landed and turned, he raised his sword and activated his skill—[Chop].

With a sharp arc, his blade slashed down at the beast's side. A flash of light marked the skill's activation, and a burst of pain split through the wolf's hide.

-30, -32, -28

Because the defense point of the wolf was higher than Shi Feng, the damage output was lower than when facing baby wolf.

But it won't be like that for long.

[Chop Skill Used. 4 SP Gained. 100x Reward Triggered — Gained 400 SP.]

[Congratulations! Your Chop skill has leveled up.]

When facing a stronger monster, not only did the EXP gains increase, but the Skill Proficiency points did as well. Thankfully, [Chop] had reached Level 1, gaining an additional 4 damage and reducing its cooldown to 4 seconds.

Hearing the system message, though his focus remained on the wolf, he felt content in his heart.

"Seems like you are out here alone," he muttered with satisfaction. "Why? Did the pack leave you behind?"

The wolf snarled at Shi Feng mockery and retaliated, claws swiping at his chest.

He barely avoided the strike, the edge of a claw grazing his clothes. Even one mistake would cost him big.

Shi Feng didn't give it another chance.

With another precise [Chop], he struck at the wolf's exposed flank. A loud thunk echoed as the blade sank deep.

-35, -60, -34

With three damage values flashing above its head, the Forest Wolf stumbled and tried to back away.

Shi Feng noticed immediately and didn't give it a chance. After distributing all his attribute to agility, escaping from him now wouldn't be easy.

He lunged forward, bringing his sword down with full force, activating his skill once again.

The blade struck with a critical hit, slamming the weakened wolf that still had a third of its HP left. Using swift footwork, Shi Feng pressed the assault, leaving no opening. His final strike cleanly drained the last of its health.

The Forest Wolf collapsed with a pained growl and lay still.

A system chime followed.

[System Notification: Congratulation! You have defeated Forest Wolf. Level of Difference 5. Increase the EXP obtained by 500%. You have received 300 EXP, triggering hundredfold talent, you have received 30,000 EXP.]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[Chop Skill's Proficiency gained +16, triggering hundredfold talent, you have received 1600SP.]

[Active Skill: Chop leveled up!]

[Active Skill: Chop leveled up!]

Shi Feng exhaled slowly as golden light surrounded him. His stats rose, energy surged through his limbs, and his grip on the sword tightened with renewed strength.

He looked at his status and a grin appeared in his face,

Player: Shi Feng

Level: 7 (25% EXP)

He had jumped from Level 0 to Level 7 in a single breath.

Others would need to grind nonstop for one full day just to reach Level 7, painstakingly killing hundreds of monsters while risking death at every step.

But Shi Feng?

He had accomplished it all with just one kill.

Chop (Active Skill) [Level 2: 1100/1200]

Additional Damage: 8 ➔ 28

Cooldown: 5s ➔ 4s

His Chop Skill also had leveled up twice increasing the damage dealt by additional 20.

As he closed his system interface, something caught his eye near the wolf's fading body.

When Shi Feng bent down and grab the only fang dropped by the forest wolf, a more exciting notification appeared.

[Ding! You have obtained 1 fang, triggering hundredfold reward, you have obtained 100 fang.]

[System notification: The requirement for the quest has been completed. Please return to the town and claim your rewards.]

"Nice, just as I thought," Shi Feng muttered, staring at the system messages. "The quest is over just like that. Now I just need to go to the town to get my rewards."

This Hundredfold Reward was insane.

It didn't just multiply his EXP and skill point gains, it multiplied everything, including resources.

And that was the real game-changer.

In God's Domain, resources were the lifeblood of a guild. Whether it was rare herbs, ores, beast materials, or magic crystals, everything took time and manpower to gather.

Even the super guilds with thousands of members struggled to keep their supply lines steady. Because of this, managing a guild's development was a constant war of attrition.

But now?

Shi Feng was gathering a hundred times more than normal with every pick-up. What others collected in days, he could gather in minutes.

Starting a guild? Running it? Expanding it?

It became way too easy for Shi Feng now.

"What is going to happen if I keep going like this?" A chill ran down Shi Feng's spine as he imagined the future waiting for him with this overpowered talent.

He couldn't help but realize how absurdly easy everything had become.

Suddenly, he burst into laughter like a madman, unable to suppress his excitement.

"Haha! With this talent... I'm practically invincible!" His grin widened. "If that's the case..."

"Let's 100x speedrun God's Domain!"
