Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Missing a Brain Cell

"Forbidden Spell - Hellfire Blaze the Heavens!"

Ye Lin roared, and a flame with a purple base and a red tip emerged from his hand, burning as if an evil lotus had appeared in the world.

Then the flame landed on a pile of dry firewood, igniting it instantly.

Using a forbidden spell to start a fire—this scene, if seen by outsiders, would probably make their eyes bulge. It was as absurd as using a nuclear bomb to light a cigarette.

By the end of the day, Ye Lin had reached level 3 through his relentless slaughter. The forbidden spell he unlocked at level 3 was Hellfire Blaze the Heavens. Similar to Apocalypse Thunder, it could summon boundless hellfire from the nine netherworlds by sacrificing oneself.

The higher the level, the harder it was to advance. For example, it took 1,000 experience points to go from level 1 to level 2, 2,000 points from level 2 to level 3, and 3,000 points from level 3 to level 4.

Being able to reach level 3 in just one day, Ye Lin was extremely satisfied. He estimated that most people hadn't even reached level 2. At this rate, reaching level 10 before the novice secret realm closed would be no problem at all.

Ye Lin skillfully dragged a dead three-eyed demon boar, skinned it, and placed its meat on the burning fire pit to roast.

The fatty hind leg quickly started to sizzle and bubble in the hellfire, creating a mouth-watering aroma that greatly stimulated Ye Lin's appetite.

Although he was immortal and couldn't starve to death, the feeling of hunger wasn't pleasant. He wasn't a masochist and wouldn't neglect his stomach.

Hellfire was inherently hotter than ordinary flames, making it highly efficient for roasting. Soon, the entire hind leg was roasted to a crispy exterior and tender interior.

Ye Lin tore off a piece of meat, the juices flowing freely, emitting a steaming aroma.

Savoring the burst of meaty fragrance in his mouth, Ye Lin nearly teared up for a moment.

The meat of the three-eyed demon boar was incredibly tender and far more delicious than ordinary pork.

Previously, living in the slums and being poor while hiding his secret of being immortal, he had never tasted such good food.

Fortunately, he was now a career changer. Once he had the strength to protect himself, he wouldn't need to live a life of hiding anymore.

As Ye Lin was enjoying his meal, not far away, Zhuge Ni suddenly paused, her eyes filled with suspicion as she looked in the direction of Ye Lin. As a fire mage, she was extremely sensitive to fire elements and immediately sensed the presence of hellfire.

"Besides me, there's no second SSS-level fire-related profession in Qingcheng. How could there be such a powerful fire element fluctuation? Could it be that some fire-related treasure has appeared?"

A glint of curiosity flashed in Zhuge Ni's beautiful eyes as she headed toward Ye Lin's location.

On Ye Lin's side, after eating and drinking his fill, he extinguished the fire, urinated on the ashes, and then continued his monster-slaying journey.

The belief that arson and imprisonment were to be avoided was something he always remembered.

By the time Zhuge Ni arrived, Ye Lin was long gone, leaving only a smoking fire pit.

"It's actually a human causing all this commotion! The fire element fluctuation is just as powerful as mine!"

Zhuge Ni's beautiful eyes were filled with surprise. She bent down, picked up some unburned firewood, and sniffed it. This caused her delicate eyebrows to furrow.

"It's indeed the legendary hellfire, but why is there a strange smell?"

Zhuge Ni was puzzled but didn't delve deeper. Standing up, her eyes were filled with excitement.

"Qingcheng truly harbors hidden dragons and crouching tigers. Wait and see, I, Zhuge Ni, will definitely find you out!!"

Compared to Ye Lin's stubborn and foolish nature, someone with power and the ability to hide was far more interesting to Zhuge Ni.

Zhuge Ni scanned the surroundings and quickly pursued in the direction Ye Lin had left.

"Forbidden Spell - Burning Cycle!"

"Forbidden Spell - Apocalypse Thunder!"

Ye Lin was rampaging through the forest depths, like a plague of locusts, sweeping away every monster he could see.

Having grown accustomed to Apocalypse Thunder, even with a new attack forbidden spell, Ye Lin still preferred using Apocalypse Thunder for monster-slaying.

After all, a single lightning strike killed monsters instantly without pain. Using Hellfire Blaze the Heavens would take a few seconds to burn them to death.

Ye Lin wasn't a devil and wouldn't do such a cruel thing. He felt he was still quite kind, after all, he had a compassionate heart.

This brush with monsters continued until late at night. As he was about to reach level 4, Ye Lin planned to push through in one go. Suddenly, a sound came from behind.

Ye Lin narrowed his eyes and immediately stopped the Burning Cycle. The blood flames on his body disappeared instantly.

He was very clear about the movements of monsters. The one coming behind him was definitely not a monster but a human.

Before he saw the person, he saw the legs.

The first thing that caught Ye Lin's eye was a long, slender, and fair leg. Then came Zhuge Ni's cold face, her ink-black hair shining like a Milky Way waterfall under the moonlight.

Even Ye Lin had to admit that this woman, despite being stubborn, had an excellent figure and face.

But the novice secret realm was so large. How could he bump into her?

"Ye Lin? Why is it you?"

The moment Zhuge Ni saw Ye Lin, she frowned, her good mood instantly disappearing.

She was looking for an anonymous genius who mastered hellfire, not Ye Lin. Why was this guy here?

But soon, Zhuge Ni figured out the reason.

It seemed that after entering the novice secret realm, Ye Lin realized how exhausting it would be to solo as a Forbidden Spell Caster. He must have regretted it and come specifically to find her.

"I told you before, the Forbidden Spell Caster profession is strong but not suitable for soloing. It's too late for you to regret now. Clinging on won't help. I don't have time to team up with you. Move aside, I have things to do."

There was no warmth in Zhuge Ni's pretty face. If Ye Lin had held out, she would have respected him as a real man. Now, this behavior only made her look down on him.

Having given him so many chances before and not cherishing them, coming back when he faced difficulties was something Zhuge Ni disliked the most.

If he couldn't keep his word, what kind of man was he?

Especially now that Ye Lin was blocking her from finding the genius who mastered hellfire, it made Zhuge Ni dislike him even more.

Ye Lin was confused by Zhuge Ni's logic. It was Zhuge Ni who had mysteriously chased after him, and now he was the one clinging on?

He realized that this woman wasn't just stubborn; she was missing a brain cell.
