"H-hyah!"
Lily jumped. She almost dropped the basil jar! Wobble. She caught it just in time.
"What is wrong, dear?" Mrs. Higgins asked, squinting her old eyes. "Did you see a spider?"
"N-no! No spider!" Lily stammered, her face turning beet red. "Just... just a cramp in my leg! A very bad cramp!"
"Oh, poor thing," Mrs. Higgins said.
Lily quickly turned back around to face the customer, putting the jar on the counter. But now, Alex changed his tactics. He moved his foot. He slid his boot between her ankles and started to rub his leg against her calf under the cover of the wooden counter.
"That will be... five coppers..." Lily breathed out, trying not to moan.
"You look flushed, Lily," Alex whispered from his chair, loud enough for her to hear but not the old lady. "Are you hot? Or are you just excited that I am touching you? Your face is red. You look like a naughty wife."
Lily ignored him desperatey.
