Dylan asked someone to look for every detail about Matt, he was going to do everything to make sure Virginia was happy. Two days later, the investigator came at his office," these are the files you asked for Sir," he said as he handed the files to Dylan. Dylan started going through the files and his eyes widened more and more with each page that he flipped," this can't be,". Tears rolled down his one eye as he went into an absence seizure.
Six months earlier...….
"I think Dylan is the best man for the job, he is a well-known engineer with a very good reputation and awesome reviews on the internet", a gentleman says. And Virginia is the perfect woman for the job, her analytic levels are insanely accurate, am sure if both of them work together they are going to make the most reliable portable defibrillator in the world, "another man added. Dylan was a known technical engineer who had many reliable machines all around the world. He had worked in all sectors that require his knowledge however this was a big project for him, the richest men in the country had come together to invest in this project and if all went well, this could earn him millions and more recognition amongst executives of the country.
Dylan had lived all his life trying to prove to his father that he is very useful and can be the best amongst others, his desire for being outstanding and the yarn for feeling important always drove him to work harder and harder each day. He topped his class during school and scored scholarships from many different teaching institutes, he went through the best university still as the best student that year and even secured his masters immediately after the degree. He did everything just to hear his dad say that he is proud of him and at last he attained it. He was very close to his dad that he would do anything to make him proud. Sadly, his dad was found hanging from the beam using a rope. This put the mother into depression and she totally neglected the boys. Dylan had a brother and it was just the two of them therefore had each other to rely on and take care of their mother.
Shortly after their father's death, their mother fell sick and passed away few months later. This disorganized Dylan's brother's mental state more since he was closer to their mother. The boys had to thrive on their own and therefore ended up in different foster homes losing track of each other. When Dylan became of age, he decided to start leaving alone and started working since he was done with school. His incredible desire to do the best had earned him fame in the industry and his success in different projects had built his reputation brick by brick. He had a lot of money but felt empty and therefore he slept with as many women as he wanted but none of them genuinely cared about him, all they cared about was money so he came to a conclusion that people can only love him because of money and without it no one would care about him. To him, money could get him anything his heart desired and therefore he took his work so seriously.
On the other hand, Virginia was a statistician who had also worked hard to gain the seat she is seated on at the high table. Virginia had to work hard in order for her to support her family, her mother had gotten partial paralysis from the shock she got from the death of her children's father. She was the eldest daughter of the family therefore had to work different jobs to pay her tuition and take care of her mother and young sister. She had completed school with good grades and started building her career, she was very kin and that made her the best analyst since she never rushed to make conclusions. She focused on self-development and aimed at building a big career for herself and be a very powerful woman. She despised Dylan because she felt like he got everything handed to him and he never had to work hard for anything. She felt like Dylan looked down on everyone he is richer than and saw them as pawns he could just order around and throw money to.
Both Dylan and Virginia were invited to discuss a new project that was going to be made. It was about making portable defibrillators where resuscitating can easily be done to someone who is fighting for their life while paramedics where coming. They were both seated inside the conference room looking at each other intensely, however they could not object to the idea of working together since the investors had chosen that, it was either they worked together or leave the project. Dylan simply disliked Virginia because of the way she looked at him, to him she was a nobody doing senseless work and he felt like his work was more important than hers, all she was doing was going through a bunch of documents and his work was a hands-on job.
They were tasked to start the work as early as possible and they had one month to deliver the final project however, every after a week they were supposed to meet with the board and present their progress at that particular moment. They took on the job since it was a big deal for the both of them, they shook hands. Dylan's eyes looking up and down analyzing her and he thought to himself "she is just a pretty girl in a pretty dress, she has no business working with someone like me". Virginia looked straight in his eyes and thought to herself "he is arrogant and handsome however he thinks the world evolves around him because he looks good and he is rich". They all walked out of the conference room and each went to their car and left the premises.
The following week, Dylan kept on drawing different blue prints of the device in order to come up with a light yet effective defibrillator. On the other hand, Virginia kept on visiting the archives of hospitals to analyze information provided by different hospital getting to know what exactly the hospitals want, device performance data and the reviews from patients. She needed to quantify the risks associated with the device, group the responses from different hospitals and narrow down the ideas to fewer options with less risks. This was to ensure safety of the machine before publishing it.
When the first week got done, the board sat down to listen to the two of them and checked their developments. Virginia presented the work she had done with the researchers about the machine and Dylan show cased his blue prints, the investors appreciated their progress and permitted them to continue with their work. Dylan went on and started gathering the different parts and tools he needed to create a prototype and Virginia went on with more research. After three days, Virginia came to Dylan's workshop where he used to work from alone without disturbances. He was usually in his workshop especially when he was building something new.
