Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Identity Revealed

In less than ten minutes, the entire modern, well-equipped U.S. military unit was annihilated under Abomination. Humans screamed, fire raged, and what was once a prosperous, peaceful city corner had become a living hell.

Abomination moved like a creature born for slaughter, its feet pressing down on flattened vehicles leaking thick blood. It glanced at its clenched fists, sensing its unparalleled superhuman strength, and a human-like yet twisted, satisfied grin spread across its face.

"P-please don't kill me…"

A rifle clattered to the ground. The sole surviving U.S. soldier knelt in a pool of blood, staring at his shattered comrades in horror. His spirit, his fighting will, seemed completely crushed in that instant, and his legs gave out.

Along with the soldiers' defeat, the soldier's faith in everything he believed in was shattered.

The sheer overwhelming power of Abomination made him doubt that even God, if real, could withstand this unstoppable monster.

Abomination snarled at the soldier, stepping forward like the embodiment of death itself, making the ground tremble under its feet. The soldier stayed kneeling, hands weakly bracing the ground, awaiting death.

Just as Abomination considered whether to crush the soldier with its hands or stomp him to pulp, a figure suddenly streaked across the fire-lit night sky behind it.

Whizz! Whizz! Whizz!

Three strands of white webbing struck Abomination's bald head. It reached back and found its hand covered in sticky web. Confused, it turned toward the partially destroyed clock tower, where a human girl in a black-and-white Spider suit perched on top.

"Big guy, wanna play?" Spider-Woman, Gwen, taunted, gesturing with a finger, then swung away using her web.

"Roar!"

Abomination bellowed and ignored the soldier, stomping backward. The cracked pavement and collapsing street beneath it shook as it launched like a human missile onto the clock tower, then shot straight after Gwen swinging on her web.

The soldier gawked in disbelief, until a voice nearby spoke: "Hey, sir, shouldn't you take the chance to leave?"

He instinctively looked for the voice, but all he saw was a sea of flames and ruins. No one was there.

Thanks to the voice, he snapped back to reality, scrambled to his feet, and staggered away from the unforgettable battlefield.

In a nearby evacuated building, a silver-haired boy with a circular shield and vintage long sword stood behind a window—Xi Nian.

He sighed, unsure why, after deciding to leave, he had followed Spider-Woman back toward the ruined battlefield.

Somehow, he couldn't let go of the lone girl venturing into danger.

Even though she was just a stranger with superhuman powers!

"Whatever. Since I'm here, let's see."

Xi Nian gripped his long sword and leaped to the roof of a church thirty meters above the ground. Nearby stood the clock tower, now partly destroyed by Abomination.

He crouched low, observing the city ahead.

Spider-Woman knew she couldn't fight Abomination head-on. She swung along empty streets, agile and small, slipping through windows and alleys only her size could pass.

Even so, Abomination relentlessly pursued her. The distance between them closed rather than widened.

It ignored any building in its path, smashing and leaping through obstacles.

Boom!

Like a human missile, Abomination crashed past her, smashing a hole in a building wall.

It grabbed the eave and reached for her. At the last second, she pulled back on her web, narrowly avoiding the grasp. Her white hood was shredded.

"Roar!" Abomination's rage intensified as it chased her into an alley.

"That was close," Xi Nian muttered from above, impressed by her strength.

But even her escape would only delay the inevitable.

"No… she's not just running."

Xi Nian's eyes brightened. She was luring Abomination into a crowded area of buildings.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The walls of the alley were battered as Abomination barreled through. Its veins bulged, rage radiating.

Roaring like thunder, it smashed through the alley, widening it two or three times.

But this time, it charged into a massive spider-web trap. White webs stretched across the surrounding buildings, nearly a hundred strands forming a giant snare.

Normally, Abomination might resist, but in its fury, it collided with the trap.

"Now!"

From the church rooftop, Xi Nian saw her shoot webs rapidly from her wrists, wrapping Abomination's head and limbs, anchoring them to nearby buildings.

Within five seconds, Abomination was encased in a massive cocoon, its face and mouth sealed, trapped in perfect harmony with the surrounding architecture.

"Impressive. I underestimated her," Xi Nian muttered.

Exhausted, Spider-Woman finally relaxed, sitting high on a wall. She pulled her mask slightly up, revealing her delicate jaw, small breathing mouth, and high, graceful nose.

"No way…" Xi Nian shivered.

Even just half her face exposed, she looked strikingly like someone he knew.
