"I see, so you came for the Dragon Radar to look for the Dragon Balls."
Bulma smirked. "No need for that. To be honest, I already gathered them a few days ago."
"What?! You already collected them?" Goku's eyes widened. He didn't expect Bulma to have the Dragon Balls ready.
In his heart, he finally understood why the Shadow Dragons appeared in the future. Bulma would gather the Dragon Balls every so often to grant wishes. The negative energy inside built up over time, and eventually, that gave birth to the Evil Dragons. In truth, she carried some responsibility for it.
But that was all in the future. For now, the Shadow Dragons didn't exist yet.
"Then… sorry to trouble you, Bulma. I've got something I need Shenron's help with, and it'll take up two wishes." Goku spoke politely.
Bulma raised a brow, surprised. Goku being polite? That's new… Normally, he was casual and blunt, but today felt different.
"It's fine," she said with a grin. "The Dragon Balls can grant three wishes now. I'll only need one. Wait here, I'll go get them." With that, Bulma turned and walked away.
Inside Vegeta's Gravity Training Room
The room glowed with a deep red light. The monitor on the console displayed a staggering number: 1500G.
The entire chamber was under one-thousand-five-hundred times Earth's gravity.
Yet Vegeta moved like it was nothing—dashing, striking, dodging without hesitation. His body had long adapted to the crushing pressure.
"Tch. One thousand five hundred isn't pushing me anymore. Time to raise it higher." Vegeta muttered, moving toward the control panel.
But then, he froze.
"…Kakarot?!" He felt Goku's energy nearby. His rival's sudden arrival made him pause.
Ever since Majin Buu's defeat two years ago, he hadn't seen Kakarot. Both had been training on their own paths. Now, Goku's sudden visit stirred his Saiyan pride.
Vegeta smirked faintly, shut down the gravity controls, and relaxed as the pressure vanished from his body. He walked out of the chamber.
Back outside, Goku stood waiting, deep in thought.
Once this wish is done, I've gotta make sure the Dragon Balls aren't overused again… The Shadow Dragons were born because of us. I won't let that future repeat itself.
He clenched his fists, remembering the battle with Omega Shenron, where even Super Saiyan 4 hadn't been enough. He had lost his life that day.
This time, things will be different.
Suddenly, he sensed Vegeta's ki approaching. Turning around, he smiled. "Vegeta."
The two locked eyes. Goku remembered how Vegeta had stood with him against Omega Shenron until the end.
"We meet again, Kakarot." Vegeta's voice was cold, but sharp. His eyes narrowed, scanning Goku's body. He immediately noticed something—Goku's muscles, his energy, everything felt different, stronger.
"You've been training hard," Vegeta said flatly, though inside, he was more serious. Damn him. If he keeps improving this fast, I'll have to push even harder to surpass him. I can't stay at Super Saiyan 2 forever.
"You're not bad yourself, Vegeta," Goku grinned. "Looks like your training's paying off too." He could sense it—Vegeta was close to breaking into Super Saiyan 3, but hadn't crossed the line yet. Still, Goku knew better than to tell him how. Vegeta would never forgive such a thing.
"Hmph!" Vegeta snorted, stepping forward. Their eyes locked again, and without a word, both released their ki. The air between them crackled.
Goku countered Vegeta's pressure easily, their auras clashing in silence. For a moment, it felt like a fight could break out at any second.
"Hey! Goku! Vegeta! What do you two think you're doing?!"
Bulma's voice cut through the tension. She was carrying the seven Dragon Balls in her arms, glaring at the two Saiyans. "Don't you dare start a fight here! My house will be destroyed—and probably the whole city too!"
Both warriors relaxed and withdrew their energy.
Vegeta's gaze flicked toward the Dragon Balls. He understood now why Goku had come. But unlike Kakarot, he had no interest in wishes. His only goal was to surpass his rival with his own strength.
Still, he couldn't help but be curious. What could Kakarot possibly want from Shenron?
