Chapter 5 - Moonlight Confessions

Isolde Pov:

-

After the chaos with Adrian, my room felt like it was holding its breath. Dante had left without another word, his knuckles bruised, his eyes unreadable.

For hours, I couldn't sleep. His voice kept replaying in my head.

"I'll burn anyone who tries to take you from me."

The next day, I found him leaning against his car, waiting for me as if nothing had happened.

"Get in," he said.

"No." My arms folded across my chest. "You don't just storm into my life, punch people, and vanish like some avenging angel. I want answers, Dante."

His jaw tightened, but he opened the passenger door anyway. "Then come for a drive. Ask me whatever you want."

I hesitated at first but I wanted answers so I got into his car .

---

The road hummed beneath us, the night air cool through the cracked window. Finally, I blurted it out.

"Why me?" My voice cracked. "Why are you always there—protecting me, saving me, tearing my world apart? You don't even know me."

His hands gripped the wheel tighter. Silence stretched between us.

Then, softly, he said, "It's not about knowing. It's about… feeling. We have a bond, Isolde. Something I can't explain. But I'll kill before I break it."

My heart thudded painfully. "That's not an answer."

"It's the only one you'll get." His eyes flicked toward me, burning. "For now."

---

We ended up walking along the old path near campus, the moon hanging silver above us. The world was quiet—just the sound of leaves, our footsteps, our breaths.

For once, there were no fights, no screaming, no shadows chasing us. Just him and me.

I stopped under the glow of the moon. "This bond you talk about… do you even want it?"

He turned, his face half in shadow, half in light. "Want it?" His voice dropped low. "It's the only thing keeping me alive."

And then he was closer. His hand slid to the small of my back, pulling me gently toward him. I froze, breathless, his forehead resting against mine.

"Tell me to stop," he whispered.

I didn't.

"Isolde,tell me to stop"

it was the first time he has called me that name, but I still kept shut . He leaned in slowly his eyes meeting mine , pushing me softly on the sandy beach .

Our lips met—soft at first, tentative, then hungry, desperate, like the world was ending around us. The kiss tasted of danger and need, of everything we shouldn't be but couldn't stop.

My hands clung to his shirt. His fingers tangled in my hair.

And then—

"ISOLDE!"

We broke apart, gasping.

Two figures stood down the path—our campus headmasters, lanterns in hand, eyes wide in horror.

"What on earth do you think you're doing?" one of them barked.

My cheeks burned, Dante's chest still pressed against mine.

And for once, he didn't smirk. He didn't move. He just held me tighter, daring the world to tear us apart.
