Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Proving Oneself

Marcus took a deep breath, adjusted his condition, and walked down from the back mountain.

All along the way, he was extremely excited.

Today's experience had truly changed his fate.

From someone without a magical core who was considered useless by his family, to awakening the Ten Thousand Spells Spiritual Body, mastering alchemy, and gaining the initial inheritance of the "Grimoire of Ten Thousand Spells."

"As long as I have enough time, I will definitely be able to surpass everyone!"

Marcus's eyes shone with confidence.

However, just as he was about to return to the Blackthorne complex, a mocking voice suddenly came.

"Well, well, isn't this our family's 'non-magical trash'? What's this? Done hiding in the back mountains crying, finally brave enough to come back?"

Marcus stopped, looked up, and saw Theodore standing not far away with a group of Blackthorne family members, staring at him with a playful expression.

"Haha, Marcus, today is the day of the family assessment. You're not planning to run away, are you?"

"No wonder, after all, you don't even have a magical core. Participating in the assessment would only bring shame upon yourself."

The Blackthorne family members around them laughed one by one, their eyes full of contempt.

Marcus frowned slightly. He didn't want to pay attention to these people, but when he heard the words "family assessment," his eyes froze slightly.

He had been abandoned by the family, and even his cultivation resources had been taken away, so it made sense that he wouldn't qualify to participate in the assessment at all.

But now...

"What are the specific contents of the family assessment?" Marcus asked lightly.

Theodore paused for a moment, then sneered: "Why? You don't know? Forget it, there's no harm in telling you."

"The family assessment is divided into two parts: the magical core test and the combat trial. Only those who pass both are qualified to be cultivated by the family."

"And you..." Theodore sneered, "You can't even pass the first magical core test, and you still want to take the assessment?"

The family members around them laughed again, as if they were watching a joke.

But the corners of Marcus's mouth lifted in a playful smile.

"Is that so? Then let's give it a try."

Theodore frowned, always feeling that Marcus was a little different today, but then he sneered again, his face full of disgust: "Since you're not afraid of shame, then I want to see what tricks trash like you can pull off."

The Blackthorne family training ground.

At this time, the training ground was already full of family members, and the family elders and senior officials were also sitting on the high platform, preparing to observe the assessment.

Marcus followed Theodore and the others to the training ground, and as soon as he appeared, he caused a commotion.

"Isn't that Marcus? He came too?"

"Didn't they say he couldn't cultivate magic at all? What's he doing in the assessment?"

"Isn't this hilarious?"

Everyone was talking, and their eyes were full of doubt and mockery.

Marcus looked calm and walked directly to the testing area.

"Marcus, are you sure you want to take the assessment?" The examining elder frowned and stared at him, with a hint of impatience in his tone.

"Of course," Marcus nodded indifferently.

The elder sighed slightly, casually took out the spirit measuring crystal, and placed it in front of Marcus, saying lightly: "Then put your hand on it."

Marcus nodded, slowly extended his hand, and pressed it onto the spirit crystal.

Suddenly, the spirit crystal trembled slightly, and bright light suddenly bloomed!

The dazzling golden light directly illuminated the entire training ground, and everyone couldn't help but widen their eyes.

"What... what's happening?"

"The spirit crystal actually has this kind of reaction?!"

Theodore's face suddenly changed drastically, and he stared at the spirit crystal in disbelief.

And the examining elder suddenly stood up, his face full of surprise: "This... This is a special spirit awakening!"

"Marcus, your magical core... what is it?"

Marcus smiled slightly and said gently, "Ten Thousand Spells Spiritual Body."

As soon as those words were spoken, the entire training ground immediately became as silent as death.

Soon, everyone was shocked.

"Ten Thousand Spells Spiritual Body? Did I hear correctly? That's the legendary supreme spiritual body!"

"How is this possible? He had a magical core?"

"My God, what happened?"

Marcus was in no hurry, withdrew his hand, and looked at the elder calmly: "Now, do I qualify to participate in the combat trial?"

The examining elder took a deep breath, stared at Marcus with complex eyes, and finally nodded slowly: "Of course you qualify."

Theodore's face was very ugly to look at. He stared at Marcus carefully, his fists clenched, and his nails almost embedded in his palms.

"Impossible! That must be fake!"

He gritted his teeth and said, "Even if you have a magical core, so what? The combat trial is the most important link, and it's impossible for trash like you to defeat anyone!"

The corners of Marcus's mouth lifted slightly, showing a faint smile: "Is that so? Then let's give it a try."

He slowly walked toward the combat arena, his eyes calm and confident.

Theodore snorted coldly and turned to look at the elder: "Elder, trash like this doesn't deserve to fight at all. I'm willing to act personally and let him recognize reality!"

The examining elder frowned. Although Theodore's attitude was arrogant, his cultivation was indeed not low. He had reached the third level of mana refinement and was considered among the best of his peers.

And Marcus... Although he had awakened his magical core, he had never practiced, and he really had no chance of winning.

"Very well, Theodore versus Marcus, the combat trial begins!"

With the elder's command, everyone's eyes immediately focused on the center of the training ground.

Theodore sneered and walked into the arena, his eyes full of contempt, "Marcus, you will soon understand that trash is still a lowly creature, and it's impossible to become a genius overnight!"

Marcus stood in the arena, his expression calm, and his eyes shining with playful light.

"Is that so?"

He moved his wrist slightly, and a smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.

"Then let's give it a try."
