"What were you doing at Laven enterprise today once again?.....And how did you know I would be there?" Victoria asked.
"I will call that a mere coincidence...or should I say you were the one that was looking for me?" Black smirked.
"No, silly. Why would I do that..." Victoria voice trailed off as a nearby seater glanced at both of them to signal their voice was up.
There was silence.
Occasionally, their hands would brush against each other and retract instinctively. They were trying hard to focus on the movie, at least it was obvious.
Then slowly, their hands meet again, this time staying longer.
Black wrapped his hands around Victoria's, and held it with a firm, yet reassuring grip.
Victoria sighed, as she settled into her seat, feeling some level of calm. She felt like she was where she was supposed to be. At the cinema, with him.
"What if I told you, we were meant to meet?" Black spoke to her in a low voice amidst the movie.
"Is this how you tell every girls you meet that you like them?" Victoria smirked.
"If I guess right, I can see it is working on you..." Black replied.
Victoria glared at him, yet unable to deny his claims. Which made both of them burst into laughter.
Soon, they were seen jogging out of the cinema building and laughing as they tried to escape for disrupting the movie atmosphere inside.
Outside, they continued laughing as they held hands.
"That was fun, Black, we should do that again soon".
"Yeah, It was..So where next?" Black asked.
"Where do you wish to go next?" Victoria answered.
"To my place??" He asked.
"Why would I want to go to your place?" Victoria scanned around, moved closer to his ears and said in a hushed tone, "Maybe you should come to my place instead...."
"Huh, That is an admirable suggestion...after you then". he responded.
Black hailed down a taxi and led to Victoria to lead the way.
"So this is my humble abode." Victoria said.
"I see, it is nice. How long will you be staying?"..
"Well, I have a project to complete, once I am done, I will leave". Victoria said wistfully with the thought of she leaving behind this handsome face once her project is done.
"I wouldn't mind a glass of warm milk, thank you.." Black said smiling.
"Oh my! I am soooo sorry". Embarrassed by her forgetfulness, Victoria rushed to her fridge to prepare the milk.
Black used that opportunity to scan and digest every details of Victoria's room.
'Quite simple a room, for a young lady...'
"What do you mean?" Victoria walked in bringing the warm milk to Black, "Please, pardon my forgetfulness. You will be my first visitor in a long time.."
"Oh, sorry. I was just thinking out loud. And I appreciate the kindness ". Black collected the glass and sip from the glass content.
"Hmm, what brand is this milk? It does have that quality taste..."
"That is Hollandia".
Victoria paused for a while then asked sheepishly, "do you like my room?"
"It's really simple, it shows you didn't plan to stay long. I love it." Black said, "But why this house?".
Victoria contemplated if she can trust the guy in front of her with her job information. "I think it was just a hunch, or what do you think?"
"A hunch, it is." Black felt like he wasn't getting what he wanted. He felt that she was holding off vital information. Wearing a serious demeanour, Black drank all the glass content in one gulp, turned the glass over and took a deep breath..
"Who are you really, Victoria Frost...?"
The atmosphere in the room turned a little apprehensive, and that made Victoria shift slightly.
She was not fazed by the question, but she was surprised by the tone of seriousness that came with it.
Trying to lighten up the room, Victoria smiled, "Victoria Frost, like you said. And I am working for Blackpool Institute as a financial advisor. I am 23 years, and beautiful...as you can see.... Well, I am here in Jos on a different mission entirely, but that is workplace confidential, don't let me bore you with work issue...."
"Nah, don't stop. I am interested, please" Black summoned an interested face.
Victoria laughed at his failing effort to be serious. "Okay, okay, Mr Bean. I am here to find someone that's all. I have no kids, or lover for now.." She eyed him.
Black smiled, he knew he was getting closer to his destination. So he had to just follow the script in his head, or so he thought. At some point he had thought he was simply following his plans, then some other times, he felt he was sincerely having real feelings for her.
Both ways, as long as it would lead to results.
The end justifies the means.
"Now, it is time for you to tell me about yourself, properly. Who are you?. And is Black your real name? I have been trying to ask you for quite a while now". She asked.
"As for me, My name is Black. In full, Rogers Black. I am also in Jos to finish a job. But unlike you, I have been here for quite some times, and I will be here for more times till my job is done. And yeah, I own just one house, in the outskirts of Jos".
Black felt he needed to add that last information for some game play.
Victoria sat tight, "You own a house at the outskirts? Wow! I have been trying to get a house at the outskirts you know, but none were vacant. Do you know anyone who might be a male nurse and owned a house at the outskirts?".
"Is he someone of interest to you ?" Black asked with curiosity.
Victoria adjusted her posture as she replied, "No, not that much. I just heard he owns a lot of house at the outskirts, so I am thinking if I can meet him, I will be lucky..."
"I see, it is already getting late. High time I took my leave". Black said, "Today was fun, and thanks for the hospitality."
Black stood up while speaking, adjusting his wears as he tried to leave.
"Do you mind staying the night...?" Victoria blurted.
Shifting slightly, Black asked "I should stay the night? Do you really want me to...?"
"How many times do you want me to say that... It took me seven folds of courage to say it initially. You can't even save a princess in distress ". Victoria whined.
"I had to double check, Princess. You have got to double check stuff like this these days." Black said.
"You really are a tough nut to crack. Follow me, the bedroom is this way..."
