Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Four Corners

The new team of four gathered in the Gearhouse's archive. The air buzzed with a tense, focused energy. It was a meeting of four distinct philosophies, four corners of a map they were about to draw.

"Our target, the Redactor, is a Memory Denier, likely Level Two," Ronan began, taking charge of the briefing. "Her methods are subtle. She edits, she doesn't destroy. We can't fight her head-on. We need to find where she's been, and predict where she's going."

Cain, leaning against a bookshelf, spoke without looking at them. "Physical traces are useless. She is a professional. We should be tracking whispers in the underworld, rumors of people whose memories have suddenly become… unreliable." This was his domain: the tangible present.

Isolde, seated at the table, offered a different perspective. Her voice was a mere whisper. "Her power leaves a void. A silence where a memory used to be. I can feel these places. They are cold spots in the city's emotional atmosphere." Her domain was the supernatural present.

"Kordo, the guard, mentioned the old printing district," Liam said, bringing them back to their only concrete lead. "He said she was there to correct a 'misprint' in the historical ledgers. The past is where she does her work. That's where we'll find her trail."

Ronan nodded, seeing how their skills fit together. "Alright. Here's the plan. Cain, you work the streets. Find us a location in the printing district that's had unusual activity. Isolde, you walk the district and try to feel for one of your 'cold spots'. Liam and I will go to the municipal records annex and look for the ledgers Kordo mentioned. We find the 'misprint' she was there to 'correct'."

They had a plan. Four different approaches, all converging on a single point in the city's forgotten history.
