Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

Chartreuse…Friday…

No longer the same…

That felt hilarious to me. I honestly thought they were joking so I chuckled.

"Is this some kind of joke? Maybe you guys should reinvestigate. It isn't possible…"

"A student could have done this to you, Chartreuse. Someone who hates you well enough to have done this to you." Daphne said.

I looked at Mr. Daryn; "Weren't you the one who told us that the darken potion I only used to raise the dead? Weren't you the one who said the person will face repercussions?"

"The thing is, the person knows about the trick to using the darken. The person who did that must be an ancient ghostly creatures, no doubt and you were it's living insence. Whom he or she used as his cooling agent, we are not yet sure but this trick is usually the safest way to the person. The ghost took your life to save another." Mr. Daryn sighed "If this was taught in schools, a lot of persons would use this selfishly."

I looked away. So my life was taken to save another life and the repercussions now magnets to me.

"You will have to be on quarantine, Chartreuse." Mr. Sean broke out.

"What??!" My eyes went wide and I could feel something turn inside me. The trolley having some surgical items fell down.

Daphne gasped.

"Calm down, Chartreuse." Mr. Sean said, probably trying to coax me.

"Did I do that?" I asked, stuttering a bit.

"Of course you did. Your Ganeth side is now powerful, Chartreuse. You need to learn how to control your emotions."

"The hondux spirit should be active already." Mr. Daryn said as he checked my pulse. He turned to Daphne "Get Fredrick here."

She nodded and left.

"Do my parents know about this?"

"It's best they don't have a hint. They may make things worse for us and easier for the ghostly creature."

I nodded; "But I don't want to be placed on quarantine."

"You have to Chart…"

"I said I don't want to be placed on quarantine!!!!" My voice boomed, sounding masculine and a strange force sent Mr. Sean flying back and up at a wall. He groaned and fell down with a grunt.

Mr. Daryn wanted to speak but when he looked into my eyes, he averted his gaze quickly. I have been angry many times but this one was just too much. I have never felt like this before. A strange power together with andrenaline was coursing through my veins making me feel like I could kill everyone that dares to go against my words.

And sincerely, I was scared of sunch strength.

This wasn't me.

Me was a scared cat with strong emotions which I am still learning to use to my advantage. Me wasn't a badass who could beat everyone. Me totally freaks out once she figures her opponent didn't fall at her first hit.

Daphne came in with Dr. Fredrick behind her; "What happened here?" She asked in panic looking at the struggling Mr. Sean, Mr. Daryn was trying to help. I felt guilty wash over me.

"I am sorry. Really sorry, Mr. Sean."

"Calm down, it isn't your fault. I shouldn't have pushed too far." Mr. Sean smiled.

"Can I have a word with you both." Daphne raised her hand.

Mr. Sean and Mr. Daryn looked and each other then followed Daphne out of the room.

Dr. Fredrick approached me with his stethoscope. He checked my heartbeat and pulse.

"I am afraid to say that you are now officially a living dead, Miss. Neon. You need to be under watchful eyes from now on because from the information I gathered from the attack, you are now an empty vessel for stray souls."

"And it goes beyond that." I muttered. Dr. Fredrick froze for a bit and sighed.

"I had a friend who lost his wife and daughter a century ago. He was pained but when he got to know about the Darken, he stopped at nothing but to bring them back to life with it. He didn't know the trick and so when he brought them back to life, he couldn't handle the cravings of an undead and ended up killing them. He is dead right now. He withered himself after he realized what he had done." Dr. Fredrick smiled and patted my head, a gesture I hated but I couldn't think about it now "You better be careful, kiddo."

The door opened and Dr. Fredrick moved away from my bedside.

"You are not gonna be under quarantine, Chartreuse but we have to stick together from now on." Daphne winked.

"Also, you will be having night lectures to educate you about your new found abilities and how to calm your cravings. Young undeads like you are very wild." Mr. Daryn informed and I nodded.

If what they said is the only way for me to still be living normally then no problem.

"I agree." I said.

"But be warned, Chartreuse. Do not wander. The ritual the ghostly creature performed isn't complete. They still haven't raised the person alive that is why you haven't withered yet."

I nodded slowly. I never expectedy life to turn upside down in a night. It was so much to take in.

I really have to remember; to remember the person that did this to me…

Evan…Monday…

The news had circulated like a wildfire. Sandra and Chartreuse had gone missing the same during our practice hunt and only Chartreuse was found just last Friday.

I recalled my own attack by a demon called Luran. That was definitely not an illusion. Could it be that Chartreuse and Sandra met the same fate I did?

The rumors said Chartreuse couldn't remember a thing about what happened and the school authority was in chaos with Sandra's parents.

I sighed internally.

Besides all that, I still didn't have the answer to my question.

"I should have listened to Chartreuse that day." I muttered to myself and opened my locker. I felt dizzy and my fangs threatened to elongate. I have been hungry for blood ever since I fed on that demon.

"Hey, Evan." I turned around, trying to calm down. Sheridan came into view and let out a weak, twitching smile that didn't reach my eyes. Sheridan frowned.

"You don't look like you've been sleeping well lately. Anything the matter?" She asked.

"No nothing. I have just been stuck up a little bit in training that I no longer had time for myself. I am totally fine, Sherry. Obviously nothing to worry about…"

"You obviously look sick, Evan. Let's take you to the school clinic…"

"I hate clinics for starters, Sherry. I'll be fine. Anyway, have you seen, Chartreuse?" I changed the topic, not wanting to draw this topic any longer.

Sheridan cocked her head to the side with squinted eyes; "Since when did you start bothering about Chartreuse?"
