That night, Lucien and Ash left the hospital, leaving Martin under Naomi's care. Martin was too rest overnight before being discharged the next day.
Lucien drove quietly through the dimly lit road, the hum of engine the only sound in the car. Ash sat beside him, staring blankly out of the window, lost in his own thoughts. Ever since he had come out of Dr. Eric's office, he had barely spoken a word.
Lucien glanced at him, his tone soft but concerned. "Since you came back from that call, you've been quiet. Are you alright? You know you can tell me anything."
Ash's voice was faint. "I'm okay."
But he wasn't. Dr. Eric's words kept echoing in his mind-pregnant. He still couldn't believe it. Just hours ago, he had been teasing Naomi, saying such a thing could never happen to him. And now...it had.
How was he supposed to tell the world that he was carrying his brother's child?
