Chapter 15 - The Summoning

At the dead of night, in a well hidden cave

A small persistent fire illuminated the surroundings, revealing the figures of a few people and a grotesque sight before them.

Someway somehow, one of the major villages had found out that a unique organization had been born that was abducting ninjas. The cult leader had made painstaking efforts to hide their actions as best as possible but alas, they had still been found out.

This was not their end however as they managed to fight off the ninjas that had come to investigate and successfully escaped, albeit with lesser numbers and gravely wounded surviving members.

Now, one of the ninjas sent to kill them had been too daring and was now captured, secured tightly with chains and pinned against the cold wall of the cave.

She also wasn't alone either as the people the cult had managed to kill were currently being used as sacrifices.

The blood of the many ninjas they had killed had been mixed with reagents and beast blood to draw magical almost otherworldly signs on the ground.

The final design was a massive blood red circle with unknown symbols mixed around the circle. It stretched out for about twenty meters on all sides and had an abundance of corpses on each side of the circle, blood flowing freely and painting a most eerie and grotesque sight.

None of the corpses were in the best of conditions due to the desperate struggle the cult had faced when killing them. Many of them were burnt, sliced up, stabbed in all types of places with some even being cut into many pieces that would give off the impression that it was food being served.

However, among the corpses there were two that were different from the rest. None of the two had any scratches, injuries, or any form of damage upon them. In fact, they looked as if they were sleeping amongst dead bodies, but if one listened carefully they would realise that these two were not alive and were in fact, dead.

Three black robed cultists stood around the ritual site, an old man who seemed to be the leader was in front of both of them muttering incantations and weaving hand signs. The other cultists followed the lead of the old man, mimicking his handsigns and repeating the same incantations as him

'How could this have gone so wrong' The female ninja thought brokenly

She had been one of the most eager to hunt down this organization, while it was because she was a ninja and this was her mission, there was a far more important reason why she wanted to hunt down them.

She didn't know any member of the filthy organization personally. It was because of their actions why she wanted to do this. When she was but a little girl she had experienced personally the cruelty and horrors of how people could treat each other.

She was not a native of any of the Great villages, she had been accepted there after escaping her own minor village that had been raided. At first she thought she would be questioned or tortured or even outright killed but none of that happened.

She was barely questioned and accepted into the hidden leaf village, and an immense amount of gratitude for them surged within her. For the next few years she had devoted herself entirely to gaining power and becoming stronger.

She had even managed to officially become a Jonin through blood sweat and tears.

Now everything she had was either at the brink of destruction or already destroyed. Her friends were dead, used as fodder for whatever ritual these bastards were trying to do.

"I hate my life." She muttered underneath her breath

She wasn't an evil person, she didn't know why all of this was happening to her. She had heard her mother say something about this to her when she was younger but at that time she didn't understand it.

'Life is cruel, and nothing will truly ever go your way. It is up to you to accept this fact.'

*SCREEH*

Suddenly a sound that grated on the ears echoed within the dimly lit cave

It began as a slow, annoying sound at first until it devolved into a high pitched grating sound against your ears. It became so unbearable that the ears of everyone, the cultists included, started to bleed.

The sound continued for a while longer before everything suddenly stilled

The blood from the corpses stopped flowing, the insects that had been crawling on the bodies of the dead humans stopped moving and the air itself seemed to freeze. A strange and primal sense of dread rippled through the hearts of every living creature beside the ritual site. Feeling this dread, the face of the female ninja paled and she nearly fainted. The faces of the cultists however showed immense joy upon feeling this familiar dread and their chantings became even faster.

However, a short while after that dreadful feeling came another one suddenly made itself known.

*SCREECH*

The unbearably grating sound increased even more and one of the cultists directly coughed up blood, painting the floor red.

The other cultists had strained faces and confusion written all over their faces, the female ninja wasn't faring any better either as she had a bleeding nose and was on the verge of unconsciousness. If she hadn't sent her chakra to her brain she would have likely been knocked unconscious or worse, suffered some sort of brain damage.

