Then, whenever my father was in his hunting grounds, no one dared to enter. There had been an animal that resided there, a wolf. A massive wolf. Some said it was corrupted and made large by evil. Others whispered that it had been made that huge by Eryndor and his dark magic before his execution. Yet my father always went to it for comfort.
While others feared it, he was always around it. And though it harmed anyone else who ventured near, it never touched him. It was strange how everyone else who came close didn't meet blood and ruin, except the daughter of Elder Cedric. Or was it the other creatures within that had harmed her? I wasn't sure. The warriors meant to guard the boundaries were all found dead at their posts, their bodies torn as if by invisible hands. Whatever had happened inside that forest remained a secret that died with them.
