The evening air was cool as Elias and the other students trudged back to the hotel from the health centre, their footsteps were heavy with exhaustion.
The day had been long and chaotic, especially for Elias, who still felt the weight of the Dr Carter incident on his shoulders. His white coat was stuffed into his bag. The group's chatter was subdued since everyone was worn out from the demanding work at the understaffed hospital. Only two days remained before they'd return to campus, and the thought brought Elias a mix of relief and anxiety... he couldn't afford another flare-up of his heat.
As they approached the hotel's entrance, the group headed straight for the restaurant, their stomachs growling after hours of work. The smell of grilled chicken and warm bread wafted through the air, promising a much-needed meal.
Elias lingered at the back, as he kept glancing at his watch. He was happy to see that there was no beeping but he knew it was only temporary.