"W-What is the lord doing!?" The old man muttered underneath the pressure

This new pressure wasn't as domineering as the first one but had a certain edge to it that made it just as dangerous if not more dangerous than the first one. It seemed to target the weak points in the mind of anyone it brushes over and was extremely dangerous.

Suddenly, the old man felt liquid running down his nose and moved a hand to touch it. When he looked at his hand he saw blood, a lot of it and it wasn't stopping.

The old man looked behind him and saw that the girl they had managed to capture was now unconscious and the two last surviving cultists were on the verge of unconsciousness, their body trembling from the pressure.

The combined pressure of both auras reached a point where animals with keener senses than humans, immediately began to panic. Birds shrieked sharply and took to the skies and even insects that were near the cave just stopped moving, dead.

The stillness of the blood in the ritual circle suddenly unpaused and something magical happened.

Every single corpse except for the two preserved ones started to slowly disappear under the eyes of the only person who had the strength to stare at the ritual circle right now.

"Has another lord decided to come, w-what is happening?" The old man worriedly said

This old cultist ninja had received word from his connection with his master that he was to use the last preserved body he had in the ritual that he was to perform. At first this confused him as these powerful corpses were only used when the master was descending into this world.

Now, however, he was absolutely sure

'Another Lord is descending!'

The stillness suddenly appeared once more, descending on everything around it, causing everyone to freeze in their tracks. Then everything started flowing to the center of the ritual circle the two bodies included.

However the difference was that the two preserved corpses were not going to the center but was instead going above the center, floating above the sacrifices offered.

When all the sacrifices were gone two powerful auras descended upon the two floating bodies seemingly fusing with them. The dreadful feeling reached a new height in presence of the auras until suddenly it disappeared as both demons had fully Incarnated and an incomprehensible sense of mortal danger surged through the old man

Lucius opened his eyes and took in the unfamiliar place he had landed in. Beside him, his companion was already fully settled within his new form as this wasn't his first time incarnating within a vessel.

'Feels weird' Lucius thought

'I felt more free in hell as if I wasn't bound by anything now….I just feel like something is restricting me'

'Though I don't deny the aesthetics of this body'

Due to incarnation, Lucius's appearance was now the appearance of the body he incarnated in. It had bright white hair, a chiseled face, along with lean muscles that gave a mixture of power, flexibility and agility.

And the good thing?

Lucius didn't lose an ounce of power

While he could sense that this body was barely meaning to take all his power, it didnt matter. Barely or not it was still handling his full might and as such he could use all his power when fighting.

Without realising, Lucius licked his lips, excitement coursing from within him. He was going to explore a new world and he was going to devour more souls and live life as he pleased.

Beside him, the wolf-headed demon gave a low growl of satisfaction, its muscles coiling like a predator ready to spring. "Your body is holding up better than I expected," it said, its voice deep and guttural, vibrating in the chest. "Most cannot handle such a vessel immediately. You must have immense control over your essence."

Lucius chuckled within his mind, not replying back.

'If he knew I couldn't manipulate demon energy yet what would be his reaction?' Lucius thought in amusement

A subtle rustling drew both demons' attention as the female ninja, still chained, had begun to stir. Her eyes blinked open, confusion flashing across them. They widened as they locked onto the two newly incarnated demons.

At that moment she regretted everything

She regretted ever volunteering to hunt down this organization

She regretted ever thinking she could put these people to justice

The ... .thing, before her wasn't even a ninja or even a rogue ninja. Whatever it was it had just possessed the body of a dead person and was oozing out so much bloodlust that she wouldn't be surprised if she died the next second.

Filled with fear, she didnt even realise when she started begging for her life. Promising to do whatever they asked her to do.

"P-Please, D-Dont kill me!" she cried

A sort of desperation was on her face that wasnt there before the two demons were incarnated, now that she saw them it felt like she was standing next to the terror incarnate.

Lucius took in all this desperation and smiled, not feeling an ounce of pity for this person. He was starting to slowly lose the little compassion he had as a human and was fully embracing his human side.

And now seeing this girl wallow in despair….he felt happy.
