Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Outsider

DariAi continent, Morphet Household, Former Barony of Berek

Loud sound of hooves and neigh broke silence deep in the jungle awakening multitude predators. Numerous eyes glinting with overflowing malice focused on the noble carriage yet, all scurried instantly as if mouse meeting a cat. One growl of Dire wolf was enough to frighten even most insidious of predator.

Carriage at helm was effortlessly dragged by a pair of Dire wolves, 2m in height and 5m in length, their eyes gleamed in darkness as drool dripped down their bloodthirsty fangs. In dark of night several carriages rushed down the path followed by hundreds of cages. Inside one such cage, a body long cold stirred, from twitching of fingers to faint breathing 'it' suddenly jumped up catching everyone off guard.

Moel felt intense headache, everything was blurry and cold, too cold as if all blood in his body was frozen, small movements brought intense pain akin tearing of muscles almost suffocating him.

Huff huff

"What the hell, where am I? Is this a nightmare?"

As his vision cleared Moel found himself in an unfamiliar environment in a very unsettling way. He was caged, both his hands and legs were chained, while his body was covered in rags that barely hid his privates. Moel broke out in cold sweat, everything felt too strange to still be Earth. Before he could react, his body went limp, and darkness claimed him.

When Moel woke up, everything as far as his eye could follow was white. It felt like an illusion, the severe fatigue he felt was replaced by a soothing chill, to his amazement his body had turned corporeal. A while later Moel was roaming inside this mysterious space, he tried walking in different directions, but each time his steps halted before an invisible wall. All directions were blocked expect one where he found a very strange alter.

It was a massive circular platform, floating above the ground and connected by a stairway of milky white stone. Moel slowly stepped on it with apprehension and fear but what he saw at the top was a bit unexpected. There was a broken statue with everything above its waist missing, the gaps were uneven as if it exploded from inside, another thing that caught his eye was a grey and gooey substance rotating and splashing at one corner of the circular platform. The substance was corporeal just like Moel's body, contained inside a transparent circular vessel. Moel moved closer but still couldn't figure out anything.

'Should I touch it'

Moel thought to himself but decided against it, he wanted to wait yet no matter how long he seemed to be stuck in this place. For long nothing changed thus he decided to gamble and went up the alter once again.

He steeled his resolve and spread his hand for the rolling grey matter, easily penetrating outer circular transparent bubble as soon as his fingers came in contact with mysterious gooey substance, a bunch of memories flooded his mind making him grimace in pain.

What came in his mind was a ton of information regarding a boy named Gama, it was precisely the body Moel occupied after waking up. Gama lived in outskirts of Berek Barony under proxy rule of Morphet Household. He was eldest male in his family of five including his mother, two elder sisters and one younger brother. Gama had been a bit dull since childhood, but perhaps to compensate, he possessed an extraordinary physique, standing at 196 cm, he carried an intimidating frame that made life a little easier.

Gama's father died 13 years ago after getting conscripted by Baron Berek under the alliance of the Nobility against Morphet Household. Since young he worked odd jobs later joined a Guard company of mercenaries to feed his family, things got even better when his two sisters got married to fairly well families, everything was on track until soldiers of Morphet Household knocked on his door.

In return for a huge sum of money his family received, Gama sold himself into the servitude of Morphet household. It wasn't much of a choice, since alliance of nobility got annihilated everything in north of former Rosario Kingdom belongs to the name Morphet. It was when Gama was being transported to Morphet domain by proxy ruler of barony he died due to severe fever.

Moel stood unmoving, still feeling a tingling pain his head. He was a bit confused, but adding all the known information he came to an unsavory yet realistic conclusion, that his real self on earth died and his soul travelled to this world later occupying dead body of Gama. Moel still hadn't recovered from pain when eyes fell on empty vessel before him, the grey gooey substance disappeared what remained behind was a light golden drop. Looking at it Moel felt intense hunger from his being, thus he stretched his hand in a grabbing motion, but before his hand reach it the drop shot straight into his forehead and merged with him.

COUGH

Back in the cage, Moel sat up straight, he looked around it was still same cage same people. Their focused gazes weighed on him, stifling Moel for a moment, before he steadied himself and reclined on his rag. Moel was left bewildered, all his headache and pain were gone, he never felt more clearheaded, even his thinking was a point faster compared to before.

'Is it cause of that Golden drop?'

Moel scoured Gama's memories while pretending to be asleep. According to memories of dead Gama, the cage is headed to main domain of Morphet household. One thing Moel analyzed that all people in the cages were exceptionally tall and strong men just like him, what Moel understood from Gama's memories and conversation Gama had with fellow 'inmates' was that they were all either bought or abducted just like him. It's been more than a week since they were on way to Morphet domain, but all of them were well fed and their cages were always covered with black clothes whenever the convoy went to a Human settlement.

There was one special memory that left a deep impact on Moel, it was a week later Gama was bought, one cage got attacked by ware beasts, but before they could bring any harm, a black hooded man appeared in air, that mysterious man casually pointed his finger followed by intense heat a dark red beam pulverized all hostile ware beasts to smithereens. This left Moel shaken, this world was extraordinary. Moel was fearful but a bit expectant as well, he decided to hide his peculiarity, before getting a thorough knowledge about this world.

'From today onwards there will be no Moel, only a Gama'

Gama closed his eyes and drifted into sleep.
