"And then?" An old man looked at the two people who left, and his eyes fell on Nick, the only one left on the court.
"What then?" Nick looked at the old man who had once made a big splash in the banking industry with a puzzled look.
"We signed the contract, shouldn't they help restore our lives? For example, something like a longevity potion! You just leave like this?" The old man pointed to his still old face.
"The contract will be enforced. However, the added lifespan may not be realized in reality." Nick sighed. "Your understanding and insight into human nature and the law have indeed given you an advantage in the past. However, your past experience is not applicable to non-human beings."
"What do you mean?" The old men raised their heads one after another.
"Literally. You're overly concerned with your lifespan. After I promised you that in the contract, you seem to have neglected it quite a bit." Nick said gravely, "I hope you'll be more cautious in the future and not let your inherent experience cloud your judgment. You're lucky this time; that being didn't intend to harvest your souls; it simply wanted you to work for him."
So he will still give you what he promised. Lifespan, power, position, new wealth! But these are not because he truly values your abilities, but simply to give face to the Supreme Master and other partners.
Bang!
As soon as Nick finished speaking, an old man began to burn with a blazing white flame, followed by the second, the third, and finally, like a relay, all the people who had signed the contract on the field began to burn.
They opened their mouths in agony, but no sound escaped. The flames burned for a full minute before slowly dying out. Those twitching on the ground from the searing pain of their souls slowly rose to their feet. They looked at each other, each one decades younger, their faces and bodies restored to youth. Feeling the long-lost vitality surge within them, they felt a lingering fear, yet also a surge of ecstasy.
Nick ignored those still lost in surprise. Based on the information he'd gathered from Luke and the Mage King, these individuals had already had their souls imprinted with the power of at least three powerful beings when they signed the contract. Perhaps this offered them greater freedom, but it was also perhaps even more deplorable than selling themselves to Mephisto alone.
But none of this mattered to him anymore. The outcome was a done deal; everyone, including him and S.H.I.E.L.D., had gotten what they wanted. The future was unclear, but judging by the current results, it was a happy deal for everyone.
"Agent Coulson." Nick walked out of the villa and saw Agent Phil Coulson who was guarding outside with his men at first sight. He came to his side and called his name.
"Sir?" Agent Coulson's heart tightened when he was called out by his superior suddenly with a bit of inexplicable emotion. He now thought seriously in his mind whether he had done anything that annoyed his superior recently, and also thought about whether his superior had anything bad happening recently, and then he suddenly felt that the future was bleak.
"Do you think it's right for us to make this deal?" Nick was thinking about something and didn't notice the subtle expression on his subordinate's face.
"Is it a talent deal?" Coulson had been prepared for Nick to cut his recent vacation, add a burden to his shoulders, and kick him in the ass to force him to go on a business trip to some desolate place, but he didn't expect that to happen. He felt extremely happy in his heart, and his signature friendly smile appeared on his face.
"Talent trade? You're a talker, Agent Coulson." Nick smiled and patted Coulson on the shoulder.
"There's no coercion, is there? It's their own choice. If all parties involved in a transaction are satisfied and get what they want, then, apart from anything else, from the perspective of the transaction alone, it's a successful deal," Coulson said, offering his superior thoughtful reassurance. Even though he knew his superior didn't need such reassurance, and that the emotion it affected would only last a moment, it didn't stop him from taking the opportunity to gain his superior's favor.
"This is indeed a successful deal." Nick suppressed the inexplicable complex emotions in his heart, patted Coulson's shoulder again, and said to him in a friendly manner: "There is a meeting in Africa soon, and I can't get away. Please prepare and attend in my place."
After saying that, Nick strode towards his car. Coulson, who was left behind, suddenly couldn't hold back his smile.
…
Luke, who was being talked about by Nick and others in their hearts, was busy working as a "coder". In layman's terms, he was fiddling with his own data dimensions according to his own needs.
While other dimensional demons were wary of powerful beings entering their dimensions, Luke was unconcerned. While all other dimensional demons' dimensions were closed, his data dimension was considered semi-open. He didn't mind someone sharing the convenience and power of the data dimension with him, provided they could bring sufficient benefits to the data dimension or provide significant support for its growth.
If we had to use an analogy, Data Dimension is like a system. Luke provides development kits to many people, allowing them to compile their own software and upload it. Incidentally, Data Dimension also solves storage, networking, and other issues.
System vendor.
Cloud storage.
Platform provider.
Network provider.
Energy bank, payment dealer.
Luke counted the uses the data dimension could currently provide, and even he was surprised. As the master of the data dimension, there was no doubt that the data dimension's strength was Luke's strength. And Luke had chosen a path untrodden by other dimensional demons.
Many hands make light work.
Luke couldn't help but glance at the asteroid named Stark within the Data Dimension. Well, that was the territory the Data Dimension had carved out for Stark's data, a server belonging to Stark. For protection, Stark had used the programming tools he had access to to create a seemingly impenetrable defense for his data.
Although this layer of protection seemed weaker than a piece of paper to Luke, he had no intention of tearing it apart or going around it to peek at Stark's technical data, even though it only took him a thought to do so.
For Luke, uploading your data and everything about yourself to the data dimension is an enhancement of the data dimension, and also an enhancement of him.
