Chapter 4 - Reward

"Actually, I'm quite skilled with medicine. If you don't mind, old sir, please let me try."

The old man looked at Qin Shuo with doubt. The young man appeared to be barely twenty years old. How could he know medicine?

"Really! Your son is already dying in bed. If I can't heal him, you can just give up hope."

The old man nodded slowly. At this point, he had to try anything. "Thank you, young man. If you can really save my son, I'll be forever grateful."

Qin Shuo smiled without answering and followed the old man to the bedroom.

On the large bed lay a young man with a broad chest and strong build, but his face looked deathly pale and weak.

The old man had this son late in life, so he naturally treasured him. Seeing his son's current condition, he couldn't help but tear up.

The young man seemed to have suffered serious internal injuries. Fortunately, his constitution was particularly strong, which let him hold on for so long. An ordinary person would have died already.

Qin Shuo stepped forward, pulled back the blanket, and placed his left hand on the patient's wrist to check his pulse.

The pulse was still steady but very weak. If this continued, the young man would soon die from loss of vitality.

After asking the old man for paper and brush, Qin Shuo immediately wrote down a prescription and handed it over.

The old man looked at the herbs listed and a strange expression crossed his face. "These are all common herbs. I remember someone else prescribed this same formula before, but it had no effect."

"Don't worry, Old Jiang. The Silver Bark Dendrobium I have is the most important ingredient."

Qin Shuo said automatically, but this sentence revealed something he shouldn't have known.

"How do you know my surname is Jiang?"

The old man's face showed surprise.

"Didn't you just mention it? Have you forgotten already?"

Qin Shuo quickly found an excuse. He'd been too careless and used knowledge from his past life.

"Did I?"

Old Jiang clearly didn't believe it, but given the current situation, he had no choice.

He took the prescription and headed to the city to get the herbs. He wasn't worried about leaving Qin Shuo alone—he was just a poor old man with nothing worth stealing.

Qin Shuo sat down and wiped his sweat, glancing at the unconscious young man on the bed.

This Old Jiang's son was truly gifted. He looked only seventeen or eighteen years old, yet he could fight tigers. If not for this accident, he might have left his mark in history.

Since Qin Shuo had met him, he had to find a way to recruit and train him into an absolute champion.

In his past life, after completing the task, Old Jiang had lived alone on Tianzhu Mountain and never came out again. Qin Shuo wondered if he could recruit him this time.

He'd heard that Old Jiang had served as an official in the imperial court when he was young, and his position hadn't been small. But seeing how the Liu family emperors grew worse and the court became corrupt, he'd returned home in disgust.

From this perspective, Old Jiang probably had good political skills. After completing this task, building a village would require exactly this kind of political talent.

Qin Shuo remembered that the title of "First Village in the World" from his past life had only been claimed one day later. As long as he completed this task quickly, he could definitely grab that title first.

This title gave significant growth bonuses to village development and could even exceed second place by a huge margin.

It didn't take long for Old Jiang to return home with the herbs Qin Shuo had ordered. Sweat covered his head, showing his anxiety.

It was seven or eight miles to the nearest town—fifteen miles round trip. That was exhausting for a man in his sixties.

After bringing back the herbs, Qin Shuo immediately got to work. He took out the precious Silver Bark Dendrobium, crushed it up, and put it in the medicine pot to brew.

About ten minutes later, the herbal medicine had finished brewing. It gave off a unique fragrance that filled the whole house.

Qin Shuo quickly filled a bowl and brought it to Jiang Dalang's bedroom. "Dalang, time to drink your medicine."

However, Jiang Dalang was still unconscious, so in the end, Old Jiang carefully fed him the bowl of medicine.

After drinking the medicine, Jiang Dalang's face color obviously improved. The original paleness was replaced by a slight flush. Anyone could see this medicine was very effective.

What pained Qin Shuo most was using up his Silver Bark Dendrobium. He'd originally kept it for unexpected emergencies, but now he'd used it for a quest. Earth-level herbs were really hard to find.

If sold on the outside market, the Silver Bark Dendrobium would cost at least five hundred gold.

The game's currency exchange rate was roughly one hundred copper coins to one silver, and ten silver to one gold. This Silver Bark Dendrobium was worth half a million copper coins.

What's more, this item was priceless on the market. It could easily climb to a thousand gold.

While Qin Shuo felt distressed about the cost, Old Jiang, who had been caring for his son, suddenly walked over and knelt directly in front of him.

"Thank you, young hero. Without you, my only son would have died soon. This old man is truly grateful."

Old Jiang was moved to tears. Anyone with eyes could see that Dalang Jiang was now out of danger.

"Please don't do that. This is just a doctor's duty. No reward needed."

Qin Shuo hurriedly helped Old Jiang up. Though he said this, his words frantically hinted at wanting a reward.

"That's right." Old Jiang seemed to think of something. He wiped the tears from his face and suddenly pulled out a bronze box from under Jiang Dalang's bed.

Opening the box revealed a letter and a token inside.

"These are the most valuable things in this old man's house. I originally thought they'd follow me to the grave, but meeting you today changes that. These two items should go to you."

Old Jiang handed the bronze box to Qin Shuo with a firm expression, as if he absolutely had to accept this gift.

"Then I won't be courteous." Qin Shuo smiled and took the box without being polite at all.

"Young man, you really are bold! Ha ha ha."

Old Jiang's tears turned to laughter. All the frustration in his heart was gone, and he felt much relieved.

Qin Shuo didn't need to look at what was in the box. From his past life memories, he naturally remembered that the letter was a land deed and the token was a village building order.

Now Qin Shuo had two village building orders. Of course, the God-level one was for his own use. The Mysterious-level one he planned to sell.

Since the game had just launched, he thought this second village building order would definitely sell for a high price. But he still needed to be clever about it.

He remembered that in his past life, the second village had been established by China's military. It should be built around 7 AM tomorrow morning.

If he established his village later, he could market this village building order as the "First Beautiful Village Order."

'People from my own country, I don't want to rip off. But there are plenty of people from other countries. Generally speaking, the monopolistic rich families are mostly foreign, and their faces basically have a few big words written on them.'

'Stupid people with lots of money—come quickly.'
