Chapter 418 - Strange's Experiences

"Experiment?" Scarlet Witch immediately thought of a certain period in her life. She and her brother Pietro had been subjected to superhero experiments at an experimental base due to their hatred for Stark.

"No, perhaps you don't understand. What they need is the connection between us and the power of chaos." Wanda shook her head. "If it's an experiment, Heberon has a lot of our information stored. Under their guidance, I am gradually and thoroughly controlling the power of chaos to a certain extent.

The kind of human experiments and inhumane experiments you imagine will not happen. After all, if they really wanted to do that, I would not be sitting here talking to you now, but imprisoned in their laboratory. "

Having already made some mental preparations, Scarlet Witch felt more at ease. She now looked forward to heading to Hebron after calming her mind.

Scarlet Witch Universe.

The Supreme Mage King watched as a beam of light descended from the sky and struck directly in front of him. As the beam of light disappeared, a group of words surrounded by magic power were imprinted on the ground as if by a seal.

The king felt Strange's breath and mark from this ball of magic. The words began to flash like a kaleidoscope, jumping up from the ground, and then leaping into the king's eyes.

There were not many words, but the spiritual will contained in them was enough for Wang to understand what Strange wanted to tell him.

After the magic text disappeared, Wang confirmed two things.

First, the trouble caused by Scarlet Witch has been solved. At least for the time being, she will no longer endanger their universe.

Secondly, because of some troubles caused by their crossing the universe, Strange must first work with his other self to repair and eliminate them, so he may not be able to come back for a while.

Wang breathed a sigh of relief after understanding this information. No one could have fathomed the immense pressure he'd endured during this time. Given the power Scarlet Witch had displayed at Kamar-Taj, even if Strange had taken the troublesome girl and lured Scarlet Witch away, Wang couldn't hold out high hopes for his safe escape.

Of course, he knew that Strange was very talented in magic and had a very flexible mind. Compared to his more steady self, Strange always had a flash of inspiration at critical moments and was able to save people from desperate situations. However, facing the Scarlet Witch's terrifyingly powerful strength, he could not feel at ease until he had definite news.

Now that there was news about Strange, the trouble had been resolved. Although it was unclear how it had been resolved, he would naturally know everything when he returned.

The disaster was over, and Wang was finally able to begin the aftermath and reunite the mages of Kamar-Taj. But before that, Wang's mind flashed back to the majestic and familiar beam of light that had brought Strange's message.

That seems to be Asgard's rainbow bridge?

But hadn't Asgard long ago experienced the Ragnarok of the Gods, becoming dust in the universe under the destruction of Surtur? At that moment, the Rainbow Bridge should have been destroyed along with Asgard, right?

Furthermore, Strange's message revealed that he was currently in another universe, resolving some issues arising from cosmic and dimensional travel, not in this one. This raises the question: what universe's Rainbow Bridge could allow for interdimensional and cosmic teleportation? Or could it even bypass the Kamar-Taj barrier?

"Hello, King." At this moment, Strange was in the Kamar-Taj library, which was somewhat unfamiliar to him, and was greeting a person with a familiar face.

"Stephen Strange? I received information about you. Stephen told me that you will stay here for a while and asked me to help you with the documents." Wang looked up at Strange in his seat and reached out to pick up the two rulers on the table.

"Hold out your hand," Wang demanded.

Strange instinctively followed the King's instructions and raised his left hand. The King glanced at him, then pulled out a ruler and tapped it against his wrist. The ruler instantly curled up upon contact with Strange's wrist, then buckled around it, locking into a perfect circle.

Strange was sensitive to the fact that this thing had established a deep connection with his body and mind. In other words, under this connection, he felt that even if he cut off his left arm, he would not be able to get rid of this thing.

"What is this?" Strange was not panicked. He did not feel any danger from above. He just raised his hand curiously and put it in front of his eyes to observe it carefully for a few times, then looked at the king across the table in confusion.

"It's an identity marker. It's also proof of temporary residence for those coming from another world. This should have been the responsibility of S.H.I.E.L.D., but since you're a wizard from Kamar-Taj in another universe, and wizards are supposed to handle things, Kamar-Taj has the right to intervene and take over this responsibility." Wang calmly shoved another ruler into Strange's hand and reminded him, "This is for the little girl next to you. Remember to put it on her. Otherwise, if she goes out, she might get into a lot of trouble. I don't want to have to go to S.H.I.E.L.D. or any other department to get her out."

Strange subconsciously tightened his grip on the silver-white, metal-like ruler in his hand. "I thought you could use magic."

"If there was only one Kamar-Taj, of course magic could be used to give you an identity mark. But unfortunately, Kamar-Taj is not the leader of order here. We are just one link in it. Your information has now been uploaded to the information database of Heberon and S.H.I.E.L.D." Wang rolled his eyes, answered, and then reminded.

"Also, this temporary ID card has a detection function. If you use magic, it will automatically record the type of magic you used and upload the information to the monitoring station accordingly. So remember, if you go out, it's best not to use any threatening magic at will. This may cause you trouble. Of course, this refers to this universe. With the Nine Realms as the core, the Nine Realms have the strictest monitoring. Outside the Nine Realms, it's much more relaxed. As for outside the universe? There, you can do whatever you want without any constraints. Anyway, S.H.I.E.L.D. is unlikely to cross dimensions to cause trouble for you."

"Has the planet become like this now?" Strange looked shocked.

"It's good to be familiar with it. No one wants those super-powers to explode on this planet. This is a place where super powers are forbidden. That is, magic and other minor powers are treated specially here." The king replied without surprise. Kamar-Taj's barrier has long been equipped with more sensitive detection tentacles.

