I awake in my old room again.
The same room where it all happened.
The room I wish I never had to see again.
I get off my bed, the same one, blood-soaked from countless nights spent cleaning my wounds.
I look around, seeing reflections of my past.
Everything looks the same.
I walk to the door, my hands trembling.
Memories flood in, this was the day I learned my so-called parents never cared about me.
I hear my mother's voice from downstairs.
"Samukawa Misaki! Get down here!" she yells.
Reluctantly, I go down the stairs, my knees shaking.
My sister grabs my arm.
I try to jerk away, but I can't.
She whispers something in my ear, but I can't hear her, my heart is racing.
I scream, and then everything goes black.
I jolt awake, heart pounding, drenched in sweat.
Reina sits at the edge of my bed, smiling warmly.
I'm still trembling. She pulls me close to her chest.
"It's all right. I'm here. You're safe now," Reina says.
I feel the warmth radiating from her.
Slowly, my breathing calms.
I don't know where I'd be if that war had never happened.
I try to fight back the tears, but it's no use , they stream down my face.
If it weren't for Reina and her team, I wouldn't be where I am now.
In a safe, warm place.
She is the only one that can calm me this way. Maybe this is why I trust her so much.
