Cherreads

Chapter 1 - 001. Twin fruits

"You all should be prepared before the doctor gets here, especially you. " He said, pointing at Cheryl, who stood by the corner of the stairs quietly.

"Understood, sir," Cheryl responded to his father with his head bent low.

It had been normal for him to be yelled at, beaten or taking a blame for an action that he didn't commit or isn't related to him.

Most of the time, it was as though he didn't exist. He was just an inanimate object who just took the spot of the third child in a family that cared little about him.

'It's nothing new, but today my fate will change, I hope'

Cheryl was born into a baron's family. At first, his life was beautiful and lovely, going just the way he had wished for it to go, until his parents decided to have two more kids.

His life changed after that. The usual attention they showered him with was now given to the two twins brought into the world, and slowly, he stopped receiving any special treatment from his parents.

After a long while, he grew accustomed to it and didn't bother requesting or expecting it from anyone. He just wanted to have a good, reasonable life where his trauma wouldn't affect him.

But every day felt the same in the home he grew up in. He ran errands like a servant and did chores every day while others relaxed, played, or did something utterly different.

His parents had even once given up on him during a school event before he went to partake, and that led to him not even trying again.

But growing up in that kind of home would teach you some certain things school wouldn't.

He learnt a lot of things, and having trust issues was one of them. He had also slowly grown introverted to the world, simply sinking into the serene beauty of his chambers.

"The doctor has arrived in the Bellingham family, " their personal butler announced at the sight of the doctor.

Everyone heard the announcement and immediately started rushing down to avoid getting scolded, well, all except for the twins.

'The doctor is finally here!, so the awakening process should be starting soon!' He smiled as he moved down the stairs, lining up quickly in the first row.

"Good day, Doctor Albert. It's a pleasure to meet you again after a long while, " Mr Bellingham welcomed the doctor with a handshake.

"The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Bellingham, " the doctor reciprocated with a bright smile that brought out his well arranged dentition.

'This guy is the doctor in charge of the awakening process?' He thought, staring at the doctor with a curious glance.

Doctor Jeremy Albert had been their home doctor since he was a kid. He visited them from time to time, mostly because his parents still gave him gifts for safely bringing the twins into the world.

And also to check up on them from time to time. He wasn't expecting their family doctor to be part of the specially trained doctors in charge of the awakening process.

'It won't be so hard then, '

"I see your young kids are now grown enough to finally awaken their dormant abilities," he smiled, setting down his briefcase.

Cheryl rushed and took the briefcase from him, and set it down on the table close to the doctor to avoid getting scolded by his parents.

"Yes, the twins here and him are the next to awaken their dormant abilities." Mr Bellingham gestured to the empty space the twins were supposed standing on.

He turned around to meet an empty space, and then he turned to his wife, who had already furrowed her brows.

Then he glanced at Cheryl, who stood diligently behind the doctor with an annoyed expression on his face.

"What are you doing standing there? Where are the twins?" He yelled, startling Cheryl, who was busy daydreaming about his ability.

"Huh?" He raised his head to meet the empty space where the twins were supposed to be standing.

"What? But I cal–"

"Don't give me stupid excuses and go find them immediately!" He ordered, sending Cheryl out of the room.

His immediate elder sibling smirked, watching him climb up the stairs without saying anything to help him out.

He navigated through the large corridors, hurrying toward the twins' room with a frown on his face. He was already annoyed that he was being treated that way in his own home.

Moreover, it was because of two untrained individuals who just happened to be his younger siblings.

'If everyone was treated the same way I'm being treated, maybe they'd understand how I feel,' he sighed, pushing open the doors to the hallway.

He met the twins playing around in their usual manner when they were supposed to be down stairs with the others waiting.

What annoyed him more about their existence was the fact that he was just getting his own awakening pill, when he was supposed to have awakened his own abilities since.

It was because his parents found it more befitting for him to wait for the twins to become of age before he can take his, so they could all have it together.

He waited for five years, just for them to end up doing this on the day of his awakening.

"Tsk! If I hit them, dad won't take it easy on me. I might have to wait another five years as punishment, which I can't afford to."

"Hey!, Joanne and Jones, get your ass downstairs before dad gets angry!" He yelled, his voice echoing through the hallway.

They both turned at the sound of his voice but weren't frightened by his words. They rather seemed amused by the way he sounded.

"What are you going to do if we don't?" They both giggled.

"Well, I'm not the one going to be losing. If the doctor leaves here today without you both having your pill, you will have to wait another five years before you can, " he murmured, raising his shoulder up.

They immediately took to a sprint, leaving everything they were doing before he came because they didn't want to miss their opportunity to gain their first abilities.

'I knew that would work on them, I've known you both for ten years of your small lives. ' he smiled, watching them zoom past him to the staircase.

'Well, I have to follow up, or I might be forgotten again as usual'

He followed them close behind, jugging while they both sprinted forward without looking back.

They all arrived downstairs, and both his parents had a bright expression when they saw the twins.

"Thank goodness nothing happened to you," his mother cried out, hugging them tightly while giving Cheryl side eyes.

'They were literally in the house. What could possibly happen to them?'

With everyone now present, the doctor pulled the table closer to him and opened his briefcase.

"Alright then, let's begin the process"
