Chapter 295 - The Patriarchs

When the meeting finally ended and everyone began filing out of the war room, Alaric waited until the last of the commanders had left, then turned to his father.

"Come with me to my study."

Ezekiel shook his head, then laughed. "You know, it's only you who thinks he can give his own father orders."

"Are you coming?" Alaric asked, already walking away.

Ezekiel followed anyway.

When they got to the study, Alaric turned to his father, "What do you know?"

Ezekiel frowned. "About what?"

"About the Architect."

Ezekiel scoffed. "I know what everyone else knows. That he's dangerous and clever, a problem we should have dealt with already."

"That's not all," Alaric said.

Ezekiel studied him closely. "You're imagining things."

"No, you hesitated back there. You always do when you're holding something back."

Ezekiel crossed his arms. "Careful, son."
