Zeus's arrangements moved Lady Night deeply.
Those beautiful night-dark eyes that should have held endless depth and cold were at this moment filled to the brim with thick, almost overflowing love.
She simply stared, dazed and unblinking, at Zeus upon the throne.
If this weren't a sacred occasion with all the gods of the universe present, she would have thrown herself into his arms without a second thought.
As a primordial Great Mother, her love for her children was beyond all doubt.
In Zeus's sacred and beneficent new order of the cosmos, what she worried about most were her six children born of shadow.
She knew full well that, given Zeus's temperament and the uplifting orientation of the order he had established, this universe was not much of a place for those children to find a foothold; she knew how unwelcome they were.
As their mother, Nyx had long felt deep guilt and worry toward these children conceived from her past negative emotions, children whose divinity was doomed from birth to be negative.
Yet in this she was truly helpless.
They say the children of Night are the children of Zeus, but those conceived by herself alone and those conceived with Zeus together—could their meaning and standing possibly be the same?
This had troubled her terribly, but now, all problems were gone.
Her beloved God-King had arranged everything perfectly.
He had even extended and corrected the authorities of the very children she herself felt helpless about and worried for, turning their negative natures toward relatively positive, brand-new meanings that could shine within the new order.
The goddess Nyx was truly moved beyond words.
She told herself again and again that the wisest decision of her eternal life was giving herself to Zeus!
Woo woo woo—Zeus, my love—
Zeus needed no more than a glance to know what lay in Nyx's heart.
After conferring honors upon those children, he met, as if by chance, the love-filled gaze of the goddess Nyx in the air.
Though it lasted only an instant, his eyes were full of indulgence and affection that needed no words—feelings reserved for her alone.
That one look was enough to drown Nyx's entire divinity in boundless happiness.
Her children, too, were overjoyed. They wanted to join the sacred new order! They wanted to enjoy this infinitely beautiful world!
Who could stand living in the Underworld forever?
At first, they did not dare step beyond the door.
Even after Zeus became God-King and their mother was accepted by the new order, few gods were willing to pay them any heed.
The authorities and laws they possessed by birth doomed them to be unwelcome.
But laws and authorities are innate—what can be done?
Now, all was well!
Under the personal governance of their great Father—the God-King Zeus—their authorities had become indispensable links in the universe's spiral progress!
They could finally live openly in this brand-new world!
They knelt again in delight before Zeus, shouting thanks to their Father for his supreme grace.
Zeus smiled and waved them back, and they cheerfully returned to stand behind their mother.
Just then, sudden change!
All the gods in the hall saw the God-King's gentle expression turn, in an instant, to utmost coldness and ruthlessness. The smile at his lips vanished in a heartbeat.
Endless thick black clouds, without the slightest warning, in a blink completely covered Mount Olympus!
And they surged, like an irresistible tidal wave, swiftly to shroud the entire world!
Within this grand temple, the peaceful, joyous atmosphere born of Zeus's repeated gifts froze and chilled in the same instant under the stern, grim divine majesty rising around the God-King!
The myriad gods within fell utterly silent, whatever their temperaments.
The hall's very air had become an ice pit so terrible it could freeze divinity!
In their hearts, they were deeply stricken.
They had no idea what had happened!
Everything had been fine a moment ago—how had it turned to this in a flash?
Zeus's gaze had pierced all barriers, traversed endless time and space, and landed precisely upon the distant depths of the Ocean.
Some time earlier, in the far ocean.
After a long search, Menoetius finally found Amalthea's place of gestation.
The Oceanus couple, who had taken utmost care so as to nurture this goddess dearest to the God-King, had not chosen to gestate her within a divine body.
That method's effect was far too poor, and the strength and potential of the body so formed would be far inferior to one gestated by her original self.
They carefully placed Amalthea's source divinity in the Ocean's very source—the deepest, purest core.
With the Ocean's pure-water primordial power, and in concert with the strength of the Mother of All Rivers, the world-moistening goddess, the great primordial goddess of fresh water Tethys, they performed the deepest nurturing.
These two primordial Titans truly gave their all; for Amalthea they evolved three brand-new powerful laws: "Nourishment," "Healing," and "Purification."
These three are extremely vast and potent branches within the law of water.
Even one of them would be the supreme authority most deities could only dream of.
Yet the Oceanus couple—somehow—they evolved three for her!
Moreover, it wasn't just the number and importance of the laws; these three also suited Amalthea's pure, gentle nature extremely well.
The Oceanus couple had truly labored with care. Compared to their most beloved children, Amalthea's treatment was even better.
They also exhausted their ingenuity for her divine body.
Her overall face and figure were unchanged from before.
But in many details, they refined, beautified, and strengthened her still further.
They also removed her cloven hooves, transforming them into normal, perfectly delicate divine feet.
They naturally did not forget her beautiful horns. Knowing how much the little goddess loved them, they gave them special beautification and careful carving.
The pair of long horns were now slender and sinuous, their surface sleek and lustrous. To match the Cornucopia crafted by Zeus, they were a pure golden hue.
They were also inlaid with crystalline gems formed of the Ocean's pure water, haloed in warm glows of all colors, and specially reinforced—guaranteed to be absolutely hard so that no one in the universe could easily break them.
Although, to the God-King's power…
Zeus should be more careful, or Amalthea would surely weep again.
As for her divine power—this was the main reason the Oceanus couple did not gestate her in their own bodies.
By the Ocean's source and the freshwater-moistening goddess's joint efforts, in the Ocean's deepest place, the vast power of the sea ceaselessly transformed endless chaotic nothingness into the purest and most immense source power.
Through a full forty-eight thousand sacred Twelve Cycles, immeasurable vast power was poured into Amalthea's divinity.
The result was that the strength Amalthea now possessed was in no way inferior to any mighty second-generation Titan!
In terms of divine body and divine power alone, even against a weaker primordial Titan, she could test her strength for a short time!
Now she was extraordinarily powerful!
Even Poseidon as he is now, if compared purely in strength of divine body and power, might not necessarily have the upper hand.
She herself had no notion of this yet.
In truth, Amalthea had long been ready to be reborn.
But the Oceanus couple had been on Olympus all this time, weaving the Divine Order with Zeus, with no time to return.
Amalthea had been guarded constantly by twelve powerful daughters of the Ocean, with Styx herself keeping watch.
Those Ocean daughters dared not rashly awaken Amalthea from her gestational sleep; only when the Assembly of All Gods was convened did they hurry to Olympus for the ceremony.
Amalthea now was like one fully of age in all respects, yet still "asleep in her parents' body."
And in that sleep, she continued to draw upon the Ocean's power to strengthen herself.
She lacked only a voice to call her from sleep.
That was the chief reason her elder sisters could leave at ease to attend the divine assembly.
Such a powerful great goddess, at home in the Ocean, hidden in the deepest and tightest place—and she was the God-King's beloved goddess besides.
No deity in their right mind would ever think someone foolish enough would dare harm her.
And yet—there was one.
The stupidity of a fool is beyond the imagination of normal deities; with a mere "flash of inspiration," they can commit the most foolish acts even the wisest gods cannot fathom.
And truly, guard against all you will—household thieves are the hardest to guard against.
This secret was inadvertently let slip by Philyra while "playing games" with Poseidon.
The favor shown Amalthea had made her far too envious!
When she was with Poseidon, she couldn't help revealing deep jealousy, and Poseidon quietly kept it in mind.
