Daniel escorted Michael down to the sitting room, where they sat together facing the ancient, days-looking television.
It was the 21st century already, and Daniel could have sworn he didn't know that type of television still existed. But with Michael's condition, he couldn't just blame him; television was the least of his worries now.
If Michael's state was like this despite being average in the countryside they were staying, he just couldn't fathom how others who lived in thatched roofs or cottages were managing. The thought of how the state of living was for them made him grimace. Poverty indeed was a disease, and nothing would make him grow up in one.
Michael held the remote control, so he changed the channel to a new one airing a show.
