Chapter 64 - The Strength of Ice When Under the Light... It Usually Melts Away (V)

Lavinia Grimwald

I'm warm.

Very warm.

I'm never this warm unless I'm using my Will.

Did I fall asleep?

I was just in Rin's room.

I'm… cozy, for some reason.

My bed has been so uncomfortable recently.

There's a light pressure along my waist. Moving up and down along with my breaths.

It feels… pleasant. It makes me feel safe.

Why?

I sluggishly reach down towards my waist. Still mostly asleep. As if I were moving in a dream.

Grabbing the object against my waist, it felt like a cylinder. An Arm?

I follow the arm up, reaching a bigger source.

It felt hard. Like a partly-tone muscle.

My head cleared a bit. Enough for me to gain the sense to open my eyes.

But I don't want to open my eyes. I'm so comfortable. I just want to go back to sleep.

My hand moved. Swayed slightly by the object. It reminded me of breathing.

Confused, I cracked my eyes open.

As they slowly widened, the morning light of dawn assaulted my eyes.

I never shadow my window, I'm always up before the sun in the winter.

Did I really sleep in that much? Was I that tired?

No. It was because I spent part of the night trying to stay warm.

Damn Rin!

ready to march over to his room to give him an ear full for that crap, my eyes shot open.

…?

Huh?

No.

Wait?... What?... Why?... He?... Huuuhhh?!

My mouth opened and closed many times. Too stunned to speak.

This can't be real!

What does he think he's doing?!

My head spun around, recognising the layout of my room.

Then down at my bed.

My room.

He's in my room!

In my bed!

What is he doing!?

Why!?

I pushed away from him, but the sheets wouldn't budge.

"Idiot!!! What are you doing in my roooooom?!"

My voice was a mix of shock, anger, and embarrassment.

His eyes shot open at my yelling. His body jerked from the sudden jolt.

His morning voice was calm and filled with confusion. "What are you yelling for…?" He trailed off. "I-I-I fell asleep?!"

"You'll be asleep permanently! If you don't get this damn sheet off right nooow!!!"

Without wasting a second, he unwrapped the sheet, and jumped out of my bed.

Grabbing the sheet and wrapping it around my body, I watched him as he bolted towards the door, before stopping in his tracks and calmly looking back.

"Can I at least take my sheet back?"

The nerve of him!

Grabbing the nearest object, which was a pillow, I tossed it at him with full essence-enhanced force.

Hitting him square in the face, he finally took that as the hint to exit my room.

Closing the door behind him, the sound of his movements narrated his actions. He stormed across the hall, slamming his door shut before everything settled in silence once again.

Or at least, there was no physical noise.

But my mind was anything but silent.

"Why was he… sleeping next to me?" I spoke my thoughts out loud.

Sitting up on my bed, I slapped my hands to my face, keeping them there.

"He's just an idiot!"

"That idiot!"

"If he doesn't explain himself, I'm going to kill him!"

My heart was beating wildly… from the shock.

It was definitely because of the shock.

Turning my head towards my commode, I looked at myself through the small mirror I always keep there.

My face and ears were cherry red. Completely in contrast to my bright blond hair.

I don't know why, but there was only one thought running through my head.

How embarrassing.

"I wasn't wearing any cosmetics…"

Rin

Hopping out of the shower, I chattered when the air hit my wet skin.

I usually take really hot showers in an attempt to feel warm again, but since my perpetual cold was gone, I found myself taking a cold one. Freezing, actually.

I needed something to be normal today. May as well have started with a familiar shower.

Wrapping the towel around my waist, I walked over to the bathroom mirror.

My hair fell down in front of my eyes, blocking some of my vision. It has gotten pretty long. I guess I should start thinking about cutting it, or getting the Grimwald's hairstyle.

Looking down, I examined how my body had grown over the past month. I used to be dangerously skinny. With no muscle, and skin to bone.

Now, the transformation was astounding. Lean muscles lined my body, my pecks added width to me I wasn't used to, and I now had a very prominent pair of abs.

I wouldn't say I was overly muscular. My muscles didn't add much size to my limbs, but they were toned and easy to see that I worked on them.

It's remarkable to think just over a month ago, I was practically a skeleton. I guess the body grows faster with a strong Will.

Raising my arm, I lightly touched my left peck.

Did she…?

Thinking back, my ears began to burn.

I can't believe I fell asleep!

Grabbing the back of my neck, I made my way out of the bathroom and to my bed, where I had laid out my clothes.

My body shivered slightly, a cold wind blowing across the room.

Looking up, I saw that the window was swung open.

That's weird. I'm pretty sure I never opened it. Though, I guess I was in a daze earlier. And desperately needed to cool down.

As the window closed with a soft thud, and loud winds no longer blew in, the room was once again silent.

Breathing a heavy breath, I took a moment to watch the scene outside. The bright, obscuring sun glared into my eyes. Only slightly above the horizon.

"My Substitute." A deep voice came from behind.

My body unconsciously twisted, wanting to face the invader in my room.

My eyes widened.

Standing in the dark corner at the opposite end of the room, holding an eerie grin, with a wicked look in his eyes, was Lord Elgin.

"Let's talk."
