I often gaze at the mountain in awe. How did such a giant mound of rock come to be? I asked the elders and Grand Mother but all they told me were answers that I didn't understand so I decided to take a look myself.
Many children often climb the mountain, but they never go further than halfway. As I walk up the path wrapping it, I look over the cliffs and think of the many different and interesting places I want to go in the future. How many have a Volcano like our home? One day I will be able to find out.
The path up the mountain as you go further up becomes narrow and soon, I will need to hang onto the walls to get any further. I was always the best climber among my peers.
As I climb higher I can't help but notice how quiet it is up here, maybe I'll make this place my secret hide away. It's warm enough and has a nice view though I'll need to ask for help and then it won't be a hide away anymore.
Several minutes go by as an eagle flies above looking at Fire climbing the volcano. Every so often she stumbles but she always keeps her balance and never falls. The eagle looks away before it dodges on instinct. The eagle quickly flies away.
Fire had reached close to the top before a heat wave causes her to close her eyes and look away. It was so hot that she couldn't breath correctly for a moment. After a short coughing fit she had cleared up the discomfort and looked over the lip of the mountain cliff atop the Volcano. There lies what looks solid and blackened rock.
It had been years aince the last eruption but through the natural processes and random animals getting too close and falling in among rocks and such it began to activate. Gas had started to escape through the hollow volcano sulferic gas escaping as well.
Air pockets that used to be caves for some had become a death trap.
What Fire had thought was a short excursion was now dangerous but she didn't care and decided to look into what was down below until another heat wave melted her eyebrows off entirely and somewhat burned her skin.