Bulma carefully placed the seven Dragon Balls on the ground, lifted her hands, and began the summoning chant. The orbs shone with a golden glow as power surged through the air…
The sky turned pitch black for miles, and the next second, a golden beam of light shot up from the seven Dragon Balls. The light gathered, and soon the mighty Shenron appeared, his massive body filling the sky. His power alone made the air heavy.
"You who have gathered all seven Dragon Balls, state your wishes. I can grant three of them," Shenron boomed in his deep, commanding voice.
Far away in the Other World, North Kai perked up with excitement the moment Shenron appeared.
Finally! After all these years, I've been waiting for this!
Down on Earth, Goku stared up at Shenron, falling into thought.
In my world, the Shadow Dragons were born because we overused the Dragon Balls. After this, I'll only use them if it's truly necessary.
He looked up with resolve.
"Shenron, my first wish is to bring back North Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory."
Shenron's eyes glowed red. "Your first wish… is granted."
A wave of power spread from Shenron, racing across the world, through the Other World, and to King Kai's tiny planet. In that instant, the halos above King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory vanished. They were alive again.
"I… I'm back!" King Kai said, tears welling up in his eyes. "Finally, no more jokes at my expense!" For years, he had been teased by the other Kais for dying when Cell exploded on his planet. Now, he could finally hold his head high again.
Bubbles jumped happily, and Gregory zipped around, but they didn't care much about death anyway. For them, being alive or dead wasn't such a big deal.
Back on Earth, Shenron spoke again, his voice echoing in everyone's hearts.
"Your first wish has been granted. State your second."
Goku nodded. "Shenron, for my second wish… I want my tail back."
Vegeta's eyes narrowed. What's this, Kakarot? Why would you want your tail back now?
Back in the old days, the Saiyan tail was their key to becoming Great Apes, multiplying their power tenfold. But ever since Super Saiyan transformations, tails had been considered useless—even a weakness. Vegeta himself had long given his up.
Shenron's eyes glowed again. "Your wish is granted."
Goku suddenly felt an itch at his waist, then—fwip!—a brown, furry tail pushed out through his waistband. He grabbed it, smiling. "Heh… it's back."
He could feel it. His energy had grown, his body felt whole again. The tail wasn't just about raw power—it was something deeper.
"Your second wish has been granted. State your third." Shenron sounded almost eager to finish.
Before Goku could speak, Bulma raised her hand. "Okay, it's my turn. Shenron, my wish is—"
"Hold it." Vegeta's voice cut her off. He stepped forward, arms crossed. "That third wish… belongs to me."
Bulma turned, frowning. "What? I collected the Dragon Balls! Goku already used two wishes, and now you—ugh, fine. But only because you're my husband." She huffed and crossed her arms, clearly annoyed.
Vegeta smirked, then looked up at Shenron. "My wish is the same as Kakarot's. Give me back my tail."
Shenron's eyes flashed. "Your wish is granted."
Vegeta felt a sudden pressure at his back, then a furry brown tail burst through his armor. He swung it once, grinning proudly. "Hmph. Just as I thought… my power has increased greatly."
Shenron's voice thundered one last time. "Your three wishes are fulfilled. Farewell."
His body glowed, then vanished into golden sparks as the Dragon Balls scattered across the Earth once more. The sky cleared, sunlight returning.
Vegeta smirked, his eyes locking onto Goku. "Now I see why you did it, Kakarot. The tail doesn't just boost power… it restores something we Saiyans lost. With this, you won't be pulling ahead of me so easily."
Goku chuckled, tail curling around his waist. "You figured it out quick, Vegeta. But you're wrong about one thing—the tail isn't just about strength." He smiled mysteriously, then touched two fingers to his forehead. "Goodbye, Vegeta. Goodbye, Bulma."
In an instant, Goku vanished with Instant Transmission, leaving Vegeta scowling in frustration and Bulma pouting with her arms crossed.