"Basing on the blue prints you gave me, I do not think that this defibrillator will work. According to my research the risks that are expected from the particular design you made are much higher than any other design", she said. Dylan just looked at her, grinned his teeth and went on with his business, after being ignored, Virginia moved out angrily and slammed the door behind her. "She thinks she can just come in here and tell me what to do basing on just theories", he thought to himself. Virginia walked to her car and opened it, sat inside and let out a loud scream out of anger and frustration. This project had to be done and Dylan was making it had for both of them, he didn't want to listen to any devise claiming he works better alone.
The second meeting had come and the two of them hadn't come to an agreement yet. When the time for presenting reached, Virginia was the first to present "according to my research, the prototype presented by Dylan isn't reliable, it has so many risks including shocks that can come from the too much currency flowing through the machine," she said. I would strongly advise him to reconsider the shape and material used ", she added and sat down. Dylan stood up presenting his prototype but didn't have much to say, the machine hadn't been tested yet so he had no way of proving Virginia wrong however much her theories were just assumptions." We put the both of you on this project because we expected you to work together and present a reliable product, we didn't expect that you would come in here and start playing childish games of blaming each and all that you are doing." One of the board members said. "You have one week to get things right, the next time we meet we want results and you both should know that you aren't supposed to come in here and complain about each other, whatever issues you have you should sort it out or else you are going to lose this project," another board member said." We want the final prototype so that we start producing as soon as possible we have a deadline we are trying to meet," he added.
When all the board members moved out, Dylan asked Virginia to stay back so that the two of them could talk." I haven't been really nice to you, have looked down on you because I felt like your job isn't as important as my job," he said. "Am really sorry about that, I really need this job and am so sorry for being arrogant, "he added. Virginia smiled at him and they both looked at each other as friends for the first time. "I think I should apologize as well, I would have been a lot nicer to you and maybe we should really work together because I need this project as well, "she said. "Though am not going to change the way I look at you, you are still hot and bossy, "he replied and the two laughed while having a handshake.
The following days they worked together and Virginia helped out Dylan to choose the parts that they needed to use to make the defibrillator more reliable and manageable. Their relationship became better as they kept on going for coffee dates, discussing their project over lunch dates. On the final day after making the ultimate prototype, they presented it to the board and everyone was pleased with the presentation, it was satisfying, "It is good that you two finally decided to work together, everything has turned out way better than our expectations and we are grateful for that, hopefully we will see you working together more oftenly," one of the board members said. The prototype was tasted by doctors infront of the board members and it was medically approved, the papers authorizing production were signed. Dylan was given the position of supervising the production process and Virginia was to asses everything going on during the production. A company that belonged to one of the investors in the project was given the task of producing but under the supervision of the two. Bottles of wine were brought into the meeting room and they all tossed to the new project. When all the board members left, Dylan held the prototype and smiled, "we did this," he said to Virginia. "Cheers to us," he added. The two of them headed to the company to check for the parts available and brief the workers, Dylan showed them how they had to assemble the machine and after three hours of practice, some of them learnt how to do it. "Those who have learnt will continue teaching the others as production is going on, our bosses need the produce and we don't have to waste any time," Dylan said. "However, since the machine is going to deal with life, am going to ask for a grace period of one week from the bosses so that everyone gets well conversate with assembling of the machine," he added.
After making sure that everything was set, Dylan and Virginia headed to Dylan's workshop. They stood over the table admiring their work, "you are a very good engineer you know, I have got to admit this is incredible, well-done," Virginia said. "And without you all of it wouldn't have made any sense, thank you too, I didn't want to take your advice in the beginning but you were right however much a machine looks reliable, it needs statistics to prove its reliability and safety", Dylan replied. There were papers all over the table and tools besides the new portable defibrillator. Dylan 's eyes were fixated on Virginia lost in admiration, something about her kept on pulling him closer to her it was like an invisible force he couldn't explain. They had just been close for a week but he felt like she was the one, his heart was calling out to her. Dylan got around the table and came to where Virginia was standing, her eyes looking seductively at him at that point she also wanted him very bad. They looked at each other's eyes not uttering a word just breathing heavily, he licked his lips, held her waist and pulled her closer to him. He kissed her while turning her body positioning her to sit on the table. She put her hands at the back and started pushing away the papers that were all over the table and she opened her legs slightly creating space for his fingers to easily go through the space she had created between the legs. He brushed his fingers from her calf to her thigh finding his way to her pearl, he rotated his index finger around it and she let out a soft moan, he kissed her neck and smiled at her." Its late you should go get some sleep, "he said as he walked away from her. She looked at him, smiled, and she re-applied her lip stick.