"I've been staying with Stephen, um, the me in this universe. How did he inform you? Was it last night?" Strange asked curiously, stroking the identity mark on his wrist that had faded to the same color as his skin. It was impossible to detect its existence without touching it with his hand.

"Data dimension. Of course, we have our own exclusive mage office network inside. You just need to communicate with it and upload the matters you want to do, and it will handle everything it can for you." The Mage King shrugged.

"It sounds like the human internet." Strange instantly thought of a familiar tool.

"That's right. As I said before, mages are not isolated from the world. We also know how to keep pace with the times." The Mage King said, standing up from his seat.

"I know why you're here. The Sorcerer Supreme has already told me. I've given you a pass to Kamar-Taj and a library card in your identity token."

"I remember there weren't these things before." Strange followed the Mage King. The interior space was obviously much larger. It was no longer the crowded and narrow Kamar-Taj Library he was familiar with.

"There weren't many mages in Kamar-Taj before," the Mage King replied without turning back. "With a small group, keeping things simple is fine. But when the number of people increases to a certain level, you have to upgrade the rules accordingly. Otherwise, things will become complicated and chaotic."

"I understand." Strange agreed.

"This is the former library of Kamar-Taj. It's a public area. Any wizard who joins Kamar-Taj can read the books here. Of course, the restricted area is definitely not included." The Mage King stopped in front of a row of bookshelves with a familiar style.

The library was divided into several areas by some kind of magic, each with a distinct style, like a bunch of strange things forced into one space. From the outside, it looked harmonious and natural, but closer you'd notice the stylistic anomalies.

Those old bookshelves made Strange feel familiar, but also a sense of nostalgia. He had once worked hard here.

But despite his nostalgia, he had no intention of heading in. After all, the Mage King had said that this was the old Kamar-Taj library, and that it contained no banned books. This greatly reduced Strange's allure, almost to nothing. After all, if nothing unexpected had happened, he would have already read all the books here, and even if he hadn't studied them, he would have at least some understanding of them.

The Wizard King obviously had no intention of giving a grand introduction. It was as if he knew that Strange would not go in to see it. He took Strange to another area.

It was a library as grand and vast as a church, with an architectural style that was quite exotic.

"These are spell notes, records, and tomes from various schools of magic that Kamar-Taj has scavenged from across the multiverse. Some of them are quite worth a look. The spells here are mostly more peaceful, unlike Kamar-Taj's traditional borrowed magic. They specialize in harnessing energies called arcane or fel energy. They are much less dangerous than the spells practiced by Kamar-Taj, and the mental requirements are similarly low.

Kamar-Taj's mages generally tend to have more apprentices, while full-fledged mages only view these as a supplementary training method, allowing them to broaden their horizons and expand their magical knowledge. After all, their capacities haven't surpassed Kamar-Taj's original spells, and their potential is even somewhat inferior. This is even more so than the updated Kamar-Taj spell schools.

But people in departments like S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Time Administration are fond of this kind of magic. Because if they don't trace its origins and pursue its fundamentals, cramming the previously summarized spell formulas and models into a single study can quickly produce a large number of mages. It's not very useful, but it's enough to fool people.

After all, this planet is developing rapidly, and there's a shortage of manpower everywhere, especially in the mystical field. Since Kamar-Taj's mages are burdened with important tasks and can't always meet S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mystical advisor needs, they've had no choice but to look elsewhere.

"Kama-Taj, Asgard and S.H.I.E.L.D. jointly established a magic school, originally intended to train mages for S.H.I.E.L.D. Graduates of this school are no longer required to fulfill the guardianship duties of Kamar-Taj's mages. Just like human universities, they are free and can find jobs on their own after graduation. The only difference is that they learn magic.

This magic school has been established for over seventy years. Every seven years, each graduate signs an employment contract with S.H.I.E.L.D., and the recent graduates have been highly sought after. It's said that many high-ranking officials and powerful figures in various countries, dissatisfied with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s monopoly of all the magicians at the school, have officially joined the competition. After all, they also produce some valuable resources such as the new currency.

Of course, if the mages who graduated from that school want to put their affairs aside and continue their studies, Kamar-Taj won't refuse. But they might have to work a little harder by then. After all, Kamar-Taj is short of people.

The Wizard King took Strange through the bookshelves and explained to him the relevant interesting facts and information.

Strange also casually flipped through two books and found that the Kamar-Taj spells were indeed very different from what he remembered.

"Where's the energy? Where does it come from? Is that what I'm feeling?" Strange put the spell notes back in his hand. While these spells were novel, they only served as a supplementary learning tool. He was more interested in seeing new spells related to Kamar-Taj.

"That's right. Kamar-Taj has converted some of its energy into arcane energy." The Mage King said vaguely, not revealing any further details on the topic. Strange obviously realized that there might be some hidden secrets, so he didn't ask any further questions.

"It seems that you are not satisfied with this place either. The only things left are the Ancient One's spell library and the restricted area. It is definitely impossible for you to enter the restricted area. Even the wizards of Kamar-Taj are qualified to request it." The Wizard King was very satisfied with Strange's understanding. After enthusiastically showing him around, he headed straight for the Ancient One's library.

"But the Ancient One did not mind sharing his knowledge and power. Here are not only the various spells created by the Ancient One, but also the culmination of the hard work of the mages of Kamar-Taj. Most of the spells here are of the same lineage and origin as the original Kamar-Taj spells, but they are more powerful, less costly, more stable, and safer."
